one. pumpkin patch princess

[ "game on!" is a chilren's activity center. more specifically, it's a children's activity center where rayne fairweather works, and they've got a pumpkin patch booth set up where kids (or adults, they're not picky) can come to paint or carve their own pumpkins, depending on age. rayne is doing a mixture of both, a curving design of flowers decorating the smiling face of her jack-o-lantern.

obviously every pumpking she does is happy rather than spooky.

so just as obviously she has a pile of candy beside her, in a variety of flavors. her "favorite" is "everything!!!!!" and as she finishes her latest artistic masterpiece she enthusiastically lifts the lid and pours out...even more candy.

good god. she's figured out how to game the pumpkin system. when you spot her collecting Way Too Much Sugar she beams, waving at the pumpkin. ]

Isn't this the best type of magic???

[ she's gonna get cavities at this rate. ]

two. the missing links

[ rayne can be found loitering around wiffle-waffle if you'd like to grab her for an item quest before she gets infected by like. everyone she loves and adores. thanks guys!!!! ]

three. monster mash

[ chronologically the first virus rayne gets hit with is the mummy strain. what does this mean? well. at night she looks gaunt and instead of extra bandage appendages? yeah, her hair is moving with a will of it's own, occasionally wrapping around her arms or neck or what have you in a mimickry of traditional mummy's bandages. then comes the merperson strain, with sharp teeth in a double-line and a fondness for water, iridescent scales going up her legs rather like fancy leggings, and creeping up her neck out from under her dress. third she gets hit with the harpy strain, her feet hooking into talons and not quite managing to pass themselves off as cute heels. those are definitely just bird talons. she's still changing, though not just now, but that's as far as she's gone for this prompt.

so the thing about the mummy strain she has? it makes her VENGEFUL, willing to chase down wrong doers! but the thing about the personality she has in general mixing with this at the start?

yeah. so. if you happen to litter, either on accident or on purpose, there will be a NEFARIOUS HISS as some long blonde hair wraps around your wrist and a VENGEFUL rayne stands there in all her monstrous glory, to say: ]

Pick that up! There's a trashcan right over there.

[ she can also be found getting VENGEFUL about other minor infractions such as jaywalking, not putting your grocery cart back in the cart corral thing, or failing to wipe your feet off before you enter some indoors location and tracking in mud.

she's got this monster thing down PAT. ]

b. singalongs
[ or maybe you hear a lovely song near the beach or the park fountain? rayne can be found sitting on a Scenic Rock at the beach or on the park fountain's edge singing to herself.

or, you know, LURING someone to her RUDELY. ]

[ it's her first memory, and the song loops in her head sometimes. ]

c. shiny that's mine
[ or maybe you've dropped, like, a penny. or something shiny. a treasured locket? a pen with one of those silver cappy things? if it gets dropped too near to rapunzel she'll immediately pick it up, clutching it to her chest and looking Determined if you come closer. ]

It's mine! [ it is not, but it's probably minor enough to let her have it...unless it's an IMPORTANT shiny thing. ]

[ one of the most important things in the world to rayne is the pendant that she got with her sister, lucille. it's a sunburst when both halves are pressed together, and she's worn it faithfully every day for years.

but when she's running away from one of the unfortunately monster'd retrospec users (she escapes this time, thankfully) rayne finds that the comforting pendant at her neck isn't there when she reflexively reaches up to play with it.

exhaustion turns to horror and derek may come across an increasingly worried blonde searching the ground in the early evening. ]

Oh no oh no oh no...where is it??

[Derek is floating around the city, just looking for someone to talk to. It's lonely being a ghost. He hears a girl and she sounded upset. He follows her voice until he sees a girl with long blonde hair. He floats right up behind her and curves around to look at her face.]

You loose something?

Oh! [ this is. sure a floating guy? um? but he seems friendly enough, so... ] My necklace, it matches my sister's.

[ she sounds genuinely distressed. ]

It's really important...

[Derek glides forward and swivels around to face the girl. He then gets righ up in her face. Wow Derek, personal space?]

A necklace you say? Hmmm... where did you have it last?

Um... [ give her a second. that's kinda close, dude. ] Just before I got chased by a...uh...werewolf? I think. Down the block a ways.

A werewolf, huh? That'd be interesting to see...

[Derek tilts his head to look down the dark block.]

But down there hmmm?

[His eyes shift to look at the girl.]

And you want my help? I mean, I can give it to you... for a price.

Um...what price? I do have some money, but...

[ how much of it...or what does he want, rather? ]

Oh, the price is simple really.

[Derek smirks mischievously.]

You just have to shake my hand in thanks when I find it.

Oh! Well, sure! That's absolutely easy.

[ she should maybe be more suspicious, but alas. ]

[Derek smirks. Oh, he's going to infect this girl. This was almost too easy!]

Yes, absolutely easy.

[He then turns around to the direction he pointed and takes out his wand.]

So, werewolf huh? Nothing a simple full body bind can't fix? Or... at least get out of the way.

[He glances back at the girl.]

You coming?

Well - yes! Do you have a plan?

[ she's following along. A full body bind though...what does he mean? ]

Plan? Who needs a plan when you've got magic?

[Derek floats down the street until he comes across a werewolf. He growls at Derek.]

Well, hello to you too.

[He raises his wand and points it at the werewolf.]

Petrificus Totalus!

[The werewolf's legs go ramrod straight and stick to it's side, falling to the ground.]

OK, you look for what ever you're looking for and I'll keep a look out for any other mangy beasts.

[ MAGIC??? magic. THERE'S MAGIC? and a wand.

like, he is also a ghost,,, but magic???

rayne looks shocked but jolts at the reminder she's looking for something - so she immediately gets to searching, more than willing to go around on hands and knees for the sake of her necklace. ]

[Another werewolf comes around the corner and Derek quickly full-body bids that one too. He then floats up to the girl.]

Lumos!

[A light appears on the end of his wand.]

Need a light?

Oh! Yes, thank you - [ and there! a glint of gold that rayne reaches down to pick up triumphantly. ] Thank you so much!!

[Derek lowers his wand, the light still glowing at the end.]

You find it?

[Soon, soon he'll infect her! And then onto another victim!]

Yes! Thank you so much. [ she holds out her hand since that's what he...wanted ]

[Finally!]

[small>Derek grabs the girls hand shakes it. And then instead of letting go, he yanks her forward and locks eyes with her.]

Look into my eyes!

[Feel the infection entering you!]

W - what?!

[ this is creepy? derek, you're being creepy. :( ]

[Derek repeats what he says.]

Look into my eyes!

[Derek reaches forward and grabs her head so she can't look away. Slime starts to ooze out from his hand on on to her head.]

[ well she sure is looking! ] I - what are you doing????

[Derek's voice comes out rasping in an eerie sort of way. He smirks and continues to keep his eyes locked on the girl in his clutches. He waits for the infection to take effect.]

Only what I must do of course... spread the infection...

[ well.

she'll go transparent, and his hand will slip through her. ]

The - what are you?!

[Derek sees that the infection is complete and smiles. He releases her head and floats back a foot or so.]

Ah, much better! Have fun kid.

[Derek will now start floating away to find his next victim.]
