[OPEN] I want to know, can you show me
WHO:"Sakura", "Shinji", "Akiren", "Futaba" & you!
WHERE: All throughout Recolle, but most definitely some of these people's houses at some point or another!
WHEN: First half of August!
WHAT: Body-swap catch-all!! Because apparently Xiaolang's soul can't stay put in it's own body for more than a day, gg there child
WARNINGS: None that I can think of? Aside from the Aggressive Shoujo Fluff that occurs whenever Sakura's involved, anyway
i) August 6-7 (Sakura)

[Something definitely wasn't right here, but in his half-asleep state, Xiaolang just couldn't tell what.
His rest had been pleasant enough, dreams happy and sweet, thanks to going to Rainbowland a day or so prior. But there were certain things that were stirring him into wakefulness-- there was the softer quality of the pillows, odd in comparison to the firm ones he owned, and the lack of two certain furry bodies in his bed, who he'd gotten accustomed to sleeping around. And then there was the bear in his arms, less fluffy than normal, feeling as if it was lacking something very important...
The growing ache in his temples is enough to bring him awake fully, and for a moment, he wonders if he's still dreaming. There couldn't be any other explanation to why he was suddenly in Sakura's room, laying in her bed, dressed in very different pajamas than he went to bed with. Unless...
It takes a second to fight past the disorientation before he tosses his legs over the mattress, darting to where she might have a mirror in her room. The realization is quick to set in as he observes the face staring back at him, very much familiar but definitely not his own.]
EEEEEHHHHH?!!
[If that yell alone-- loud enough to possibly rouse any of her brothers, if they weren't already awake-- wasn't enough to clue them in, the fact that "Sakura" was already up and dashing around this early in the morning would have cinched it. Hopefully none of them stopped him before he got out the door, because he really wasn't sure how to explain any of this. Especially since he didn't bother to change out of her pajamas before he left, either...
Once he finds some private space, he fishes out the key and cards he managed to smuggle out of the house, desperately trying to remember the incantation she used to activate it. Calling his apartment would be easiest, but he didn't want to break into her phone out of respect for her privacy. No, for now, he had to get there in person, and given his attire plus the distance of their houses, there was only one option.
After a few failed attempts, he finally manages to get Fly to activate... which then leaves the task of trying to navigate it. Easier said than done, as anyone looking up at just the right moment in Tisse, Viea Village, or parts of Birch Hills may hear a pajama-clad young girl shrieking as she's struggling to stay aloft on what appears to be a winged staff, seconds from pitching to the ground (Or possibly right on top of you??).]
W-WATCH OUT--!!
b)

[Once Xiaolang manages to track down Sakura (and subsequently, his body), and gets things in some sort of order, the next logical course of action is to go about things like normal... or as normal as they can get it, anyway. They both had their responsibilities, after all, ones that weren't about to take 'I accidentally swapped bodies with the person I'm dating' as an excuse.
So here Xiaolang was, manning the counter at The Confectionary, trying to fight the blush off his face as he shifts uncomfortably in his work uniform. The fact that this was Sakura wearing the cutesy dress and not actually him was a small comfort, but after his previous headaches with dresses the past few months, he really did not want to be stuck in one again. Still, he wasn't about to jeopardize Sakura's job with his hang-ups, and while he was still fairly awkward when dealing with strangers, he was going to power through!! For her sake!! So anyone stepping into the cupcake shop during the afternoon is going to be faced with a very determined, very serious looking "Sakura", putting all his energy into greeting the new customer.]
G-GOOD AFTERNOON!!
WH... WHAT CAN I GET YOU TODAY?
[VOLUME, CHILD--]
ii) August 8-9 (Shinji)

[After swapping back with Sakura on the 7th, Xiaolang had thought his ordeal with all of this was finally over.
Alas, it was only the beginning.
There was an odd sense of deja vu as he wakes up on the morning of the 8th-- different bed, lack of dogs, and this time a lack of bear, too-- but this time around, he's completely lost to where he is. With Sakura, at least he had been in her room before, so it wasn't nearly as jarring, but this... this was most definitely unsettling. Finding out who he wound up swapping with wasn't any better, either. He knew Shinji, but wasn't particularly close to him, so he had no idea what would constitute as normal for him and what wouldn't. It didn't help that his parents were NPCs, either-- he remembered the other boy mentioning at least that much, so there was no way for him to explain the situation to them.
No, he had to get out and either find his body, or get to Hong Kong House and let them know what was going on. But trying to run there had made him winded fairly quickly (was this what it was like to be old??), and he didn't know how to drive a normal car, so that clearly left him with the most responsible choice: The Shinji Tank.
And while controlling it was easier in some ways than Sakura's staff, there was still a learning curve behind it, causing him to accidentally ram it into whatever tree, bush, or other vehicle was in his way as he drives it through the streets of the city. But he was pointedly avoiding the damage for now, focusing instead on whoever he can grab the attention of, face set in a fierce mask as he shouts:]
Have you seen a fourteen year old Chinese boy around here?
[THAT'S REAL DESCRIPTIVE, XIAOLANG]
iii) August 13-14 (Akiren)
a)

[After enduring a less than pleasant swap with Mio on Friday and Saturday, he was absolutely relieved to have nothing strange happen to him on Sunday. Maybe it was finally, finally done with. After all, he already switched bodies three times this week, so there had to be a limit to this, right?
Ha ha. Yeah, nice try.
Maybe it was a small relief that he woke up in an actual bedroom and not a ward this time around, in a man's body no less, but it didn't make things any less confusing. He barely recognized the face that stared back at him when he checked in the mirror, only vaguely remembering him from a few conversations on the network. His name was... Ren? Probably? Everything around him was slightly out of focus, so he couldn't really tell.
He barely knew the sort of life Ren lead-- did he live with his parents, still? His friends? Were they NPCs, or actually Retrospec users? He wasn't sure if he wanted to stick around and find out, because it was going to be INCREDIBLY obvious to anyone there that he wasn't who he was supposed to be. Quietly, oh so quietly, he's going to sneak out of Ren's room, on the look-out for any landlines within the house so he could get a call in to Hong Kong House. Surely they had one?
But before he can get any further, a small, furry, black and white thing winds it's way between his legs, startling him so much he trips and smacks into the nearest wall, wrenching a small curse from his lips. There was NO WAY that wasn't going to come off as suspicious, not one bit. ]
b)

[Anyone who frequents Catmosphere, or at least works there during the week, might find something... off with "Ren"'s behavior during his shift. It could be the blank, almost panicked look he gives to regulars who expect him to remember their fancy coffee order, or the comically furrowed brow as he very carefully tries his hand at the cat-themed latte art (Spoilers: it's not all that great, but he's Trying). It could also be how absolutely lost he looks behind the counter, trying to pin-point all of the machines and ingredients needed to put these drinks together, spending way too long assembling them-- and still possibly messing it up in one way or another. Hope you don't mind your soy latte accidentally having dairy in it, or your coffee being a touch too sweet...!
On his break, he's just... going to be sitting at one of the furthest tables, forehead resting against his steepled fingers, looking quietly frazzled. Whoever said barista AUs were easy was a goddamn liar. Stranger still, though, is that whatever kitties are coming to visit him are going to be gently rebuffed, either nudging them carefully away or picking them up not-so-expertly and placing them a small distance from where he was sitting. Weird???]
iv) August 15-16 (Futaba)
a)

[It was too much to hope for at this point to wake up in his own bed after all this time, wasn't it? And yet, he still lets out a disappointed groan once he realizes, for the upteenth time these past two weeks, he's wound up in someplace completely unfamiliar to him. How many times was Retrospec going to DO this? Was it going to be like this the entire month? But he feels his stomach drop as he studies the body he's wound up this time around, hands attempting to tame the long, sleep-messy hair, realizing with startling clarity... this girl was a stranger. An absolute stranger. Obviously, she was a Retrospec user, if they wound up switching bodies, but-- nothing about her face was familiar, nor did anything in her room clue him in to who she could possibly be (though the tech set-up was something to be envied). How could he try to pass himself off as her when he didn't even know how she acted?
If the sounds in the house were any indication, though, whoever she lived with were early risers, and so trying to find a means to sneak out or use the house phone were out. Maybe it was best to bid his time for now, acting along with this... incredibly red-headed household, waiting for his window to escape. Someone her age probably helped make breakfast in the house, so... maybe that's what he should do first? To blend in?
So anyone in the Weesley household may walk in on "Futaba" at work in the kitchen, quietly cooking together some scrambled eggs and tomato while the bread toasts. It smells... really good, actually?? Who is this child-- but "she" does glance over "her" shoulder at whoever is there, nodding to one of the tables.]
Ah-- breakfast is going to be ready soon. Eggs are okay, right?
b)

[After somehow managing to get out of the Weesley abode, with the excuse of picking up some supplies for school (she... looked like she could be a grade or two above him, so it was a decent enough reason??), "Futaba" wanders about the neighborhood, trying to puzzle out where in Recolle this huge house may be. He hadn't changed out of her sleepwear, given how... awkward that would be (especially since he didn't even KNOW her), but her hair is carefully braided so stays mostly out of his face. Everyone else Xiaolang had swapped with had shorter hair, so it wasn't so bad to manage, but with hair this length...
The first person Xiaolang spots with a phone (or, at least, anyone with some familiarity of the area) is going to be approached carefully, tapping lightly on their arm to get their attention.]
U-Um... excuse me? [His cheeks flush a bit, embarrassed to have to resort to this, but as far as he knew, this girl didn't have any abilities to help him out on this front. At least, not that he knew...]
I went out for a walk earlier, but I got lost and forgot my phone. Would it be okay to borrow yours? So I can call my family and let them know where I am? It'll be fast, I promise!
[It's not entirely a lie-- he did need to call his family, and let them know somehow where he wound up, once AGAIN, but trying to explain that much to a total stranger might be a bit awkward.]
v) Wildcard

He sucks in a shakey breath as Li-Na lances into him, the adrenaline leaving him just a touch jittery, wondering what could be done next. Should he get the manager? Make her take note of this guy so he really wouldn't step into this store ever again? (He hopes so-- he would go sick with worry if Sakura had to deal with this jerk in person.)
He's so concerned about what to do next that he misses Al's comment about her older brother, too busy searching for a way to grab the attention of whoever was on shift to pay it any mind. But there's no way to ignore that 'final' request of his to his sister, and it hits a mark within him so much that he turns back to them, eyes hard.]
Are you kidding me?
[The voice that comes out of "Sakura" is quiet and dangerous, an odd juxtaposition to her sweet face and tiny stature, which makes it all the more unsettling. He stalks over as close as he can to the counter, to this dumbass of a boy, and if Xiaolang had been in his body proper, the glare he would have sent Al's way would be scathing. In other scenarios, he'd try to be understanding, or at least patient-- but this man tried to threaten him, in Sakura's body, no less, and any sympathy he had went out the window.]
You don't have any right to request that of my sister, and you certainly don't have the right to talk about things you clearly know nothing about. Now take her advice and go, before I do something that really will make management upset with me.
no subject
But before she can even comment on that, he makes a shocking request. Her mouth drops open, but no words come out. His mood is changing so rapidly she can barely keep up. Luckily, Xioalang recovers quicker than she does.
Before Al can leave though, she grabs his sleeve. Something's wrong. And as angry as he'd just made her, she can't shake the feeling that something is very, very wrong. Her tone is firm, not necessarily gentle, but not as harsh as it had been a minute ago.]
Go outside and sit at the bus stop until I am finished here. I mean it. Wait there.
no subject
It just suddenly came out, a side of him he hated. The side that reminded him of his father
There are tears going down his face, everything is spilling out. No no no...He is shaking uncontrollably...He hears gun shots. He covers his ears and heads to the exit in panic, when Li-Na pulls his sleeve. It pulls him back into reality, as he stares back and emotions clash and roar within him.
Fear, hate, anger, sadness, pain, panic. The emotions he tired to lock within himself are pouring out.]
Ok-okay...Pl-please...do-don't be long...
I-I don't know how much more I can take, everything is getting worse.
I'm sorry...soo...soo sorry.
I never wanted this to come out.
I'm sorry...sorry...sorry
[He mutters that as he heads to the exit, and he feels reality slowly dissolving around him]
no subject
But then Li-Na grabs the boy's arm and makes that request, causing Xiaolang to tense. He's half-afraid Al might lash out violently at her, given how his moods were cycling, so it was a relief when he complies with her wishes and leaves. His eyes follow him until he's positive he's outside of the store, when all of the nerves hit him at once. He maintains a calm enough face, but the hand in his pocket trembles uneasily, sending shivers up his arm, and he hopes his sister wouldn't be able to see it behind the counter. Though, speaking of Li-Na...]
Li-Na. [It's instinct to switch to Cantonese, falling back on his mother tongue for privacy and ease.] You're not seriously going out there to talk to him, are you? That guy isn't in his right mind. You saw him.
Should I go and call the cops?
no subject
I'll be careful. You can watch us through the window. If I need to, I'll boot him down the street.
[and if she has to resort to that, hopefully the NPCs won't notice, or she'll get the cops called on her]
But I think he needs help. Let me talk to him for a little bit. He... seems to respond well to me.
no subject
... okay. I'll keep an eye on things, but really... please be careful. I know you can take care of yourself, but...
['But please don't get hurt' is what he's trying to convey.]
no subject
I will be careful, I promise.
[And just to reassure him, and herself, she quickly glances around to make sure no one is watching, then silently activates her boots. To say Leon and Mio hadn't crossed her mind, would be a lie. But she also hadn't noticed that Al had a knife. Because if she had... she would absolutely not be thinking about talking with him.]
Now. I need two of the chocolate cupcakes, please.
no subject
Li-Na activating her boots does ease his worries some, though, knowing that she at least was going in prepared, and he swallows down his nerves the best he can. Giving her a short nod at her request, he eases his hand from underneath hers, grabbing a carrier box before opening the display. After placing a couple of choice looking chocolate cupcakes into the box, he hands it over toward her, though his face looks a little disapproving.]
Here. Make sure they get back home in one piece, okay?
[He hasn't connected the dots that one of them was for the miscreant outside, which was probably for the best. He'd probably give him one of the crappier cupcakes if he did.]
no subject
Well, I might eat them before they get that far...
[She places a bill on the counter, too much for the two cupcakes.]
Put the rest in the tip jar.
no subject
You're going to ruin your dinner if you do that, you know.
[It was a light chiding-- who was the elder sibling, again?-- but it's better than the constant anxiety from all of this, anyway. His eyes snap open at the sound of the bill hitting the counter, though, and he balks, realizing how much she was giving away in tip.]
L-LI-NA--! This is WAY too much! I can't accept this!
no subject
Technically you have to split it with your shift-mates, but there should still be enough of your share for you to take Sakura out for a treat once you're back in your own bodies.
[Stop looking the gift horse in the mouth, Xiaolang!]
