Engagement party time!

WHO: Jirou and Kenta and their closest friends/the dates of the friends
WHERE: Jirou and Kenta's place...sort of. It's the apartment right next door.
WHEN: Forward-dated to April 15th evening
WHAT: It's their engagement party! So time for them to throw a party to celebrate.
WARNINGS: Alcohol consumption? Drunk shenanigans? I mean this is a Jirou thrown party.

[Jirou has made sure the invitations have gone out to all their closest friends. He's even asked Kenta who he felt closest to who isn't himself and Fai to make sure he isn't just inviting his own friends. Even if he is sure that Kenta would be just as happy with that too. But this is something for the both of them so it's important that they represented that.

So Jirou has decorated the apartment right next to their own to look like a classy Japanese household and there were various sake bottles around. Why? Because this party is a sake tasting party! There's even yummy looking snacks around! Next to each snack and bottle is a little description of what it is and where it comes from. Jirou has so much sake that it only makes sense that he'd have a wide variety!

Don't worry, there are yummy juices to try for those who can't drink. The only rules is that you have to at least be 21 to try the alcohol!

And on the balcony one will find a karaoke setup! That's right you can drink your heart out and then go sing your heart out! Jirou's got the best equipment and tracks for a huge variety of songs. You're sure to find your favorite there!

So have fun! And bring a date! The dress code is semi-formal but you don't have to worry about sticking so strongly to that this time. Jirou will let it slide this once if you're not perfect.]

So, which half of the lucky couple do you know? Kenta or Jirou... or both? I suppose that's an option considering that's how it is for me.

In a way I know both. Though honestly the one I'm friends with is Kenta. Jirou has been kind to me though when I had to stay at the apartment they live in next door though.

[He laughs a bit then pauses.]

Have I spoken with you before? You look like someone on the app.

So Biffy, what do you do when you're not attending engagement parties and discussing the wonders of tea with strangers?

I'm a music student at the University actually. Presently I am majoring in music performance with piano as my specialty.

[Look how his face lights up talking about that.]

Oh really? Piano? How long have you been playing?

[dandyofawolf]

Since I was old enough to sit at one honestly. My parents introduced me when I was very little and I fell in love with it.

So you want to make a profession of it then? Would you want to teach it or perform?

[dandyofawolf]

Performance. I don't plan on obtaining a teaching credential.

[He has no problem with teachers. It's more that he doesn't want that life for himself.]

Performance eh? So how many hours do you practice a day? I mean, you must have some impressive calluses on your fingers.

[dandyofawolf]

[He will pointedly NOT talk about any calluses he may or may not have, Derek. Because just no. Excuse you. He prides himself in his appearance too much to even suggest he might have calluses.]

Several hours since I was little. I can hardly help myself really. Fortunately my professor lets me play after classes since I do not have a piano for myself.

So, I gotta know your opinion on something. Do you prefer an actual piano or do you like the electric keyboards? Will you play on a keyboard or are you a piano snob and only play a baby grand or bigger?

I prefer the sound of the piano but I will not say no to a keyboard. It's simply that it lacks a lot of the sound quality that a real piano has. So when I have a choice I play a real piano.

So how many more years do you have until you graduate?

[dandyofawolf]

Honestly it depends on how far I want to go. I haven't decided yet if I want to go further to get a higher degree or not...

[And with everything happening due to the app it's been even harder to think about.]

What degree is beyond a undergrad in piano performance? Is there grad school for piano performance?

[dandyofawolf]

Music performance.

[He's gentle in his correction but he still corrects.]

And yes. You can get a Masters or a Doctorate in it if you desire.

Huh, I didn't know you could get a Doctorate in that. Would you need one to become a great pianist?

I honestly do not mean anything by this but I think we can use a number of popular names to answer that question. With that said, it would not harm one to have such a degree.

This is true. I guess I'm just glad to be done with school and not having to worry about it. Though I did double major, so that may be why. I pretty much didn't sleep for four years.

I'm not sure there's anything else I'd want to major in really. This is really what I'd like to do with the rest of my life.
