[Are you in Chata today? Are you outside of the grocery store today? John's hanging around, leaning against the side of the building with a clipboard in his hand. Starting a petition is…not quite what he has in mind, but he can bend it a little and maybe it'd count. Should anyone get close enough, he'll approach and grin a little, clipboard gripped firmly as he waves.]

Can I borrow a few minutes of your time?

[Frankly, he's also a little bored and it's why he decides to commandeer a stall at the Farmer's Market today. The market's been quiet given the lack of people around, but today John's selling what appears to be…a bunch of baked goods. Tarts, cookies, pastries (no cupcakes, weirdly) and some candied apples.

For anyone passing by, he'll lean forward a little, nudging the tray toward you.]

[John can also be found walking from the parking lot of the hospital, carrying a couple of large boxes from his car toward the front door. There appears to be a handful of art supplies hanging out of the boxes, but as he passes by he'll commentate.]

[On another day, John's just kind of wandering. It's what he does. Without the impending threat of school, or, like, the end of the universe, he finds himself just kind of easing his way into summer. It's been a few weeks and he's just now starting to take those tasks seriously.

On the other hand, it's nice that his schedule is a little less hectic and he has more time to go outside and explore, see who he runs into in this city of theirs. It's how he comes across another familiar face seated at a table. Yusuke's more a friend of Dave's than John's, but he likes the guy well enough and he approaches with what appears to be a slice of pizza and a salad he's procured from somewhere.]

This seat taken?

[ So, someone here forgot to eat breakfast. Before, that was an easy thing to dismiss, but now? Now he gets mental images of sad roommates and a disapproving boyfriend so is trying his best to remember to eat.

When John sits down, he's midway through a sandwich and it takes a moment to chew and swallow his food. It's probably a graceful and beautiful image, let's be honest. ]

-- Hello, John. [ Hold up, he's gonna be polite. Put the sandwich down and everything. ] How are you?

[At least someone's guilting Yusuke into taking care of himself. John doesn't mind the wait and realizes he probably shouldn't have rudely interrupted him, but here we are. He's seated and his lunch is in front of him and he waves.]

Better than last month, I can at least admit that. But I think the best answer is "decent." Same question at you, dude. It's been a while.

I am dealing with things as they are thrown at me, I suppose. Day by day. I have been [ forced ] able to rest more this month at least, now all my classes are finished.

It has been a long time, yes. You have been doing well in the long term?

[#ProtectYusuke2k18. John nods in understanding though because...well. That's what a lot of them are doing. Dealing with things as they're thrown at them.]

In the long term, I think it's just...there are some things that could be better and some things that could be worse. People come and people go and we're still no closer to solving what's happening to any of us. But we're alive and that's good enough for me.

[...] Plus you can never go wrong with summer break. [A grin.] I've been sort of working on that huge task list Zee gave all of us.

We are. Being alive is important - you can't change things when you're dead. [ Thanks, Yusuke.] Appreciating that, and living the best you can is important, as well as experiencing the good and the bad that comes with it.

... And yes, the break is nice too. [ Sparkle Sparkle. ] I have been working on a few of the art based ones, and indulging myself. Have you managed to do many of them?

You could say that again. [Glad Yusuke sounds like a poetry book as usual. There's nothing untrue in the statement though, he realizes that, and so he finally looks at his food in thought.]

Why am I not surprised you're doing the art ones? [A teasing grin.] I've managed to do a couple while working on my own projects, but I have a plan to go swimming with sharks later. Right now I'm working on the next one on my list.

I have no shame in indulging my art. [ He's smiling so... ya. ] Oh? And which is that? Non-shark related, hopefully.

No way, one shark-related activity is enough for me. [But there's a devious...little...grin...]

Yusuke, let me ask you something. Do you think there can be art in just about anything?

[ UM. ]

For the most part? Yes. Art can be found in many different places.

Even in food, you think? [He's slooowly picking up his slide of pizza.]

Well... yes. There is an entire segment of food and food culture devoted to the art of it. From both the perspective of the chef and how they lay the food out on the plate, or the combination of colours and flavours, to people who photograph the finished product. Whether professionally or for personal joy, so to speak--

Yusuke's left peeling the slice off pizza off of his face, toppings and all and staring at it as though it betrayed him. Deeply.

And then, wordlessly, he flings it back in John's face. Along with the remnants of his own lunch. Double whammy. ]

[RUDE?? The pizza minus some of its toppings hits him like a cold, tomato-y slap to the face and he sputters against it like he doesn't absolutely deserve this.]

Where does the revenge part fit in here? [He's also going to reach for a cup of soda sitting on the side, casually peeling off the lid.

I'm not sure it should be revenge against me when I am just following orders from Retrospec. [It should maybe be revenge on John though seeing how the cup's lifted and soda is thrown at poor Yusuke's face.] Would you really hold that against me?
