[open] no one's too old for bingo
WHO: Sorey and anyone!
WHERE: All over Recollé
WHEN: After June 3rd
WHAT: Sorey's trying to restore the city and not think about how he's lost everything precious to him, even temporarily. Also, not really bingo. Feel free to join the party! The list is just to give some ideas/variety.
WARNINGS: The sads, Sorey being a big whiny baby... oh, nothing serious.
[RECOLLE; GENERAL]
[Being the coalition's unofficial ghostbuster has its benefits and... disadvantages. When he sees the suggestion of talking to the dead, he knows he needs to be present to make sure something stupid doesn't happen. He hasn't forgotten about that time Dante crashed the ghost hunting expedition and brought out a real ghost. The last thing they need is some half-invisible spirit calling down the afterlife on them because they got screamed at.
But there's plenty of other things for Sorey to do, too.
One might find him hanging around the Towers with a piece of paper and all these tasks written down. In Apprassage, he's set up a table in a nice area near the sidewalk with another chair and a big ol' sign. FINALS HELP FOR FREE - STUDENT TEACHER'S ADVICE. In Tisse, he's eyeing all the food, but especially the burger place... He hasn't done the challenge yet (because Mikleo has standards), but without much ability to cook for himself, this is essentially his best chance to get a lot of food in a short amount of time. But really he's just curious. A lot of those places have substandard food, yet the food here's always been pretty decent. It's worth a shot, anyway.
He's here and there, trying to keep himself busy. That's the only way to escape the darker thoughts that come for him in the silence.]
[AT HOME]
[With finals over and school on its way out, he's simply awaiting his judgment. Will he secure the alternative teaching license or not? The anxiety of that pales in comparison to all the other revelations over the weekend, not to mention suddenly being bereft of his husband. Mikleo can't hear or see him, and Sorey can't see Mikleo either, but he can hear perfectly. The first time he hears Mikleo's voice he gets excited enough that he tries to tackle him, but Mikleo keeps moving through the kitchen, oblivious, and Sorey ends up face-first into the floor. It's not a good start to his week, that's for sure.
No matter how he tries to follow voices nothing works. Mikleo and his mom and his mother in law are all oblivious. For the first time in his life, Sorey knows what it's like to be alone. He tries to make the best of it. He still has to live here. Not being able to touch his husband makes his heart ache, but he tries to be strong. When it gets bad, he just sits there on the couch and closes his eyes, listening to the sound of his roommate's breathing or bustling in the kitchen, and he grounds himself in the knowledge that his loved ones are (mostly) safe.]
[CLUB SUNSHINE]
[Throwing himself so hard into everything also means he's... not doing too well at work. Granted, there's not much he can do with everything haphazardly painted and of course being unable to interact with normal townsfolk. But he wants to help restore this district like Zee said, so that means hanging around at times with his list of ideas from Zee. Who knows-- maybe he'll find someone of a like mind.]
((OOC: No previous plotting required if you want to drop something on here. Just make sure to note somewhere in the title what prompt this is for so I have an idea. The list linked above is just for ideas and is by no means the only stuff I'll thread. For more plotting, you can find me on plurk @

closed; talk to the dead
In the end, he just shoots Noah a text.]
I'm going to try talking to the ghosts again. It's supposed to help restore the city, but maybe they have info.
I'll be at the graveyard if you want to come.
no subject
now?
on my way
[there's no way he was going to pass this up. Not if they could get some answers from the souls. Especially if it meant returning things to normal]
no subject
[He shouldn't be surprised that Noah's on this so quickly. He's appreciative, at least, but conscious of putting too much of a burden on Noah's shoulders too. This, at least, they can go through together. And maybe one day, when Noah comes into his own and is more sure of himself, Sorey won't need to guide him at all.
When Noah gets there, Sorey's peering through the gate in an attempt to spot anything terribly obvious from the entrance. Of course there's nothing. He greets Noah with a wave and a smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes.]
Hey! Thanks for coming.
[He has his sword, but it's more for whatever might be lurking around the graveyard than what's inside it.]
no subject
Sure.
[He nods towards the graveyard gate]
Think the ghosts will still be in there?
no subject
I think so. Some of the others mentioned that the ghosts were still in the woods, so I bet they're still in the graveyard too. I don't usually talk to these ones, though... Last time we all ended up unconscious with a shovel next to us, so I decided not to bother them again.
[He gently pushes the gate open the rest of the way, and it squeaks horribly.]
Hello? Anyone here?
no subject
Yeah, I remember the last trip to the graveyard. Here's hoping there's no repeat.
[Since, that sure sucked. But he'll follow along, watching out for any ghosts and Sorey's reaction. Sorey can see these things better than he can, so his reactions would be the most telling]
no subject
Excuse me, we'd like to ask some questions-- but only if you're up to it. We won't hurt you or anything, we just want to talk.
[He holds his hands out and closes his eyes. He doesn't really need to do the latter, but it helps calm him down if he breathes in and out for a minute. Plus, it also gives the ghosts some time to drift out of hiding. A few are already visible in the peripheral.]
Can you tell us anything about how you went? Or... the families you came from? I'm worried that something might have happened before... something that hurt a lot of people. I want to protect people so that it doesn't happen again.
no subject
[He doesn't want Sorey to die out here okay!! But he's still hanging out behind Sorey, just to be safe. Let Sorey do the talking and control the situation.
The ghosts this time at least, seem to be less aggressive. They even have humanish forms to their ghostly bodies. They start moving closer to Sorey, curious as to who is asking and what he's asking.
Their families? They seem to ask, why would he want to know about that?]
Sunshine
So here he is, spotting a familiar figure going in, and he jogs to see wht's up. ]
Hey. [ He's not going to ask if Sorey is okay. He knows he wouldn't be in the same universe as okay, in his situation. But... ] Checking in on the place?
no subject
Hey. [He glances at the bit of notebook paper he's been scrawling down tasks in.] Yeah, something like that. Even if we can't see them, I still gotta make sure they're okay...
I figured if anyone else was up to it, we could check a few things off Zee's list too. [He needs to stay busy, needs to be helpful.]
no subject
Yeah. We'll get them back, Sorey.
[ He isn't in this situation right now - not with his significant other, and not, exactly, with another close friend who used to be on the app - but he can imagine it pretty vividly. ]
Going through some things on Zee's list is what I've been doing, too, so if you want a hand in whatever you have in mind, I don't have anything planned, right now.
general
Did it all really have to do with her fear of the supernatural and superstition? She always knew to never toy with those forces. The principals of aikido, even, acknowledges the existence of demons and spirits, and their influence on the world. Ava couldn't help feel anxious the more she thought about it. All the more reason for her to wear her headphones to block out all the sounds while exploring her new surroundings.
It was those very walks that she'll notice one of her classmates from the university doing the assigned tasks; however due to her uneasiness she avoided him and anyone else until her hunger got the better of her. She couldn't avoid him or anyone forever, not with one of the tasks being about food. With a weak smile, Ava will head on over to the boy in question, giving him a small wave.]
Yo! Seems like we've been crossing paths a lot today. It's been a while!
no subject
Ava!
[He's gearing himself up for the burger challenge, but he's not sure he wants to try it right now. There's a boba place nearby and he wants to get at least one task done before he hits somewhere up for lunch.]
Welcome to the craziness. Looking to help with Zee's chores?
no subject
I rather not, but I don't think I have any other choice over the matter. Ignoring everything is a pretty boring and lame option to take.
[Plus, it'll be difficult for her to live a normal life when almost everyone around her was already invisible. The atmosphere felt unnerving enough, as it is, and she didn't want to lose her nerves so easily.]
I saw you were offering to do some of the chores earlier in other areas. Is there anything you have in mind to do? I think it'll be more fun to do this with a partner than all lonesome like, right? [And it'll be safer, but she won't be voicing that out loud.]
Sunshine
After he finishes up his checks, he joins Sorey in the front.]
...It doesn't feel right without Majima.
[More than the sloppy paint job and the lack of customers, that's what's wrong with Club Sunshine.]
no subject
Yeah, you're right. This place is basically an extension of him. [And he's the second guy Sorey's worked for to suddenly stop remembering the app, too.] We remember what it's supposed to be like, though. We'll make sure it keeps running like it should be.
[He swallows.]
Though... I dunno if you've heard, but there's a big possibility I won't be working here after the school year starts.
no subject
[Though he can't exactly fill the role of a host like Sorey can.]
Good luck with your studies.
no subject
[Maybe he can't be a host in his eyes, but Sorey thinks that anything is possible with time and dedication.]
I'm actually-- I applied for a position as a permanent teacher at the high school. It's a special license, so I'll need to go back to college eventually, but... for now, that's gonna take up all my time.
I'll know for sure at the end of the month.
no subject
I guess that's one thing being a host and being a teacher have in common.
[Though they don't seem like similar career paths.]
At home
Knock knock.
[he calls out after ringing the doorbell.]
no subject
Mr. Coulson?
[... Still hasn't broken that habit. But seeing his teacher and mentor seems to wake him up a bit... right into a fit of mild panic.]
Hey, nice to see you! Wait, did I miss school? Ah, what day is it--
no subject
[Teasing, but still.]
Can I come in?
no subject
[He's a little disoriented still, but the brownies are a way to bring him back to life in a way. He realizes he's being awful rude and immediately steps aside to let Coulson in.]
Y-yeah, yeah, of course! Let me put those in the kitchen. And have a seat! Do you want something to drink? We've got juice and soda if water's not your thing. [Wait, what time is it?] I can make coffee or tea, too, if it's not too late for that.
[Time to gently take those brownies and figure out where he can put them. Maybe the top of the stove is fine for now.
There's a loveseat and a recliner to sit on, unless he wants to contend with the pillows on the couch.]
Sunshine
But at least he can do something for the staff. So when Sorey comes near, he'll pluck a few keys and glance at Sorey]
Any song requests?
no subject
Huh? Oh, um... [Wow, way to put him on the spot there.] Maybe some Sara Bareilles?
[Plus she wrote for a musical, so there's probably something he'll know in there.]
no subject
[It only take him a moment to recall, but he'll pull out his tablet and pull up the sheet music. Shortly after, he'll start playing this on his piano]
no subject
[Sorey recognizes this tune! He perks up visibly as Elliot begins to play, and even hums along a bit. When he's finished, Sorey flashes him a big grin and a thumbs up.]
Dude, that was awesome! I mean, your playing is always awesome, but that was really special.
[He leans against the counter and fidgets with his wedding ring.]
It's weird, huh? Having everything feel so empty and yet... life goes on even when we can't see it.
no subject
[Sorey's always so good about the praise, what a nice guy. And he'll nod to that]
Yeah...it's almost like one of those video games. You know, where they have a whole functioning city, but the engine couldn't handle many NPCs so it's empty everywhere.
at home
Sorey? You in there?
no subject
Zaveid?
[And yet, that's all it takes. He perks up immediately and offers a big grin.]
Hey! I didn't know you were stopping by. Come in! Oh, and sorry about the mess.
[It's actually pretty spotless aside from the pillows and blankets on the couch, and all the empty cans and empty takeout containers lined up on one side of the coffee table. He's been here a while... The loveseat and recliner are free, though.]
Can I get you something to drink? We've got juice and soda.
[He has a cat somewhere. As soon as the door closes, Branwen will be out to investigate and aggressively rub all over everything in sight.]
no subject
I thought I'd make it a surprise!
[Because this was the sort of thing that would have made for an awkward phone conversation, after all. Especially since this is Zaveid's attempt at a wellness check.]
Ah, just water is fine. I'm not too picky of a guy.
[At the cat showing up, he coos in delight.]
Hey there, kitty! Who's a good kitty?
no subject
Have a seat, I'll be right back.
[He bounces into the kitchen for a minute to grab two cold water bottles. He offers one to Zaveid and takes the other for himself.]
I see Branwen likes you. I'm not surprised, though. She likes everybody... unless I'm trying to steal Mikleo's attention, anyway.
[Cat has serious yandere tendencies.]
no subject
She must smell my cats.
[Cats know who to go to for attention, after all.]
Cats are good at that, I've noticed. They'll go right for the people who'll pet them.
no subject
[He pops open his own water bottle and takes a drink, gathering his thoughts.]
Oh, um... Mikleo's gone right now. Not that... we could talk to him anyway...
[And here it is-- the biggest sigh known to man. He tries to smile afterward like it's no big deal though.]
How are things with you?
no subject
Yeah... I know. That's what I decided to show up unannounced. I wanted to check up on you.
[Because he knows that sort of smile, the one where you're trying to put on a brave face but are screaming inside.]
I guess I don't have a lot to complain about right now.
Museum Tour!
How about a tour? I'd love to see how much you know.
[Here's your chance to show her your skills Sorey! Not that it's a test or anything, she's just very proud of him.]
no subject
Pop quiz, huh...
[Still, he's not one to balk at a challenge.]
All right. I'll try not to disappoint! Why don't we go through the Egypt exhibit first? Unless you'd rather something else?
no subject
You always passed them, on any topic I picked.
[Another reason why Sorey was a joy to have in her class.]
That will be fine, lead the way.
