[ as soon as he found out it was kiryu's birthday he had time to prepare and now that he and kiryu are dating, the need to make this great is even more real. luckily when you own your own club that isn't open during the day, you're pretty set!! he invites everyone over but it's, of course, a surprise for kiryu. he just calls him and says to meet him at the club while he finishes up something so they can go out.

he's got the whole club decked out in party decorations and all of you are getting a party hat whether you want one or not!!! there's streamers and banners and all kinds of food and also booze, plus a band playing a mix of smooth jazz and lounge music which is the peak kiryu aesthetic.

majima's not nervous beforehand -- okay, maybe a little, but he really wants it to be perfect for kiryu. but everyone is for sure getting kicked out by four because he's gotta clean up quick for work afterwards, though he might sneak out after he cleans up. it's his boyfriend's birthday?? there are important things here.

anyways enjoy, mingle, have a good time, eat a ton of food and drink and celebrate kiryu! yeah! ]

[ Now that they're dating, Kiryu's birthday plans were mostly taking the day off and getting lunch with Majima. It's not like he doesn't celebrate it, really, but he'd gotten the call from his mom and even his dad so that was kind of all he'd need.

Kiryu, you threw an impromptu birthday for Majima and yet you weren't expecting anything for your birthday? Evidently not. He doesn't know what to expect when he arrives at the club, but it's definitely not a celebration quite to the degree that Majima's put together. ]

Woah.

[ Yep, he's surprised. Feel free to yell those very same words at him when you spot him, or give him a gift (if you brought one?) or whatever else. He'll be milling about and blushing because he's not used to this level of celebration but it's... so nice... ]

[ majima smiles a real, genuine smile for him!! isn't that nice?? and then takes his arm to show him around like he hasn't been to the club a million times. but look, he wants to show him everything. ]

There's food, an' booze, an' people are gonna leave their presents over there.

[ he points to a table. there is, in fact, already a present there from majima. nice. ]

And I invited a bunch of people, 'cause your birthday is really special.

[ It's so sweet... Kiryu goes along with the tour, embarrassed by all the attention but smiling all the same. Majima's so proud of what he did and he looks so happy, that's definitely his gift, right? Every bit of effort makes his eyes light up further. Majima did all this? For him? ]

Majima, I... I don't know what to say.

[ Should he grab the present? He may as well grab the present. ]

Thank you. You didn't have to do all this for me.

[It's not that she knows Kiryu all that well, because she doesn't. She's never even had a conversation with the man, actually, despite having gone on a double-date with him. But Majima had seemed excited, and more importantly she's interested in seeing what his club is like, so there's no harm in dropping in and saying hello. She's even brought a small present (it's a giftcard, which is impersonal, but you know what, it's also twenty-five bucks, so at least it's not a cheap impersonal gift).

But oh, the club itself . . . really, she's quite surprised. She'd vaguely visualized something dark and dimly lit, but this is elegant. The music isn't quite to her tastes, and of course the effect is a little marred by the brightly colored streamers and birthday decorations, but it's a pleasant sentiment.

She won't be staying long, but the next half-hour or so will hardly be torture.]

[The problem with inviting Fawkes to a birthday party is that he's going to be inclined to bring a gift, which in turn means that there's always a chance that everyone is going to be exposed to Fawkes's occasionally twisted sense of humor. Oh, it's true that he sometimes comes up with gifts that are thoughtful and sentimental; it's just also that sometimes he, well...doesn't.

Today's offering is somewhere in the middle, in that it is a generally reasonable shirt, but the fact that he'd gone out of his way to find one with what is apparently tiger-print lining is probably not a coincidence.

(All things considered, it's probably also as much a gift for Majima as it is for Kiryu. But who's counting.)

ANYWAY. He is here, he has a gift in tow, and he is ready for a party. And that's really the point here, isn't it?]

[ Truthfully... Kaz has had to replace a lot of his shirts since Retrospec gave him the gift of being ripped, so he's totally grateful and completely misses the fact that this is the kind of shirt that's going to make Majima want to punch him. (In a good way.) ]

[After all the help he'd gotten from Kiyru looking for a new apartment and putting him up for a few weeks, Tatsuo wanted to give his friend a nice gift for his birthday. Spray painting a lawn ornament was just par the course for his friendship with Goro, because he'd known the other man since they were young. But his friendship with Kiryu is still new, and Tatsuo is still getting a feel for where his sense of humor lies. Appreciating what your friend gets for their birthday is different from appreciating it for yours.

So after looking through about most of the store in Tisse, Tatsuo finally hit on something he thought would be appropriate. The store is even nice enough to wrap it for him.

After arriving at the party, Tatsuo mingles around, helping himself to the food and chatting with the other guests, Kiryu's gift tucked under one arm.]

[ Everyone's getting him gifts when he's usually the guy bringing them... it's way more flattery than Kiryu is used to, that's for sure. He spots Tatsuo and walks over to chat-- he honestly doesn't notice the gift at first. ]

[ once tatsuo has had a chance to get a drink, majima gets one for himself too and joins him!! ]

It's fuckin' crazy how many people Kazzy's been nice to, huh?

[So it's not a question that Tuuri would show up to this party; not only did she go on a totally awesome and wildly successful scavenger hunt with Kiryu, she also... works at the club hosting it, for the guy throwing the party. Three times the motivation to attend as anyone else in the city.

The problem is that since she mostly knows Kiryu from the scavenger hunt (and Majima), the only gift she could think of was... something cat-related. It seemed like a good idea when she bought it, but now that she's actually at the party, she's starting to have second thoughts. Tuuri can be found in the corner of the room, peeking every so often at the t-shirt tucked away in the gift bag and frowning at it, trying to decide if it's too late to get something else. It's probably too late to get something else!

[Fai's been to Majima's club several times by now, so he looks pretty well at ease as he gladly pops on his party hat and reaches for a beer. Thanks to work he wasn't able to make it to the party early to help set up, but he's already planning to offer to help break the party back down and do whatever else he can to help. Kiryu should get to spend time with his cute boyfriend on his birthday, darn it!

His gift for Kiryu is... a little odd, maybe, but it's given with love, and let's be real: Kiryu can totally pull off the cute nerd look.

Otherwise he'll just be hanging out and enjoying the company, although he eyes the band more than once. And maybe spends a little time just listening to the music and bopping his foot to the beat. And maybe wanders over once or twice between songs to chat with the musicians.]

[ Kiryu's definitely going to love the nerdy scarf even if Majima probably won't see the appeal. He's having a good time, surrounded by his friends and all the hard work his boyfriend put together, but he's always got time to say hi to Fai! ]

[Kaz has already informed other Kaz of his gift. It's sort of nice that these two are getting along enough that they exchanged birthday parties. They've not even known each other that long (and that's really great, because barely anyone gets the chance to hit it off this well).]

[Miller gets wrapped up in listening to the band, having appreciating the music himself and noting that he's never learned that many jazz songs to play. Maybe he should try it. In the meantime he's also scanning around occasionally for the Birthday Boy.]

[ Look, to be fair, Kiryu has basically only texted his cousin about the fact that he and Majima are now dating. Everyone else... has either assumed what they like or been told by Majima, since he actually asked normal people for assistance and not a 16-year-old girl. It's a long story.

Kiryu's glad to see Miller though, he smiles as soon as he spots him. He's even been roped into wearing a party hat because Majima said so and that's just what you do. ]

( by all rights, this really isn't somewhere that yukine should be, but he figures it's all fine. after all, he was invited here so it isn't weird? man, he hopes it isn't weird. tightly holding onto his gift that he spent way too long trying to beautify, he glances around to find kaz or at least majima, but when he turns up short, he ends up filing into a booth.

where he keeps the present carefully guarded on the table as he listens to the sounds of the band.
