majima's birthday mingle bash

WHO: Kiryu, Majima, Anya, Mafuyu, Makoto (+ basically any friends of Majima and Kaz, they're all invited and please feel free to crash)
WHERE: Kiryu's apartment (don't worry, he has a porch)
WHEN: 5/14 evening
WHAT: It's Majima's Birthday and he wasn't gonna tell anyone but then Anya told Kiryu which means everyone knows now
WARNINGS: None, this is gonna be cute.

[ If Kiryu had known it was Majima's birthday sooner, he might have done something cool like gotten him dinner reservations somewhere fancy or actually bought him maybe more than a nice bottle of booze. But well, beggars can't be choosers and Majima's the kind of person who'd try to pay even on his birthday, so this will have to do.

Kiryu's apartment is "decked out" and by that I mean there's chips, snacks, hot wings, salad, whatever kind of party food you could feasibly cater on short-notice. Soda, beer, and ice are chilling in a cooler in the kitchen (please drink responsibly or be your own bartender) while people mingle about the living room and hang out on the porch. If you bought a gift, that's awesome, leave it on the table marked "GIFTS" (via a sticky-note, sorry.) If not, that's okay, too. Hopefully enough people show up that it won't be too awkward, but there's a cake in the fridge for later so don't just steal food and leave, dammit. You have to stay for cake.

It's the best Kaz could put together on short notice, but it's a party. And like any good party, the moment Majima walks in, you have to make sure you yell: SURPRISE! Oh, shit, there he is now-- ]

Yep! I made way too many, so I thought I'd see if I could help out!

[Since Kiryu is being generally pretty welcoming, Fai goes ahead and steps inside, though he doesn't go much past the doorway.]

You can have as many of these as you want, of course! Since I did promise you cookies. But I've still got more, so if these run out I'll just bring more for our coffee date this week~

[ Homemade cookies... he'll have to make sure they don't get eaten before he gets to try one. ]

Here, feel free. Come in. [ He waves him over. ] Yeah, that sounds great. What kind did you make for this time?

[Now that he's got the actual go-ahead, Fai smiles and crosses over to where Kiryu is, and presents the tupperware containers to him.]

Dark chocolate chili and chewy brown sugar! The chili cookies are a lot better than they sound, I promise! I was a little hungover yesterday, so there are... something like eight dozen cookies still in my kitchen. I bake when I'm miserable. [He laughs]

Is there anything I can do to help you get set up?

So they're spicy? Sounds interesting.

[ Spicy cookies? Huh. Kiryu accepts the containers anyway, setting them on the counter by the kitchen. ]

Damn, that's a lot... Did something happen?

[ You could help... or Kiryu could fret over you, Fai. ]

Oh, you know.... The guy I've been flirting with decided to text me the other night at three in the morning to let me know that he was going to prom with someone else. [Fai flaps a hand dismissively, as if this sort of thing happens all the time.] Getting drunk sounded like a really good idea at the time!

[Christ, Fai, you can't tell anyone else this shit, but you just blurt it all out for poor Kiryu?

He shrugs, and grins.]

Nothing important! Now what can I do to help?

Ouch. Sorry to hear that.

[ Kaz knows that feel, bro. Or at the very least he is extremely sympathetic because that is his super-power. He is here for you. ]

At least something good came out of it. These cookies look great.

[ He smiles, hoping to ease Fai's worries. ]

Wanna help me set out the rest of the snacks?

Mm, you're right! [Cheerful grin. Aggressive cheerfulness. That is Fai's super-power.] I'm just happy to make my friends happy!

[He looks around, orienting himself in the apartment/locating the kitchen, and nods.]

Sure, I can do that! Do you mind if I steal a beer a little early while we set things up?

[ Kaz will make you feel better if he can, Fai... ]

Yeah, that's the spirit. Hanging out with friends helps.

[ I mean, the faking it is pretty bad, but you do what you can, right? ]

Sure, go ahead. The cooler is by the snacks. There's a few in with the sodas.

[The aggressive smile melts back down into something more genuine at that. Fai is friendly, but over the years he's had trouble keeping actual friends--probably because he has a tendency to shove them away the moment they start getting too close, knowing too much. It's nice to think that he has more than a small handful of friends again, even if the majority of them are brand new.]

It does. Thank you, by the way. For inviting me.

[He nods and heads for the kitchen, still talking.]

I'll pay you back, or run and get some more after a while if we need more. Everything in here is going out there?

It's no problem. I'm always happy to have people over.

[ Kaz will walk with you, Fai. Truthfully, he had a bit of trouble keeping friends since he devoted so much time to work... but getting Retrospec has proven to be enough of a distraction that he's actually letting himself talk to people. It's nice. ]

You don't have to worry, there's more in the fridge if we run out.

[Fai laughs aloud at that]

I don't know, you may not want to admit that too loud! I can find my way back here now that I know where you are~

[He grins, obviously teasing, and starts sorting through the snacks Kiryu still has in the kitchen.]

So you're pretty good friends with Majima, huh?

It's no problem, you can come over any time.

[ He really means that, obviously. He cares about his friends, even if... maybe he's not the best guy to stop you from drinking, Fai. ]

Yeah. We text a lot.

[ They also hang out and drink together and talk about their feelings. ]

Hmm, I might have to do that! What kinds of movies do you like? Maybe we could have a movie night!

[It's okay, he'll get it under control. Hopefully.]

Ah, that's really great! He's a nice guy. Maybe we could invite him over for movie night too? If you'd be okay with that of course!

Oh, the movies I like tend to be kind of boring... I like sad stuff or like, period dramas.

[ Maybe Majima can show him to love action flicks, who knows. ]

Yeah, that's a good idea! Though he works nights, so it might have to be more of a movie afternoon...

Well, it wasn't a period piece at the time, but I really like Kurosawa's Ikiru. It's so sad and moving.

[Look Fai isn't quite to the level of obsession with movies as he is with music, but he's a bit of a buff. He won't judge.]

Hmm, maybe I should bring someone too! Although if I did that, maybe we should do it at my place instead, so we don't overrun your apartment. Iiiii... [Oh god, who would he bring though? It's not like he's dating or anything...] Ah, I could bring Jirou! We could have drinks and everything! But Majima doesn't have to drink before work of course~

Yeah, my dad really liked his movies, so I got them all from him.

My apartment isn't much bigger than yours, really. But I do have enough space for everyone, and I could cook! Since I still need to sneak you two over for a dinner sometime!
