[OPEN] I want to know, can you show me
WHO:"Sakura", "Shinji", "Akiren", "Futaba" & you!
WHERE: All throughout Recolle, but most definitely some of these people's houses at some point or another!
WHEN: First half of August!
WHAT: Body-swap catch-all!! Because apparently Xiaolang's soul can't stay put in it's own body for more than a day, gg there child
WARNINGS: None that I can think of? Aside from the Aggressive Shoujo Fluff that occurs whenever Sakura's involved, anyway
i) August 6-7 (Sakura)

[Something definitely wasn't right here, but in his half-asleep state, Xiaolang just couldn't tell what.
His rest had been pleasant enough, dreams happy and sweet, thanks to going to Rainbowland a day or so prior. But there were certain things that were stirring him into wakefulness-- there was the softer quality of the pillows, odd in comparison to the firm ones he owned, and the lack of two certain furry bodies in his bed, who he'd gotten accustomed to sleeping around. And then there was the bear in his arms, less fluffy than normal, feeling as if it was lacking something very important...
The growing ache in his temples is enough to bring him awake fully, and for a moment, he wonders if he's still dreaming. There couldn't be any other explanation to why he was suddenly in Sakura's room, laying in her bed, dressed in very different pajamas than he went to bed with. Unless...
It takes a second to fight past the disorientation before he tosses his legs over the mattress, darting to where she might have a mirror in her room. The realization is quick to set in as he observes the face staring back at him, very much familiar but definitely not his own.]
EEEEEHHHHH?!!
[If that yell alone-- loud enough to possibly rouse any of her brothers, if they weren't already awake-- wasn't enough to clue them in, the fact that "Sakura" was already up and dashing around this early in the morning would have cinched it. Hopefully none of them stopped him before he got out the door, because he really wasn't sure how to explain any of this. Especially since he didn't bother to change out of her pajamas before he left, either...
Once he finds some private space, he fishes out the key and cards he managed to smuggle out of the house, desperately trying to remember the incantation she used to activate it. Calling his apartment would be easiest, but he didn't want to break into her phone out of respect for her privacy. No, for now, he had to get there in person, and given his attire plus the distance of their houses, there was only one option.
After a few failed attempts, he finally manages to get Fly to activate... which then leaves the task of trying to navigate it. Easier said than done, as anyone looking up at just the right moment in Tisse, Viea Village, or parts of Birch Hills may hear a pajama-clad young girl shrieking as she's struggling to stay aloft on what appears to be a winged staff, seconds from pitching to the ground (Or possibly right on top of you??).]
W-WATCH OUT--!!
b)

[Once Xiaolang manages to track down Sakura (and subsequently, his body), and gets things in some sort of order, the next logical course of action is to go about things like normal... or as normal as they can get it, anyway. They both had their responsibilities, after all, ones that weren't about to take 'I accidentally swapped bodies with the person I'm dating' as an excuse.
So here Xiaolang was, manning the counter at The Confectionary, trying to fight the blush off his face as he shifts uncomfortably in his work uniform. The fact that this was Sakura wearing the cutesy dress and not actually him was a small comfort, but after his previous headaches with dresses the past few months, he really did not want to be stuck in one again. Still, he wasn't about to jeopardize Sakura's job with his hang-ups, and while he was still fairly awkward when dealing with strangers, he was going to power through!! For her sake!! So anyone stepping into the cupcake shop during the afternoon is going to be faced with a very determined, very serious looking "Sakura", putting all his energy into greeting the new customer.]
G-GOOD AFTERNOON!!
WH... WHAT CAN I GET YOU TODAY?
[VOLUME, CHILD--]
ii) August 8-9 (Shinji)

[After swapping back with Sakura on the 7th, Xiaolang had thought his ordeal with all of this was finally over.
Alas, it was only the beginning.
There was an odd sense of deja vu as he wakes up on the morning of the 8th-- different bed, lack of dogs, and this time a lack of bear, too-- but this time around, he's completely lost to where he is. With Sakura, at least he had been in her room before, so it wasn't nearly as jarring, but this... this was most definitely unsettling. Finding out who he wound up swapping with wasn't any better, either. He knew Shinji, but wasn't particularly close to him, so he had no idea what would constitute as normal for him and what wouldn't. It didn't help that his parents were NPCs, either-- he remembered the other boy mentioning at least that much, so there was no way for him to explain the situation to them.
No, he had to get out and either find his body, or get to Hong Kong House and let them know what was going on. But trying to run there had made him winded fairly quickly (was this what it was like to be old??), and he didn't know how to drive a normal car, so that clearly left him with the most responsible choice: The Shinji Tank.
And while controlling it was easier in some ways than Sakura's staff, there was still a learning curve behind it, causing him to accidentally ram it into whatever tree, bush, or other vehicle was in his way as he drives it through the streets of the city. But he was pointedly avoiding the damage for now, focusing instead on whoever he can grab the attention of, face set in a fierce mask as he shouts:]
Have you seen a fourteen year old Chinese boy around here?
[THAT'S REAL DESCRIPTIVE, XIAOLANG]
iii) August 13-14 (Akiren)
a)

[After enduring a less than pleasant swap with Mio on Friday and Saturday, he was absolutely relieved to have nothing strange happen to him on Sunday. Maybe it was finally, finally done with. After all, he already switched bodies three times this week, so there had to be a limit to this, right?
Ha ha. Yeah, nice try.
Maybe it was a small relief that he woke up in an actual bedroom and not a ward this time around, in a man's body no less, but it didn't make things any less confusing. He barely recognized the face that stared back at him when he checked in the mirror, only vaguely remembering him from a few conversations on the network. His name was... Ren? Probably? Everything around him was slightly out of focus, so he couldn't really tell.
He barely knew the sort of life Ren lead-- did he live with his parents, still? His friends? Were they NPCs, or actually Retrospec users? He wasn't sure if he wanted to stick around and find out, because it was going to be INCREDIBLY obvious to anyone there that he wasn't who he was supposed to be. Quietly, oh so quietly, he's going to sneak out of Ren's room, on the look-out for any landlines within the house so he could get a call in to Hong Kong House. Surely they had one?
But before he can get any further, a small, furry, black and white thing winds it's way between his legs, startling him so much he trips and smacks into the nearest wall, wrenching a small curse from his lips. There was NO WAY that wasn't going to come off as suspicious, not one bit. ]
b)

[Anyone who frequents Catmosphere, or at least works there during the week, might find something... off with "Ren"'s behavior during his shift. It could be the blank, almost panicked look he gives to regulars who expect him to remember their fancy coffee order, or the comically furrowed brow as he very carefully tries his hand at the cat-themed latte art (Spoilers: it's not all that great, but he's Trying). It could also be how absolutely lost he looks behind the counter, trying to pin-point all of the machines and ingredients needed to put these drinks together, spending way too long assembling them-- and still possibly messing it up in one way or another. Hope you don't mind your soy latte accidentally having dairy in it, or your coffee being a touch too sweet...!
On his break, he's just... going to be sitting at one of the furthest tables, forehead resting against his steepled fingers, looking quietly frazzled. Whoever said barista AUs were easy was a goddamn liar. Stranger still, though, is that whatever kitties are coming to visit him are going to be gently rebuffed, either nudging them carefully away or picking them up not-so-expertly and placing them a small distance from where he was sitting. Weird???]
iv) August 15-16 (Futaba)
a)

[It was too much to hope for at this point to wake up in his own bed after all this time, wasn't it? And yet, he still lets out a disappointed groan once he realizes, for the upteenth time these past two weeks, he's wound up in someplace completely unfamiliar to him. How many times was Retrospec going to DO this? Was it going to be like this the entire month? But he feels his stomach drop as he studies the body he's wound up this time around, hands attempting to tame the long, sleep-messy hair, realizing with startling clarity... this girl was a stranger. An absolute stranger. Obviously, she was a Retrospec user, if they wound up switching bodies, but-- nothing about her face was familiar, nor did anything in her room clue him in to who she could possibly be (though the tech set-up was something to be envied). How could he try to pass himself off as her when he didn't even know how she acted?
If the sounds in the house were any indication, though, whoever she lived with were early risers, and so trying to find a means to sneak out or use the house phone were out. Maybe it was best to bid his time for now, acting along with this... incredibly red-headed household, waiting for his window to escape. Someone her age probably helped make breakfast in the house, so... maybe that's what he should do first? To blend in?
So anyone in the Weesley household may walk in on "Futaba" at work in the kitchen, quietly cooking together some scrambled eggs and tomato while the bread toasts. It smells... really good, actually?? Who is this child-- but "she" does glance over "her" shoulder at whoever is there, nodding to one of the tables.]
Ah-- breakfast is going to be ready soon. Eggs are okay, right?
b)

[After somehow managing to get out of the Weesley abode, with the excuse of picking up some supplies for school (she... looked like she could be a grade or two above him, so it was a decent enough reason??), "Futaba" wanders about the neighborhood, trying to puzzle out where in Recolle this huge house may be. He hadn't changed out of her sleepwear, given how... awkward that would be (especially since he didn't even KNOW her), but her hair is carefully braided so stays mostly out of his face. Everyone else Xiaolang had swapped with had shorter hair, so it wasn't so bad to manage, but with hair this length...
The first person Xiaolang spots with a phone (or, at least, anyone with some familiarity of the area) is going to be approached carefully, tapping lightly on their arm to get their attention.]
U-Um... excuse me? [His cheeks flush a bit, embarrassed to have to resort to this, but as far as he knew, this girl didn't have any abilities to help him out on this front. At least, not that he knew...]
I went out for a walk earlier, but I got lost and forgot my phone. Would it be okay to borrow yours? So I can call my family and let them know where I am? It'll be fast, I promise!
[It's not entirely a lie-- he did need to call his family, and let them know somehow where he wound up, once AGAIN, but trying to explain that much to a total stranger might be a bit awkward.]

[While Xiaolang's been running around looking for Shinji, Shinji's been running around looking for Xiaolang. It's weird that he hasn't gotten tired yet, but he's not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, especially because everything else about this situation sucks.
He hears the sound of a tank bumping into a parked car first, then his own voice shouting, and turns the corner to see the damage.
Inhales deeply.]
What the fuck are you doing with my tank?!
[I can't believe that other people are around here and are going to think Xiaolang has a potty mouth.]
no subject
.... not that Xiaolang is doing much better either, what with his... rampant property destruction with someone else's vehicle, but that was besides the point!! He only rammed into it lightly, anyway!
No. No he didn'tHe has to shout louder to make himself heard over the car alarms, scrambling over the top of the tank to make his way down.]
YOU WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE WHILE YOU'RE IN MY BODY!!
no subject
I'll watch my language when you watch where you're driving my tank!
[Is he going to have to go to court? Is he going to have to explain this to his parents??
It's hard to hear over the car alarms, but luckily Shinji is a master of yelling.]
no subject
For a normally quiet boy, though, Xiaolang is very good at projecting himself, his voice-- or Shinji's, even-- his voice more than enough to carry over the noise.]
It's not like I'm doing this on purpose!! Your tank is just stupid and hard to control--!
[But you know what else is hard to control? A body that's easily a foot taller than what you're used to!! And Xiaolang is learning that the hard way as one of his feet overshoots one of the footholds and he fumbles off of the tank, crashing to the ground. THANKFULLY HE WASN'T TOO HIGH UP, but gg child, nice job.]
no subject
Dumb kid... Hey, are you okay?
[Xiaolang may be a dumb kid, but Shinji is still obligated to check on him, if only to figure out if he's injured Shinji's body.
As he hurries over to Xiaolang's side, he shouts at the crowd-]
Hey, stop recording this! Sharing video of a minor getting injured is illegal, you know! What, do you work for snuff films companies?! I'll call the cops!
[He doesn't know if it's actually illegal, but getting yelled at by a child (who for some reason knows what snuff films are) and having the cops threatened gets most of the people who were recording to decide it isn't worth it.]

Which he does! Aside from playing with a real sword he found, but he doesn't dare bring it when he heads out. It's time to check up on his own body, but first he misses the soft comfort of cats, so he's here in Catsmophere Cafe as a customer for once.
And sees his body. ]
Looks like you had a rough day.
[ Calm and collected, he already got over his crisis when he switched bodies with Daisuke earlier. Don't mind that he slides onto the seat next to him as best as he can. He's not used to being this short.
no subject
Xiaolang-- or "Ren", rather-- is only a few minutes into his break, when a familiar voice gets him to peek up from his hands. Given that Ren was the fourth person he had to swap with since this whole nonsense started, he's not even fazed at spotting his own body at this point. Instead, he merely just grunts, awkwardly shifting over to give the other boy space and room to sit. Ren may have had trouble being this short, but getting a whole foot of height wasn't a walk in the park on his end, either.
The statement prompts a weary sigh, though, wondering if it was really THAT obvious.]
I'm... managing. Somehow.
I just didn't think there was this much involved when making coffee.
[Meanwhile, one of the kitties is quietly padding over to them, the strong scent of dogs on "Xiaolang"'s body enough to make it cautious, but curious enough of these two humans all the same.]
no subject
[ Must keep small boy safe. No one wants to face off Chinese gangsters, even if he already harasses Leon enough. Ren leans more towards black coffee since that's how you can really taste the acidity and depth of the brew, but he does enjoy other blends with a sweet kick. Rather sympathetic, he scratches his cheek as he sighs, wondering what he can do to help him out. Xiaolang probably wouldn't appreciate tips on how to concoct delicious drinks during this whole mess.
When one of the cats approach, he perks up, obviously recognizing this one since he works here. He knows he can't just reach out and pet them, so he offers a hand and test the waters like this is their first time. Don't worry, kitty. He is but a mancub. ]
Why did you end up coming, anyway? You could have told my manager that you weren't feeling well.
no subject
[Xiaolang, surprisingly, also drank coffee from time to time, on the rare occasions where the caffeine in milk tea wouldn't cut it. It helped having a sister who was a barista, after all! He probably wouldn't mind it for future reference (that way Li-Na wouldn't have to be the only one making coffee in the house), but for right now? Yeah, he probably wanted to focus on something other than brewers or steamers or how much milk was needed to make a decent cappurrcino.
He straightens up just a little at that question, however, a scowl cutting across his face.]
I'm here, though, because I didn't want to shirk any of your responsibilities. If this goes on for more than a day, I don't want you getting in trouble for staying home too much. Although...
[He gaze shifts to the manager, who was eyeing him from across the cafe with some obvious Concern, and it's a struggle to keep the look of chagrin off of his face.]
... at this point, maybe that's not such a bad idea.
[The kitty, in the meanwhile, carefully approaches "Xiaolang", giving a cursory look at "Ren" (who was pointedly avoiding it for now... sorry, hairy baby), before sniffing experimentally at the younger boy's hand. After deeming him Worthy, the cat softly bumps it's head against his hand, chirping out a small meow.]
no subject
Then
it isn't his fault and he should be absolved of all consequences. Humming, he pets the kitty like he usually does. Who's a good cat? You are. ]
Take the day off tomorrow, but today I can help out. Just tell the manager that I'm your little brother for this big brother little brother event or something.
[ After petting the kitty, he tries to be cutesy while he's in this body. He props his head on both of his hands, resting his elbows on the table as he looks at Xiaolang with big eyes. ]
Of course I can only do so much with small hands.

OOOUCHHH!
[He takes a few extra moments to look at "her" and recognizes her as the girl he was texting in the app. He rubs his ears and looks at her, a friendly enough smile is on his face given the greeting]
Oh, hey there! How have you been? Finally get to meet ya in person.
Please tell me you don't make all of your customer's ears bleed the second they come in.
Unless that's the secret ingredient in the icing or something.
[Said dripping with a joking sarcasm]

But he recognizes the boy just as Al seems to recognize him-- or rather, Sakura-- right back, and he can't help but swallow down his nervousness. Just how many people did she know?
He was about to offer a greeting back, albeit a nervous one, when Al's comment about his volume gets "her" face to flush in mortified frustration.]
I--I DON'T--!!

He is trying to be polite to the cute girl before him, after all, she might be able to see the future and change fate one day.
Besides, it might have been her first day on the job. He instinctively covers his ears again and cautiously puts them down, then smiles when she lowers her voice. ]
A BIT of energy? Is this your first day?
no subject
I... It is. [It's not technically a lie, as it WAS Xiaolang's first time working here and all, so--] I don't see why that matters, though...

Wooow, hey if it's your first day, it's okay.
We all start from somewhere, not that I can talk I still haven't gotten a job yet.
You'll get better with time...and soon enough, either you will get enough blood to make a vampire jealous, or be sweet enough to get customers pouring in.
The cute uniform helps.
[He blushes harder saying that, even though he is saying that to make her feel better, she was objectively cute]

Frowning he grabs his wand and Nimbus 2001 and walks out onto the balcony. He gently prods Bronte away. The owl cracks open an eye and hoots.]
Can you go find Sakura please?
[Bronte hoots again and then takes off into the city. He returns about five minutes later, urging Derek to follow him.]
You find her?
[Derek mounts his broom and takes off, following Bronte. It's not long before Derek sees Sakura on her staff flying around. Before he could really call out to her to get her attention, he watches as she starts plummeting towards the ground. Derek's heart drops to his stomach.]
SAKURA!
[Derek practically dive bombs towards Sakura, reaching out to grab onto her some how. His hand wraps around the back of the staff and he pulls up on his broomstick to attempt to slow her down. As he does this, his chest come crashing down on the handle as he tries to hold on. His shoulder is going to hurt after this. He hopes he has saved her in time.]
SAKURA!

Was it possible that her card could instinctively tell he wasn't their actual owner? Possibly. If his memories were anything to go by, he was, by birthright, more than qualified to wield them, but it sure didn't seem that way with how he was using it. It was a struggle trying to keep upright as the wings flapped and fluttered erratically, and a sharp shriek wrenches it's way out of his mouth as he feels gravity viciously trying to reign him in. Maybe, if he was fast enough, he could summon her Windy card to cushion the fall, but it felt unlikely--
Suddenly, an abrupt motion is tugging him backwards, and his head whips around for just the briefest of moments to see--]
DEREK?!
[Not 'onii-chan', but 'Derek', which was probably another HUGE clue that something was off here. But before he could question it further, his center of balance shifts, and he's suddenly tipping off the side of rod, flailing for purchase with a loud scream. Somehow, he latches onto it, but not before hanging from the bottom of it like some Sakura-shaped koala.]

BRONTE!
[Bronte comes swooping in and his claws reach and grab onto the back of Sakura's pajama shirt. He pulls up a bit, hopefully giving Sakura a bit of help to reach up and grab the staff.
Derek continues to hold onto the staff as he slowly lowers them toward the ground. Derek is frantically calling out to his "sister."]
HOLD ON JUST A BIT LONGER! I GOT YOU!

I'M FINE!! JUST DON'T MAKE ANY OTHER SUDDEN MOVES BEFORE WE GET ON THE GROUND!

[Slowly he lowers "Sakura" to the ground and he finally lets go. He is finally catching his breath, sitting back on his Nimbus 2001 that is hovering a few feet above the ground. Derek swears he only closes his eyes for a second while catching his breath when he feels a weight on the front of his broom handle. His eyes fly open and he's face to face with Bronte, who looks tired and slightly annoyed. It's as if he was trying to say, "Can I PLEASE go to bed now?" Derek reaches up and pats Bronte's head.]
Thanks mate, you can go home now. Gets some rest.
[Bronte hoots in appreciation and flies away. Derek looks over at "Sakura" and dismounts his broom. He takes the few steps that separates them and he envelopes her into a tight hug.]
You had me worried! What happened? You left with out saying good-bye, you lost control of your magic...
[He finally notices what she is wearing.]
You didn't change your clothes?
[Derek pulls back a bit.]
Sakura, are you OK? You know you can tell me anything right?

Everything okay in there?

I-It's fine. I just tripped over something on the floor, so you don't have to--
[But before he can finish, a small yelp escapes him as the furry body twines around his legs again, causing him to start. He glances down again, only to see--
... a cat. This jerk had a cat.
This bodyswap already sucks, please save him.]

Also the other behaviors and way of speaking seemed off, so being someone who just finished going through this himself-]
Body switch?

But you can see his body practically slump in relief the moment Elliot says those words, the tension of keeping this charade up blissfully cut. He doesn't know you at all, good sir, but you are an angel and a saint.]
... yeah.
Was it that obvious?
no subject
J-Just a little, but it was the look you gave Morrigan that gave it away. That's his cat.
