majima's birthday mingle bash
WHO: Kiryu, Majima, Anya, Mafuyu, Makoto (+ basically any friends of Majima and Kaz, they're all invited and please feel free to crash)
WHERE: Kiryu's apartment (don't worry, he has a porch)
WHEN: 5/14 evening
WHAT: It's Majima's Birthday and he wasn't gonna tell anyone but then Anya told Kiryu which means everyone knows now
WARNINGS: None, this is gonna be cute.
[ If Kiryu had known it was Majima's birthday sooner, he might have done something cool like gotten him dinner reservations somewhere fancy or actually bought him maybe more than a nice bottle of booze. But well, beggars can't be choosers and Majima's the kind of person who'd try to pay even on his birthday, so this will have to do.
Kiryu's apartment is "decked out" and by that I mean there's chips, snacks, hot wings, salad, whatever kind of party food you could feasibly cater on short-notice. Soda, beer, and ice are chilling in a cooler in the kitchen (please drink responsibly or be your own bartender) while people mingle about the living room and hang out on the porch. If you bought a gift, that's awesome, leave it on the table marked "GIFTS" (via a sticky-note, sorry.) If not, that's okay, too. Hopefully enough people show up that it won't be too awkward, but there's a cake in the fridge for later so don't just steal food and leave, dammit. You have to stay for cake.
It's the best Kaz could put together on short notice, but it's a party. And like any good party, the moment Majima walks in, you have to make sure you yell: SURPRISE! Oh, shit, there he is now-- ]

[ She does kind of live in his apartment. And eat all his food. Kaz is seriously considering her plan. I mean, it also means he doesn't have to move the couch... ]
You don't think he'd mind if it's in the way?
no subject
[ He won't mind because Mafuyu won't mind, stepping away from the couch and shoving Kaz away from it too to leave it behind and focus on someplace more important, like maybe the kitchen where he can let her judge the party platters. ]
If he complains about it later, just send him to me and I'll set him straight!
no subject
[ Kaz smiles. This is clearly all the convincing he needed. Or maybe he just wanted an excuse to not have to move the couch? Who knows. He follows her to the kitchen anyway. ]
I didn't realize you and Majima were friends.
no subject
[ Like. Just the one time, and it wasn't a party so much as she twisted his arm into agreeing to buy her pizza. But Mafuyu believes they're friends regardless, as she does with people until they tell her otherwise (or even if they do, their claims get ignored, of course they're friends...) ]
I didn't know you guys were friends either— [ She doesn't sound surprised though, as she goes ahead and looks through Kaz's fridge. There's a carton of juice on the door; she lifts it and gives it a shake to see how much is left- looks up at Kaz- can she have this? ] What food does he like? What're we serving at the party?
[ All that not lifting the couch has made her hungry. ]
no subject
[ That's exactly how you make friends, good job, Mafuyu. He nods when she picks up the juice carton. He was almost done with that anyway. ]
I'm just getting us snacks. Wings, chips, that kind of thing. I ordered it, should be showing up soon. [ Alas, that means there's no food in the fridge. Besides, perhaps, cake. ] I don't know what he likes exactly... so I got two cakes in case he doesn't like strawberry. There's that and chocolate.
no subject
Strawberry's my favorite! What about candles? It's a good thing you bought two cakes- we have to fit so many on them!
no subject
Nice. I like strawberry a lot, too. [ He smiles. ] Think we can fit 24 candles on his cake? If we stick them close together it should be fine, right?
no subject
[ She opens the fridge again and scrutinizes the cakes. They could probably fit all 24 candles on one cake if they bunch them all up, but then there'll be no room left for frosting, which is objectively the best part about cake. ]
I dunno. We still have to write something with icing on top too, so we have to leave room for that.
[ Birthday cakes with one's name written in bright red icing, she thinks that's what she told Majima once, and she can't let him down now. ]
no subject
Maybe if we line them up around the edge?
[ You gotta have the name and everything, after all. Otherwise it's just not a proper birthday cake. ]
no subject
[ No use wondering when they can go ahead and try. Mafuyu goes ahead and pulls out of the cakes out of the fridge, carefully setting it on the kitchen island. ]
Do you have icing so we can pipe something on it? Then we can stick the candles around the edge or anywhere there's space left.
[ She motions around the edge of the cake— actually more like the sides. Around the cake. Candles sticking sideways, there is so much space, they can fit so many sideways candles. ]
no subject
I bought some of those icing-tubes.
[ He opens a drawer and pulls out some pink icing as well as two small boxes with a dozen candles each. He's prepared, dammit. ALSO UM, MAFUYU... that. That plan will not work. Maybe let Kaz do the candles... ]
Just "Happy Birthday Majima" should be fine, right?
no subject
We only need this much space— the rest of it, we can write "HBD Majima"! Or does he have a shorter nickname? That way, we can draw something on the side with the extra space!
[ The space intended for candles, but they'll save a lot of space just bunching all the candles together to make one large candle fire. Besides, how cute would it be to have a crudely drawn cat or lopsided flower drawn on his cake? It's all about personalization. ]
no subject
Hmm, I don't know if he has any nicknames... We could write "Goro"? That's his first name.
[ If they're going to draw something, they have to go all out, obviously. Kaz is totally on board for this plan. ]
Maybe "Goronyan?" That's his character's name in Last Fantasy Online.
no subject
[ Mafuyu laughs, because wtf that's cute and doesn't match her view of Majima at all. ]
Okay! I'll let you write it out, and I can draw... paw prints on the side! For cats!
[ She's pro at squeezing out dollops of frosting. Anything else, I hope Kaz is a passable artist. ]
no subject
[ A catgirl, technically... Majima is surprisingly shameless. ]
Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.
[ Kaz's "hand-writing" is not... the best. But he tried ]
How's that look? Should I write in the "nyan"?
no subject
You left some space above the B and under the H-- maybe you can split it up and squeeze the nyan in there so we can have as much room as possible to draw.
[ NY

Majima can practice for the treasure hunt by cracking this code ]
no subject
[ IT DOESN'T... ]
How's that?
no subject
Good! Now we have plenty of space to draw! [ The entire bunch of candles she goes ahead and sticks to the right of the words, held up mostly by each other than the frosting, and picks up the tube of icing.
She promised paw prints, which is easy because they're just circles. Mafuyu does not draw circles. She squeezes a little pile of icing— three smaller ones around the top edge of the mass of icing— and continues to make mountainous frosting paw prints along the bottom edge of the cake. ]
no subject
Looks good.
[ I mean, it looks like a mess, but there no way Majima won't appreciate the effort that went into it, right? Right. More icing is always better. ]
no subject
Mafuyu does look proud though, stepping back to admire their artistry. ]
Okay, cake's done! What time's he coming? I want to light the candles!
no subject
Good job.
[ Kaz is way proud of all your hard work, Mafuyu. Majima will surely appreciate it. ]
He said he'd leave work early, but he starts work pretty late, so maybe like 5 or 6?
[ Definitely don't light the candles now, Mafuyu....!! ]
