How fortunate! I prefer to shop alone, but... Well, I'll admit, when it comes to things such as buying gifts for others, I'm never sure where to begin. [ Even if it's going to be for Jimothy "Jim" Jimbo. Which she is definitely addressing everything to. ] Would you mind lending a hand? In exchange, I'll pay for our expenditures.

But she's not gonna push it, it's okay. ] I did, but I kept getting stuck on... "Fine china." It's such an ordinary thing to ask for. Besides that, isn't it generally white and blue? It'll only look white and grey now, seeing as we're lacking a color.

... Unless Jim can still see blue, in which case, I don't believe that's very fair at all.

Well, they did manage to keep the blue on their Retrospec logo so that's not a farfetched thought.

We can purposely get him white and grey china, though, and claim that it's blue. We wouldn't be able to tell and we can also see if that upsets him.

I believe that should be our theme for shopping, if you don't mind. Buying grey things and claiming they're blue, or even green.

I wouldn't mind at all. In fact, I'd highly encourage that our theme should be grey items while claiming they are blue or green.

[ Souji will lead them to the kitchen section as he picks up a sample tablecloth that's as grey as his hair. ]

Perfectly splendid! [ Though now she's looking at other kitchen items... like fancy sugar bowls and such. They're kind of cute, she sort of wants that cat-looking one? She doesn't even need a sugar bowl. ] My, but they certainly have an expansive inventory... I hadn't realized there's so much one could buy for their kitchen.

[ Granted, she's never had to shop for her own stuff, so... Oh, there's those napkin things, she's back on the hunt for things they actually need— ]

Are these satisfactory? [ They're grey with... white polka dots. Plainly, they won't match anything else. But who said they had to??? ]

[ Souji notices the cat sugar bowl and he desperately wants it but he holds himself back. He's here on a mission and he must complete it before he can reward himself. He must stay strong...! ]

I think those are perfect. What if we match them with... [ And he reaches over for a plastic bag of grey plastic forks. ] ... these kinds of eating utensils? Plastic forks are actually much more advantageous than your usual metal ones.

Are they? Well, I suppose they have the bonus of not needing to be washed, seeing as they're disposable, and they're not as rigid as their metal counterparts... I'll have to recommend buying them to my uncle when I return to my residency.

[ She sounds like she's serious. She looks it. ...She knows metal is better than plastic, but this fits her image more. ]

What else should we pick up while we're here? [ ... ] The china itself. I nearly forgot.

He didn't really specify what kind of china he wanted, right? Can't we match the theme and just get him paper plates?

Paper's hardly the same as china... but we're just poor students, as far as he knows, correct? It's the best china freshly graduated high school seniors could afford. [ ... ] Which is to say: yes, let's. Then we can move onto the fun gifts.

[ Souji's hand is dangerously close to the cat. He's going to grab it if Elizabeth makes any sudden moves. ]

Perhaps I am. [ Undoubtedly she could just... buy it later? But something that normal isn't occurring to her right now.

The only thing occurring to her is to try and snatch that cat before Souji can—which won't happen, naturally, but she is still trying!! ]

[ her efforts are admirable but unfortunately, souji had his hand right over it so he snatches it away immediately. he then holds it above his head, as high as his arm will let him so he can keep it out of her reach (he's 5'11" btw so that cat is pretty high up) ]

[ oh no, that plate is too cute... the moment she shows it to him, his arm lowers just very slightly. ]

[ her gaze darts up for just a moment—perhaps if she keeps finding cat items, the bowl will eventually be in reaching distance, and she'll be able to nab it... with this idea in mind, she's backing up a step, grabbing the next cat thing she can find.

which is a kitchen towel. look at these paw prints. they are criminally cute. ]

[ is she quoting hamlet at him? oh no, she didn't. little does she know is that souji is a master at shakespeare. he can't quote lines along with their actual placement in the play but he does remember some quotes because he's an overachiever whose best subject is in english ]

[ and with that, souji decides not to wait any longer and he lunges. he still tries to keep one hand up high while using the other one to grab the kitchen towel. during the struggle, she might be able to grab the sugar bowl or try to take it from him only to drop it so your move ]

[ did he just quote hamlet back at her? that makes her smile genuinely wide and

does not actually stop her from struggling over this damned thing—she grabs the bowl successfully and lets him have the towel juuuuuust in time for a worker to come over to scold them for horsing around in the store and threaten to kick them out if they don't cut it out. but in nicer customer service words.
