WHO: Kiryu, Majima, Anya, Mafuyu, Makoto (+ basically any friends of Majima and Kaz, they're all invited and please feel free to crash)
WHERE: Kiryu's apartment (don't worry, he has a porch)
WHEN: 5/14 evening
WHAT: It's Majima's Birthday and he wasn't gonna tell anyone but then Anya told Kiryu which means everyone knows now
WARNINGS: None, this is gonna be cute.

[ If Kiryu had known it was Majima's birthday sooner, he might have done something cool like gotten him dinner reservations somewhere fancy or actually bought him maybe more than a nice bottle of booze. But well, beggars can't be choosers and Majima's the kind of person who'd try to pay even on his birthday, so this will have to do.

Kiryu's apartment is "decked out" and by that I mean there's chips, snacks, hot wings, salad, whatever kind of party food you could feasibly cater on short-notice. Soda, beer, and ice are chilling in a cooler in the kitchen (please drink responsibly or be your own bartender) while people mingle about the living room and hang out on the porch. If you bought a gift, that's awesome, leave it on the table marked "GIFTS" (via a sticky-note, sorry.) If not, that's okay, too. Hopefully enough people show up that it won't be too awkward, but there's a cake in the fridge for later so don't just steal food and leave, dammit. You have to stay for cake.

It's the best Kaz could put together on short notice, but it's a party. And like any good party, the moment Majima walks in, you have to make sure you yell: SURPRISE! Oh, shit, there he is now-- ]

[He puts both hands earnestly on Kiryu's shoulders. Looks him dead in the eye. Even tilts his head down to do so, so it's over his ever-present glasses (it's really a shame because those eyes are really, really blue).]

Please tell me you'll go up there with me for a round.

[ Sunglasses indoors... ah, but Kiryu would never ask Miller to change. He nods, just as serious. ]

Of course. Name the song, I'm there.

[ He loves... karaoke... ]

[ Time to queue it up and SING QUEEN BADLY. ]

[Want to see a squally singer and a strangely earnest singer cut their teeth on Queen? Well, that's what happens. And at least Kaz is shaming himself with company. And when it's done he's already half dragging Kiryu away with an arm companionably around his shoulders.]

It's always better when you can get people up there with you. [If one is making an ass of themselves at least it's good to go about it as a tactical unit.]

[ There's no shame in karaoke, Miller! Kiryu smiles the whole way through the song, belting it out and leaning into his shoulder as the song wraps up. ]

Yeah. Karaoke's not the same without friends.

[ Karaoke is The Best. ]

[It really is. Next to playing his guitar that is, but karaoke is very high up there. ~~It would be better if Kaz didn't occasionally miss his quicktime event.~~]

Have you sang with Majima yet?

Seems like the birthday boy would like to spend more time with you.

[He has to be careful how much he teases. Kaz isn't particularly biased about whether he hooks up with men or women (though women seem more partial to him and often men are more ridiculous than even him) but if he's going to make jokes about friends flirting, he doesn't exactly want to go openly questioning their sexuality.]

[Mostly he just wants to make fun of them thinking so highly of one another out of nowhere.]

Ah, we did sing earlier. It was really fun, he's really enjoying himself.

[ Yeah, that insinuation went right over his head, unfortunately... Kiryu is down for guys and girls, he just... doesn't see Majima as having any feelings towards him. ]

I'm glad I was able to pull this together for him.

He's a hard worker, he deserves a little downtime. I should see if he'd be willing to join me on-

[He pauses, like there's something that unsettles him. The song he's thinking of recommending? It's his song. He wrote it. But he didn't write a song, did he? He's fussed with tunes here and there. But a full song...]

Can you show me the song list for the karaoke machine? I promise it'll be quick.

[It won't be there. He knows it won't. But he needs to check.]

Hm? Sure, no problem. I have it hooked up to an app.

[ Kaz hands Miller his phone, pulling up the songlist. Hopefully they have whatever song he's thinking of... ]

[Kaz has a puzzled face as he's looking through the song-listing, muttering lyrics to himself. Lyrics that match nothing on here. And unfortunately they're a little off tune.]

[It's like something's just gotten into his head.]

Hmn... nothing... Wait, nevermind. I don't know why I was reminded...

I think-

[Miller squints behind his ever-present glasses, staring off at some uncertain thought.] I think I wrote a song. It was meant to be performed by a girl.

[ It's ok, Kaz, Kiryu would never tell you you're off-key. He doesn't recognize the song either, though. Understandably. ]

Did you get one of those hallucinomemories?

...Maybe?

[But he says it like he doesn't know. Like it's so real to him that it shouldn't be a trick of the imagination.]

[He'll pick up his guitar later and try to make a recording. As long as he doesn't sing, it should be fine.]

Wait, have you?

[ Kaz nods. He's had quite a few... ]

Not right this second, but I've had more than a couple.

Wait... [Okay, now he has Miller's attention.]

[The blond tugs him over out of the way, so he wouldn't disturb the rest of the party. Asking strangers what it's like, how it happens, it doesn't make it real like it happening to Kiryu.]

What were they like? Do they feel different?

[He doesn't want to ruin Majima's day by talking about all this in front of him.]

[ Oh, Miller, if only you knew. Majima's usually the first person to find out when Kiryu gets one...

Kiryu goes along with him, he understands his need for privacy though. There are some memories he wouldn't share, either. ]

For me, it's kind of like... remembering something I knew all along. So I remembered how to fight a bit: that one happened while Majima was trying to teach me how to fight. But I've also had cases where it's kind of like deja vu. I'll be doing something, and remember doing it, except it's... me but not quite me?
