WHO: Rachel Hishimura and YOU
WHERE: Tribunal Terrace (General Hospital), Apprassage, Tisse (Expressive)
WHEN: Anytime in the final two weeks of April
WHAT: Various; one on one prompts also included
WARNINGS: None, will edit if they come up
[i]
[Being the daughter of a doctor, Rachel had always felt like she was being drawn along the same career path as her mother. Graduation and finals were looming, and one would think that the best idea would be to scale things back and focus on their results... but honestly, Rachel was a born overachiever and honestly felt weird when she wasn't keeping herself busy.
Which was why she was still volunteering at the General Hospital some days, usually after school. It wasn't for too long, and she was still able to get some studying in. Thankfully, certain people had helped her realize it wasn't a good idea to overwork herself, so even if she was still going a bit hard, she knew she needed to step back.
On weekends, she could be found volunteering at the information desk, and on days after school, she was helping in the emergency department, either helping restock carts or assisting new arrivals in the waiting area.]

[This was embarrassing.
During the water war last week, Rachel had worn a pair of her mom's sunglasses, and amidst all the chaos, they'd fallen off of her head. Her mother hadn't missed them yet, but Rachel did, and that meant she had to find them... preferable before she discovered her absence.
That was why she was trying to retrace her steps and find them. She ended up crawling around on the sidewalk, looking in trash cans and dumpsters, inspecting trees... She'd already been to the nearest station's lost and found and no one had turned them in.
Which meant they were either still lost, or someone had taken them. In either case, Rachel wasn't giving up, no matter how ridiculous she looked. And in the event she stopped someone...]
Excuse me! Have you by any chance found a pair of metal frame sunglasses? They would have been lying around sometime after the weekend...
[Rachel, there's a leaf in your hair...]
[iii]
[Since this whole business with Retrospec started, Rachel had been making an effort to be more social. Put herself out more. With high school ending soon, it felt like that was the way to go with things, right? Be more open to social situations, and whatnot.
She'd already participated in the water war and Founders Day more than she had before. What was spending an afternoon after school in a coffee shop compared to that?
Turns out, you'll feel more self conscious about things if you try to force it instead of just going into it with enthusiasm or more naturally. In any case, she's ordered a coffee, and just sitting at a table in the coffee shop, hiding behind a book.
It's kind of conspicuous.]

[Rachel had been staying after school (no volunteering today). She had gotten caught up on working on something in the computer lab, and it was easier to keep momentum than go home and work on her computer. In any case, she was beginning to head home when she passed the music room, and heard something coming from inside it.
Was that someone playing the piano? Eyes widening for a bit, she turned to pop her head inside, feeling compelled to find out who was playing...]

Her hands hover over the keys a little. Rachel might be able to see the expression on Melody's face, which is one of... let's called it frustrated concentration.
She snaps out of it, though, because she does suddenly spot that the door has opened, and her expression goes back to the more calm and collected one she usually wears.]
...Did you need something from this room?
no subject
Ah, no! I'm sorry... I just heard someone playing in here, and I wondered who it was. I've never seen you practice here in school before, Melody.

[Congratulations Rachel, you've achieved the goal of having friends over twice. That's a new achievement!
In any case, Rachel had finally managed to get together with Micah like the two of them had planned, so she could introduce him to some of the shows she enjoyed. She'd been nervous about it at first, but as things went along... she'd gotten a bit less so.
Once they finished something, Rachel would get up and cross the distance to her TV so she could take out the disk.]
... Well, that's one down. Like I said, I figured it would be best to start with something pretty short. What did you think of it?

[The whole water war thing had been such a huge mess, Rachel wanted to make it up to Maya. Of course, she hadn't so much as framed it in those words, but that was her motivation for asking her to see a movie together that Thursday evening.
But maybe there was more to it than that. She liked spending time with Maya, in addition to the others. The idea of spending a night towards the end of the week alone just didn't seem as attractive to her when one had regular friends now. A movie seemed like a natural suggestion to do to spend time with a friend.
In any case, she was waiting on a streetcorner in a part of Tisse they'd agreed to meet in. They hadn't really decided on a particular movie yet, but Flix was within walking distance so they could easily decide on something. All there was to do now was wait for Maya to show up.]

Regardless, she's there - albeit a little late - trotting up with a wave and a grin on her face.]
Yo, hey! Sorry I'm running late.
no subject
That's fine! I'm perfectly happy to wait, and I checked all the showtimes... we have plenty of time before the next ones start.

[Iris echoes the question back curiously. She's got some time. May as well see if she can help out.]
Where did you see them last?
no subject
Well, I was wearing them during the big water party. I'm sure I had them at the start near the high school. I lost them around here in this general area, I think, when everyone started trying to collect points.
no subject
[She winces sympathetically.]
That's gonna be tough. They might've been picked up by someone or maybe even tossed during the clean up. Were they nice?

Being a haematologist usually meant consults, so he's not at the emergency room anymore. Luckily for him, he's able to recognize Rachel due to her profile picture. ]
Ah, hello. Are you helping out here today?
no subject
Ah... Mr. Trevelyan. Yeah, I am. I volunteer here after school and on weekends, sometimes.
no subject
He nods a little before replying. It's rare that he hasn't run into her more than a few passing times, but that's just how schedules are. ]
I hope you find it enriching. [ Well, some people come here just to get a foot in the medical school door, but Rachel doesn't seem to be that kind of person. ] How has the patient flow been so far?

[Rachel had intended to invite Alicia over to study for finals. She hadn't expected her to say yes, with her friend's schedule, but lo and behold, the stars seemed to align to make it possible. Rachel was happy for that fact.
So of course a certain memory had to come along and leave Rachel incredibly distracted. Well, more than one, but one was weighing on her head a bit more than the other. So, even as they were in Rachel's house's dining room, going over their material, Rachel looked more than a little distracted.
The most damning thing? Getting a question wrong when Alicia tried to quiz her! She even answered with something from an entirely different subject, too...]
no subject
Except Rachel was clearly not all there this afternoon. It was one thing to be a little distant when answering quiz questions. It was another entirely to be distracted from the topic at hand, and she set down the book she was working from to frown worriedly at her.]
Okay, hold on a second. Madagascar is not a branch of government. Rachel, are you sure you're all right?

I'm sorry, Alicia. I'm just... I guess I'm a little bit distracted tonight...

U-Uhm. Whose dog is this...? [She quickly puts it on, her gaze following the leash to Yukiko] Ah, Yukiko? Is this yours?
[Rachel tells herself to calm down. She's not as allergic to dogs as she is cas, and she hasn't touched any of its fur yet...]
no subject
Yes? I'm sorry. I didn't mean for him to scare you, Rachel. He doesn't bite or anything.

Hmmm, so what's your story? Just like hanging around sick people?

[Rachel had received a text message from Maya asking her to meet her at a particular location. She'd provided an address and everything, along with an attached photograph. Rachel felt something odd about it, and spent the day before pondering over just why it seemed familiar.
When she got there, it hit her. It was a short distance away from the community theater where they'd set up for Founders' Day; Rachel thought of that first because it was the precise area where she'd first overheard Maya and gotten her first introduction to both her and Retrospec.
Rachel smiled. That was a little nostalgic, wasn't it? Either way, it'd be good if she found Maya. The last seven days had been pretty crazy, so Rachel was a little worried something was wrong.]
Eh? Maya? Are you around?
no subject
Weird side: More dreams, more... memories? Regardless, it was sticking in her mind, especially with the stress of things lately.]
