WHERE: Sakura's dreamscapes
WHEN: August 19th
WHAT: Sakura could use some help escaping her dreamscapes, guys. Try not to get stuck in them.
WARNINGS: There's a lot, so gonna cover them underneath each prompt.
I. Church on the Hill
[When the dreamscape finally settles, a building will loom right in front of you – most likely a church, as the stone cross that sits at the very top is pretty conspicuous. However, given that the weather has suddenly shifted into a wet evening, rain clouds gathered ominously in the sky, the sight might not seem very godly.
The doors to the church appear shut. However, the silence is cut abruptly by the sound of broken… glass? Maybe a busted window?
Who knows. Have a look around: either through the church doors, or to hunt down the mystery of that noise. There might be plenty here to find.]
[ooc: this prompt will potentially feature human parasites of the worm variety, emotional/physical trauma and abuse (mostly discussed, some shown), and might involve a physical fight (though that can be worked around, just lemme know what you prefer)]
II. Matou Mansion
[When the dreamscape finally settles, you’re inside a house.
... Or, at the very least, a very long hallway. It is the stuff made of nightmares because it’s dark, it’s cold, it creaks with unexplainable noises, and even if you turn around, there won't be a door.
Looks like the only way is forward for now. This should go fiiiine.]
[ooc: this prompt will potentially feature the emotional/physical abuse of a child (discussed, not shown!), murder, discussion of human parasites, looooots of worms, and might involve a physical fight (though that can be worked around)]
III. All the World's Evil
[When the dreamscape finally settles, you’re in a large, expansive room – to call it a basement would not do it justice. It looks and feels like a crypt, instead, a place where the dead sleep, and the holes lining the walls won’t do anything to dissuade you from that thought. In fact, a whiff of the air comes back with the stink of decayed bodies, and though it might be faint, there seems to be… squirming noises.
No matter where you look, though, you won’t find anything living. The floors are bare. No bodies come crawling down the walls. It's as blank as a tomb. Instead, there are three potential ways to move forward. A wooden door to the left and a bolted door to the right – and then, a staircase that seems to lead up and up, to an unknown destination.
Try a door or try the stairs. Try something quick. Just because it seems empty doesn't mean someone isn't watching.]
[ooc: this prompt will potentially feature discussion of trauma and abuse, murder, possession, suicide ideation, a girl who is obviously not in her right mind, and will absolutely involve some level of a physical or mental battle. 'Cause, y'know. Dark Sakura is not very nice.]

I FINALLY GET TO WRITE FLAWLESS THANKS
in fact, he reacts immediately.
because as soon as he opens the door, an image comes to his mind. the tendrils shooting out from the door, grabbing him by the legs and pulling him down. unconsciousness fills his vision quickly and--
the image ends.
without taking a moment to understand what the fuck is happening, oda runs, deciding to take the stairs. ]
I am so fuckin happy rn
At least the stairs remain clear. Once he's high enough, Oda will notice that at the very top of a sloping corridor, there is a door that pulsates light.
... It won't give him a great feeling -- in fact, there is something very ominous about that light -- but it's either that door or try and face the tendrils behind him. The choice is his.]
no subject
but between that and the tendrils? he's definitely going to choose the door.
so he makes his way up there and, after taking a deep breath, he opens the door. ]
no subject
First things first -- every sense that Oda has, every nerve in his body, will tell him one basic truth: that thing is dangerous. Evil. Like it's filled with curses and will drown him in them should it be given the chance.
The second point of interest is that at the very base of that pillar is standing a girl.
It's a lot to take in, but sadly, there's one last surprise; before Oda can even take a few steps forward, another girl is going to intercept him, immediately trying to drag him behind a large rock or something as she hisses at him.
What are you doing here?!]
no subject
and while all of oda's senses are telling him that this is dangerous, he can't help but think that lone girl surrounded by so much evil looked...sad.
too bad he can't approach her, though, because this stranger pulls him behind the rock. but he recognizes her, if only slightly, from the picture that sakura once sent him ]
I don't know. [ he whispers back, his expression serious ] But I think Sakura's in trouble. I think she needs help. [ a pause ] Who's the girl by that...thing?
no subject
That's what's left of her.
Oda's still paying attention, yes? He'll note that the girl has a strange-looking sword in her hand, gripped tightly with a business-like intent.
The girl tells him to stay behind the rock, as she has to take care of this.
He is not to interfere.]
no subject
[ at first, he nods. silently, he accepts the state of sakura, his expression unchanging.
his eyes wander to the sword in the girl's hand, and then he looks her straight in the eye. ]
You're going to kill her, aren't you?
no subject
She absolutely intends to kill that girl. Oda can feel it, can't he, she muses -- the danger that lies in this room. It's like a sickness that will spread if left unchecked.
Killing Sakura is necessary.]
no subject
[ he nods, and looks back at the figure standing at the pillar. it's dangerous. it's evil. it's sad.
he could definitely sit and watch as sakura is killed by her own sister. in the back of his head, he thinks that this might be the smartest idea out of all of them.
but he's never been smart. so without a second thought, he runs away from the safety of the rock and the girl, and headfirst towards sakura.]
no subject
Though as Oda approaches, it becomes easier to see that the person is Sakura... and yet different. The hair is white, the eyes bloodshot red, and her body... well, it's covered in the same mess of tendrils that had attacked him in the basement.
Her head lolls to the side at his approach, a faint look of surprise cutting into a darkly amused smirk.]
Nee-san...? Did you bring a friend with you? How cute.
[Spoken to Oda now, voice slow and sensual]
Goodness, did you come to kill me, too?
no subject
and yet oda doesn’t stop until sakura—or whatever is left of her—notices him. she’s so different, he realizes, but somehow, he also feels like this is sakura, too. she’s just hurting.
he understands that, at least. ]
No. I don’t really agree with what she wants to do. [ he pauses, looking around. ] I want to talk.
no subject
[She... parrots him, head lulling to the other side, like a puppet with its strings cut. The girl looks at him as if he's mad.
Heaving behind him, Rin seems to share the sentiment. Again she tells Oda to leave this to her, go and hide, he is going to get himself killed--]
You should listen to my big sister. She'd know how disgusting I am. [Into a sneer her lips curl] It's so easy for her, deciding I need to die, like I never mattered to her--!
[Her voice arches, but just as soon smooths back, smile in place, a little unhinged but like she's in control here.]
I have no interest in what you have to say. But maybe if you flatter me, I'll consider letting you live a while longer...
no subject
[ he hears rin perfectly, but oda knows that it’s too late. if he turns back, he’ll most likely die.
so he stands his ground, and begins to talk, almost as if uncaring of whether he lives or dies. maybe that’s exactly what he feels. ]
Your sister— she betrayed you, didn’t she? To think that someone you loved would betray you like that... that must hurt. A lot.
no subject
You really don't know anything.
[The smirk is gone now. Sakura rears back a little, head angled like she's sneering down her nose, and her eyes are flashing with barely contained fury]
Love? I never loved her.
[The tendrils of her garb twist and slide like snakes]
I hated her, always prancing her successes in my face--! But it's different now because she's the weak one! She's the one whose lesser! It doesn't matter how hard she struggles...
[A curse behind Oda. Giant shadows are rising from the ground, three of them, and Sakura's sister readies her blade]
I'm going to kill her.
[Smiling gracefully now, as if she's found her calm again]
I'm the stronger one now.
no subject
[ he hesitates for a moment, aware of the presence of the curses, but not facing away from sakura. if anything, he’s trying to step closer to her, slowly. ]
The world betrayed you. You suffered and had all your dreams, your life, ruined. So you want to burn the whole world down. Because it made you suffer. I know how that feels. So I won’t stop you if you want to burn the world down. I’ll take it down with you, if that’s what you want.
[ it’s true. in his memories, he tore down his own world as a self destructive revenge, and he would not doubt to do it again. however— ]
It won’t make you happy though, Sakura. Not for long. It’ll just leave you empty in the end. And that’s even worse than death.
1/2
her hair color seems to... shift]
no subject
He can certainly try, however slow, but Oda will feel those shadows pressing closer. Not enough to touch, but the murderous intent hones like a laser on his back.]
Don't act like you could ever understand...! No one does!
[The black sun that hangs in the air pulses]
No one knows what they did to me! No one cared I was already living through hell! Not Nee-san, not you--!
[(Who is he? Who is she screaming at? She can't remember. She doesn't care--)]
Did you even notice I was gone? That I ran away?
[(What--)]
I-- I'm already empty, so what does it matter?! So long as I'm stronger than all of you, then at least... no one can criticize me!
no subject
oda supposes that it must have been around the time that he was at his worst. those days when he was unconscious in kei’s place after his suicide attempt...she must have run away then. but... he doesn’t think that he can reason with her at the moment.
but at the mention of her own emptiness, he smiles, sad. ]
How lucky of you. I’m empty too. I had my dreams and my children ripped away from me. And, in the end, I threw away my own life for the sake of revenge...just like you. So I won’t criticize you. And your sister shouldn’t either; it’s not her place.
[ he pauses, sighing deeply ]
I’m sorry, Sakura. I’m sorry I couldn’t be the person you could confide all this pain you’re holding in.
no subject
And it twists her stomach seeing this, frustration starting to rub her throat raw and makes her features flinch. She takes a step back, this time her arms coiled around her]
-- Don't.
[Don't you dare say these things. Sakura's grief isn't special if she's not the only one feeling it. Then she-- she doesn't have excuses for herself, does she? Then it's her fault, that she didn't notice that he was empty, too.]
I-- I don't want to hear this!
[He lost his kids--]
You're just trying to trick me. Is that it? ... Yes, it must be. Pretending you can understand, then I have no choice but to believe you...
[It's a child throwing stones at all the glass houses around her, suddenly. Even the shadows looming around Oda waver uncertainly.
And Rin -- she's completely vanished]
... I've done such terrible things. Or I'm going to. Then one day, you and everyone else will see...
no subject
[ even as the shadows waver and sakura lashes out, oda starts to make his way towards her, calmly. determined.
as long as he gets through sakura just a little, then it'll all be worth it. ]
I don't mind if you've done something terrible. After all, I was a killer, too, an assassin. So it's alright if your hands are red, because mine are too. I'll accept it all-- your hatred and sadness. Even if you think you're a monster, even if they all thought that, I don't think that.
[ he pauses, walking up to her. ]
All of this, it makes you more human than anybody else.
no subject
...]
I know what a terrible liar you are.
[Scrubbing at her cheeks. The girl grits her teeth and feels her bottom lip tremble as she stares to the ground, still hugging herself. The shadows... hover back]
What is it that you want?
[Apparently not to kill her, no matter what he's shown. The fool. Tears prick her eyelids too quickly for her to wipe away.]
What do you expect from me?
no subject
[ maybe he is a fool. no. he is definitely a fool. but, at this point, he wouldn't change it for anything...even if it meant sacrificing his own life.
with a gentleness that contrasts greatly with the evil and darkness of this place, he sets a gentle hand on her head, running his fingers through her hair. ]
I'll be here for as long as you need.
no subject
A part of her wants to reject it, even still, a last ditch effort to change the narrative to her liking, because she is as human as Oda says, and sometimes humans just want to wallow in their misery.
The rest of her... knows better by now.
After a beat, she wipes her face one last time, then takes a few steps to the side without looking at him. The base of the ominous pillar remains... but now, quite suddenly, there is a locked door.
Oda will feel a key being pressed into his hand -- one of the shadows, Sakura's last servant, before it simply fades away.]
... Well done, Odasaku-san.
You can go home now.
no subject
[ oda nods, fingers wrapping around the key tightly, as if it's one of his most prized possessions. it might be, actually.
he doesn't leave immediately, instead looking at sakura's form with a calm, but melancholic expression. part of him wants to reach out and pull her into a hug, but he doesn't have the strength to do that.
maybe when they see each other again, he'll try to be a little braver. ]
When we wake up...I'll take you out to eat cake, okay? Your favorite. We can talk then, if you want. And if you don't want to, then we won't.
[ with that said, he makes his way to the door, unlocking it. but before he pushes it open, he looks back. ]
I'll see you soon, Sakura. [ and then, he opens the door. ]
no subject
Sakura supposes she deserves it.
She also smiles, too, as sad and worn as it is, though she does not have the energy to offer it to him. So she will leave him with a soft goodbye as light from the open door floods the remains of her dreamscape:]
... Yes. I'll see you soon.
