WHAT: The log for the blind dates event! Awkward dates and disasters within.
WARNINGS: None!

It’s finally the fated day: Valentine’s.

Some of Recolle’s citizens might be going out, spending the day with their loved ones, while others might be sitting in bars, crying into their drinks. For a number of “lucky” ones, they might have gotten dragged into a blind date!

The Narukami twins have done their jobs. All the matches have been released. Partners have been assigned. Messages have been sent out. Now all that needs to happen are the actual dates. So, run free, everyone. The entire city is there to be their playground. They can go on their own respective dates, join up with other couples, spy on others, sabotage some, anything is fair game. After all, it’s not really fun if someone’s not crashing on another person’s party, right?

This is an open mingle post, so multiple threads can happen anywhere and everywhere. Indicate if the thread is closed if you’d like to keep it private, however! [ Yuuri seems pleasantly surprised when Chuuya approaches him. He'd been glancing around, looking for him, but he wasn't 100% sure if he had the right person. This made things easier. ]

Oh, yes, hello! [ He bows slightly. ] The map was very helpful.

I hope I didn't make you wait too long.

[ Yuuri's not terribly overdressed for the occasion but his hairstyle and general looks are definitely nicer than whatever he was wearing in his (terrible) profile pic. Also, he's holding a gift bag with a big red bow on it. ]

Don't worry, don't worry. It'd be my own fault for showing up that early, yeah?

[Apparently he has no problem invading personal space, because he goes right ahead and sets his hand on Yuuri's shoulder to guide him inside.]

Now c'mon, let's not stand outside all night. There's better spots for the small talk.

[He keeps his exchange with the host inside brief enough, making sure the table's ready, oh, by the way, bring a couple glasses for this, tell the boss I said hi-- before they're waved along; Chuuya directs him to a table a bit out of the way of the main floor, setting the champagne bottle on the table before pulling a chair out for Yuuri and gesturing for him to sit.]

After you. Go ahead and make yourself comfortable.

[ Fortunately, Yuuri is more than a little used to his bubble being invaded, so while it is a little strange to experience it from someone shorter than him, he doesn't seem to mind it much.

That is, until Chuuya asks for the glasses (he knows the owner of this place?!) and finally takes notice of the champagne. ]

A-Ah, thank you.

[ He manages to sit down just fine but his face is getting increasingly pinker. He thought this wasn't going to be an actual date?! Why the champagne?! ]

You... really didn't have to, Mr. Nakahara.

Just Chuuya's fine, no need to be formal, here.

[He hangs his jacket on the back of his own chair before sliding into it, settling in easily enough; the glasses are dropped off quickly by a waiter who promises to be back in a moment with water too, and Chuuya wastes little time in filling them.]

Maybe I didn't have to, but a date's a date, isn't it? As if I'm not gonna treat a guy right on Valentine's.

[He slides one of the glasses over, adding-]

Like I said, no obligation for it to be romantic or anything, but I don't see why I shouldn't make sure it's a nice one either way.

[ It is as he watches Chuuya fills the glasses that he realizes he didn't take off his jacket. Does he look awkward now? But it would be worse to stand up to take it off and then sit down again, right? Yes, okay, so he's keeping it on for the time being.

Caught up in his own thoughts as he is, he only catches that last bit about treating a guy right on Valentine's. Which... really doesn't help his current state of mind. ]

Thank you. [ Yuuri you already thanked him. I... will make sure it's as nice as possible. [ THAT'S NOT THE KIND OF THING YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO SAY OUT LOUD. ]

I mean—um. I also brought a small gift, but it really doesn't compare to yours. [ He pushes the gift bag over the table, in turn. Inside it is a gold, fancy-looking box of chocolates, also adorned with a red bow. ]

Don't worry about comparing. I'm the one who's supposed to be doing the work, you know-- honestly, I wasn't expecting anything. Consider it a nice surprise.

[That comes with a little wink, because how can he not. It's all part of the image; he's not lying when he says he didn't expect anything (in general, really, considering what Anya had told him) but that's hardly going to keep him from flirting.

He pauses to take a sip of his own champagne, head tilted slightly as he considers Yuuri.]

Anyway, I've heard a little about you from Anya, but I still don't know much besides that you're an instructor of hers. What else do you do, just the dance stuff?

[ "Doing the work"... it's probably just an expression but a part of Yuuri is still a little afraid that he came only out of obligation. The only thing currently keeping him from believing this date is just a favor to him is the fact that Chuuya brought champagne—Yuuri is far from an expert in dates, but still he's pretty sure you don't normally bring this stuff to dates with total strangers.

He glances at his own glass, ready to take a sip, but he wants to answer Chuuya's question first. ]

Ah... that's it mostly, and occasionally I do some work as a private investigator. It's not as exciting as it sounds, though. [ Which Yuuri is really grateful for. ]

Seriously? How can that be a boring job? I mean, sure, it's not going to be some film noir story in real life, but you don't get any interesting requests?

[He leans forward a bit, one elbow propped on the table, chin resting in his hand. Come on, spill!!]

There's plenty of weird people in this city, some of them have to end up coming to you at some point.

[ He did have a film noir experience that one time, when it all started, but he chooses to see that as an anomaly since nothing as serious had ever happened again (thank god).

Yuuri finally takes a sip from his glass and tilts his head to the side, slightly, thinking... ]

Mm... well, due to the nature of my job I can't give too many details, but there was this one case where a client's cat went missing. After lots of searching, we managed to discover the cat had been stolen by our client's ex wife because she wanted to keep it herself.

You'd think this sort of thing would only happen with children...

Never assume adults can't be just as stupid. We never get any better.

[He shakes his head, laughing to himself as he takes another drink. He'd know, after all, he's definitely the type who still indulges in doing stupid shit on occasion.]

What a sad state of affairs, though, if you don't get anything more exciting...

[But then he's struck by a sudden realization, snapping his fingers with a grin.]

I know-- the investigator types usually have people they go to for information, though, right? Weird gossip and shit always comes through bars, and I happen to run one, so- how about I let you know if I hear anything interesting?

[ His eyes widen a bit at the proposal, though all that comes out of his mouth is nervous laughter. ]

H-Hahah! Really? [ Came for a blind date and now he was also getting some... sort of informant connection? He's starting to have second thoughts about discussing his "other" profession but on the other hand this would actually be very convenient... ]

I mean. I... well, I'd be very grateful if you're willing to do that, but I'm not sure how I could repay the favor.

[ Chuuya doesn't seem like the type who'd want free dance lessons out of this, at any rate... ]

Well, we don't even know if anything good is gonna come up, so I wouldn't worry about it just yet.

[Chuuya waves a hand dismissively, brushing it off. Honestly, this is mostly just because it sounds like it could be fun.]

If it does pan out, then you can think about repaying me somehow-- but for now, consider the proposal repayment for going along with the whole 'date with a stranger' business.

Ah, there's no need to repay anything! [ Holds his hands up, waving them a little frantically. ] Again, if anything, I feel like I should be the one repaying you for all... this.

[ He takes another ship of the champagne to emphasize his point. ]

But, I also don't want to turn this into a contest of who owes who how much, especially when the point is to enjoy ourselves tonight, so.

[ Whatever comes after the "so" is open to interpretation, since it doesn't seem like Yuuri will elaborate. ]

Maybe I just enjoy contests.

[That comes with a wink, but the effect is a little spoiled by the fact that he's already stifling a little laughter as he tries to keep a straight face; after a moment, he gives up on pretending altogether.]

Kidding, kidding-- at least I don't care much for that kind of contest. Makes it a little hard to relax, right? And if you don't mind me saying so, you don't really seem like the competitive type, anyway.

[ In reality, the whole contest thing could have been less stressful than what he's being more or less forced to admit right now. He gives Chuuya his best "I'm grimacing but also visibly doing my best to twist this into an honest smile" face. ]

That's... well. I suppose you're right, there.

[ He doesn't really mind him saying it! But it's still a bit of a sore area for him. ]
