one. pumpkin patch princess

[ "game on!" is a chilren's activity center. more specifically, it's a children's activity center where rayne fairweather works, and they've got a pumpkin patch booth set up where kids (or adults, they're not picky) can come to paint or carve their own pumpkins, depending on age. rayne is doing a mixture of both, a curving design of flowers decorating the smiling face of her jack-o-lantern.

obviously every pumpking she does is happy rather than spooky.

so just as obviously she has a pile of candy beside her, in a variety of flavors. her "favorite" is "everything!!!!!" and as she finishes her latest artistic masterpiece she enthusiastically lifts the lid and pours out...even more candy.

good god. she's figured out how to game the pumpkin system. when you spot her collecting Way Too Much Sugar she beams, waving at the pumpkin. ]

Isn't this the best type of magic???

[ she's gonna get cavities at this rate. ]

two. the missing links

[ rayne can be found loitering around wiffle-waffle if you'd like to grab her for an item quest before she gets infected by like. everyone she loves and adores. thanks guys!!!! ]

three. monster mash

[ chronologically the first virus rayne gets hit with is the mummy strain. what does this mean? well. at night she looks gaunt and instead of extra bandage appendages? yeah, her hair is moving with a will of it's own, occasionally wrapping around her arms or neck or what have you in a mimickry of traditional mummy's bandages. then comes the merperson strain, with sharp teeth in a double-line and a fondness for water, iridescent scales going up her legs rather like fancy leggings, and creeping up her neck out from under her dress. third she gets hit with the harpy strain, her feet hooking into talons and not quite managing to pass themselves off as cute heels. those are definitely just bird talons. she's still changing, though not just now, but that's as far as she's gone for this prompt.

so the thing about the mummy strain she has? it makes her VENGEFUL, willing to chase down wrong doers! but the thing about the personality she has in general mixing with this at the start?

yeah. so. if you happen to litter, either on accident or on purpose, there will be a NEFARIOUS HISS as some long blonde hair wraps around your wrist and a VENGEFUL rayne stands there in all her monstrous glory, to say: ]

Pick that up! There's a trashcan right over there.

[ she can also be found getting VENGEFUL about other minor infractions such as jaywalking, not putting your grocery cart back in the cart corral thing, or failing to wipe your feet off before you enter some indoors location and tracking in mud.

she's got this monster thing down PAT. ]

b. singalongs
[ or maybe you hear a lovely song near the beach or the park fountain? rayne can be found sitting on a Scenic Rock at the beach or on the park fountain's edge singing to herself.

or, you know, LURING someone to her RUDELY. ]

Flower, gleam and glow. Let your power shine...Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine. Heal what has been hurt; change the fates' design. Save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine - what once was mine...

[ it's her first memory, and the song loops in her head sometimes. ]

c. shiny that's mine
[ or maybe you've dropped, like, a penny. or something shiny. a treasured locket? a pen with one of those silver cappy things? if it gets dropped too near to rapunzel she'll immediately pick it up, clutching it to her chest and looking Determined if you come closer. ]

It's mine! [ it is not, but it's probably minor enough to let her have it...unless it's an IMPORTANT shiny thing. ]

[ one of the photographers is dying because this whole scene is too cute, even with akutagawa's constant Face. at least he listens instead of trying to be contrary or find his own way, and pulls his own bowl and scooper over. ]

Real organs are suspended in cavities within our bodies.

[ rolling up his sleeve, akutagawa reaches inside with the little scooper and begins scraping the poor pumpkins brains off the walls of its skull. it is indeed very disgusting and goopy in there, and cold as well, but at least he doesn't complain about it. ]

Ideally, if you were to slice open a person just right,

[ he picks his pumpkin up, turns it upside down once again-- its innards fall out of the too-big hole with a nasty glerping noise, the bowl tilting with the weight of it all. ]

everything inside of them would slide out at once, landing in an organized pile at their feet.

[ 0k..... well, that's good to know!! nutsy over here is picking a knife back up and once again impaling the poor pumpkin's face in an attempt to carve out another triangular eye. it really is easier without pumpkin glerm oozing everywhere...! ]

and yet, rayne looks perfectly cheerful through the explanation. or, well. sort of like. confused??? obviously she's never met anyone like this but - ]

Ummm, aren't things a little too attached inside?

You think our innards are all just welded together and fused with our flesh? One large, bloody mass?

[ akutagawa isn't an anatomy teacher-- he's not much of a teacher or mentor period, so he might be the wrong person to ask even with his interest in the macabre and gory. the camera people are unsettled, their eyes begging rayne not to let this hose beast get started on his nasty bullshit. little do they know it's far too late..... ]

That's somewhat the case. There are membranes that form sacs to keep the organs from splashing all over the place, but generally they're only seated around one another. You could easily pick up someone's heart, for example.

[ he takes some pumpkin gloop in his hand and gives it an edgy and menacing SQUISH in his fist. the sound it makes is hideous.

Did you not do dissections while you were in school? Even I did the frog.
