Engagement party time!

WHO: Jirou and Kenta and their closest friends/the dates of the friends
WHERE: Jirou and Kenta's place...sort of. It's the apartment right next door.
WHEN: Forward-dated to April 15th evening
WHAT: It's their engagement party! So time for them to throw a party to celebrate.
WARNINGS: Alcohol consumption? Drunk shenanigans? I mean this is a Jirou thrown party.

[Jirou has made sure the invitations have gone out to all their closest friends. He's even asked Kenta who he felt closest to who isn't himself and Fai to make sure he isn't just inviting his own friends. Even if he is sure that Kenta would be just as happy with that too. But this is something for the both of them so it's important that they represented that.

So Jirou has decorated the apartment right next to their own to look like a classy Japanese household and there were various sake bottles around. Why? Because this party is a sake tasting party! There's even yummy looking snacks around! Next to each snack and bottle is a little description of what it is and where it comes from. Jirou has so much sake that it only makes sense that he'd have a wide variety!

Don't worry, there are yummy juices to try for those who can't drink. The only rules is that you have to at least be 21 to try the alcohol!

And on the balcony one will find a karaoke setup! That's right you can drink your heart out and then go sing your heart out! Jirou's got the best equipment and tracks for a huge variety of songs. You're sure to find your favorite there!

So have fun! And bring a date! The dress code is semi-formal but you don't have to worry about sticking so strongly to that this time. Jirou will let it slide this once if you're not perfect.]

[He's pleasantly surprised to have gotten the invitation to come to this party but of course he's going to come and celebrate Kenta's engagement. Besides, he does so love any excuse to dress up even a little bit. Semi-formal totally qualifies for that.

His date to this party is Orion but he's not always around his boyfriend. After all he has to go around socializing. So you can totally find him trying one of the various sake or even helping himself to one of the snacks. And you can definitely be sure that he's there to have pleasant conversation with those around him.

So don't be surprised if a charming and handsome young man comes up to say hello to you.]

[Orion heads over to Biffy at some point. The obligation to socialize becoming overwhelming, he'd rather stick with the familiar and safe, where he knows he's not being judged.

He sips on a juice drink, careful to avoid any alcohol (and considering the amount of sake lying around, he's extra careful not to drink any accidentally. He tries to settle in comfortably.]

[It's something, at least. He's glad that Biffy is having a good time.]

[Now of course you know that Jirou is there and enjoying the hell out of himself. He has on a lovely purple dress with his makeup and hair done up just right. By the time you get to him he's already had a number of tastes of sake. Likely before this party even started this evening. But here he is with a smile on his lips.

When he's not with Kenta, he's usually found (not surprisingly) tasting sake. After all that's why he did this! For yet another chance to drink with friends! Because this is Jirou and you can always be sure there will be alcohol around him.

Of course if you'd rather have fun doing karaoke with him then he's out on the lovely balcony flipping through the songs to find the right one to play.

Or you can just pop up and wish him congratulations at any point during the night. He is more than happy to get those and tell you how amazing Kenta is!]

[Derek eventually finds Jirou and walks up to him with a gift bag in his hand.]

Jirou! Congratulations again on your engagement!

[Derek offers the gift bag to Jirou, which contains a very nice bottle of champagne]

I got you and Kenta a little something.

[Of course there will come a moment in the evening when Kenta sees Jirou finally on his own for a few minutes and comes to hug him from behind, resting his chin on his fiancé's shoulder.]

[Fai wouldn't have missed Jirou and Kenta's engagement party for the world, even if it's just... really another excuse for Jirou to throw a party. He's too invested in his friends and their adorable relationship to quit now!

(Besides, it's a handy excuse to drag his own boyfriend out into the light instead of holing up in their house or his shop all the time, and it's an excuse to get fancied up and drink a lot. Win-win-win-win?)

While he hasn't been much for cross-dressing since he lost his eye, he also can't possibly think of a safer place for it than in the company of Jirou, Kenta and Iwai. So while he's not going to wear one of his real kimonos to the party and risk getting it dirty or stained (there are plenty of other chances to do that, ahem), he's wearing something sort of Japanese inspired that also shows off his incredibly long legs. And if he's not quite keeping up with Jirou's drinking, that's only because Jirou is the master.

When he can manage to steal his friend for a moment or two, in between Jirou needing to be a good hostess and mingle with everyone else, Fai is resting his head on Jirou's shoulder and sipping a tiny glass of... something. Who cares what it is?]

Hmmm~ This is a really nice party! I don't know all of these people.

[Tatsuo is a little late arriving due to supervising Fight Club responsibilities, but he leaves that a little early in order to attend Jirou and Kenta's engagement party. The first thing he does on arriving is seek out Jirou in order to congratulate his friend on his upcoming nuptials.]

Jirou! Sorry I'm late.

[Under one arm is tucked a modest sized box (though there's just the decanter and two double old fashioned glasses). He's pretty sure Jirou has plenty of drinkware already, but they were too funny to pass up.]

[Kenta is technically the co-host of the party, since it's his engagement being celebrated, but you'd be excused for not knowing it, since he's not exactly putting himself out there.

He's wearing a black suit with a dark red dress shirt and no cravat. Instead, the collar of his shirt is open and he's wearing a necklace with a few charms on it. His hair is tied up in his usual ponytail, and he's wearing just a touch a make-up around his eyes, liner and a touch of red, and maybe some gloss as well.

He will be more than happy to explain stuff about the different sake if you need help choosing one.

However, if you try to take a picture with him to commemorate, he will politely decline. And if you somehow try to include him in group shots,a nice Japanese man in a black suit will tap you on the shoulder and ask you nicely not to.]

[Of course he's been brought here by Fai. Parties aren't really his thing but hey he does at least know the happy couple. He can support them. Kenta especially since he's the one he's a little closer to.

When he sees Kenta off to the side at one point, he heads over to him. They've bonded over being anti-social before. Might as well do that again.]

[Well you can be sure that Biffy is going to walk up to the tall man with a smile on his face. He may be almost a foot shorter but he doesn't carry himself like that at all. He's obviously never been thrown off by Kenta's height and he's not about to start now.]

Congratulations, Kenta. You look amazing as well. Though that's not much of a surprise.

[Derek sees Kenta standing alone up against a wall, with some of his body guards near by. Now Kenta, that just won't do. This is your party after all.

With a glass of sake in hand, Derek walks over to Kenta.]

You aren't being anti-social at your own party are you?

[Orion himself is dressed in a nice, red button down, making sure to keep his collar popped, and black dress pants. And his hair isn't terribly messy for a change.

He won't partake in any of the drinking, so he might as well do something akin to mingling. He finds the next quiet person he can and sidles up to them. If he's going to be an awkward conversationalist, then hopefully this guy will be too, to make it easier.]

[It's a good thing Jirou and Fai know each other so well, and trust each other to hell and back. Because here's Fai looking cute and girly (for a change, lately) just kind of waltzing his way up to Kenta and wrapping his arms around his tall friend like he belongs there. Honestly if asked, he'd be incredibly confused about why there was a problem with this at all??

He rests his head against Kenta and sighs happily.]

I'm so happy for you two. You're not even married yet! But I'm still really happy for you~

[Fai is always this affectionate with those he's close to. But he's also quite tipsy right now.]

I almost ... no, I actually do feel bad my sense of taste is going these days.

[ It's said idly to Kenta, but it's also her way to strike up a conversation with the one she knows less here. He's always seemed pretty taciturn, so prompting an idly conversation while she's sitting here at a little side table playing with a cake seems good.

... Offering for him to sit if he wants ]

[ Tarr showed up in part because he was invited, and in part to bring a sampling of some drunken tea cakes as well as a selection of normal cakes of the same variety. Each one of the drunken cakes had a small +21 flag stuck in them so a person could tell with a glance just which was which. Making sure to set them next to the other food offerings, he then went to greet the hosts before settling on awkward roaming around the room.

He might be a goth full time, but he still was able to scare up a colorful (for him) suit to wear and even downplayed his usual makeup. He was trying to look absolutely normal though that might be a little hard to do with his vampire-like teeth, especially when the fangs decide to fully extend past his lips. Which means that he will pull his jacket up in an attempt to hide his face, or duck his head because they are weird.

But after a couple drinks he stops trying to hide and heads directly to the karaoke machine, where he will spend a lot of time singing despite having a lisp thanks to the fangs. Join him or give him drinks and win a rare smile. ]

[Of course he has one of the delicious treats in hand and a glass of sake when he goes out to the balcony. Sitting down, he listens to Tarr sing for a bit, waiting until the song ends. Only then does he let out a little cheer.]

Waaaah! You're so talented! I love your voice!

[He takes a bite of the cake and just melts with joy.]

With baking too. So goooooood.

Thank you for the cakes. I think Jirou is really, really interested in the ones you baked with alcohol in them.

[Jirou loves the cakes from Tarr's bakery, especially since Kenta has been buying them for him regularly since last summer.]

WE're not sure yet about the guest list... How much advance notice will you need?

[Anyone who's met Jirou probably shouldn't be surprised that he keeps the company of other drag queens/cross-dressers. So hopefully it's not too jarring for the other guests when a tall, willowy blond with an eyepatch over one eye and his hair piled up in an updo makes his way over to the snacks wearing a cute, sort-of Japanese inspired outfit that shows off his long legs.

Technically he doesn't actually need to eat real people food anymore--or at least he's pretty sure he could get by without it, since he doesn't exactly remember all of the rules to this vampire thing--but he's heard tell of cakes with alcohol in them. So of course he had to come over and inspect them for himself.]

Ah, these are so perfect for a Jirou-party! I wish I'd thought of it!

[Is he talking to the treat he's holding and looking at lovingly? Or the guy in the suit nearby? Who can say?]

You know, have we met in person this whole time?

[ It's asked casually as she gets in up next to the man during one of those times she sees him pulling up his jacket. She has fangs too, but they aren't very pronounced. She grins a little at him, eternally grateful this party is at night.

... She's smaller than you'd expect in person. 5' and very thin'll do that to you.

Either way, she's a bit surprised but pleased to see him here. ]

I: General mingling, wait Derek has a date?

[When Derek heard got the invitation he started to panic. He could bring a date? However, he didn't panic for too long and he pretty quickly asked Lillian to be his date. She said yes, and he started to breath again. Knowing that the party was being partyly hosted by Jirou and that there would be a lot of sake there, instead of driving he own car, he called and Uber. Hopefully he won't make a fool of himself and get completely plastered, but since he is responsible for getting Lillian home, he's going to opt out of driving and depend on a safer mode of transportation.

He arrives at the party with Lillian and he's usually near her unless she wanders off somewhere to talk to someone. If he's not trying sake or singing Karaoke, he's probably either chatting with Lillian or by himself enjoying a few snacks. He is in a really good mood and will welcome any conversation.]


II: Sake tasting and snacks

[Derek is at the sake tasting table and is looking at all the bottles. He has had sake before, but he's never had sake this nice. He has a small plate with some snacks on it but he is absolutely stumped on which sake to try first.]

Which one should I try first?

III: Karaoke

[Derek would not be Derek if he didn't do some Karaoke. So you will find him at some point during the night out on the balconey and flipping through the song book, trying to decide which song he should sing. Please join him. Singing a duet will ony make him more happy.]

Depends. Have you had sake before?

[Yep, there's Iwai and he's casually walking up to Derek. Why wouldn't he? He does know him, after all. Besides it's kind of nice to know more than just a couple of people here.

Well okay so he basically is close to a grand total of three now but that's still better than two right?]

Could change my answer on which one to try.

For Iwai

[It wouldn't be fair to monopolize all of Jirou and Kenta's time tonight, since they have so many guests to mingle with, but that's okay because Fai has his sexy boyfriend here with him. And while he's tried to give Iwai a bit of space to go forth and do some mingling of his own, at some point in the night he's definitely going to end up on top of him.

--sitting on his lap on the sofa, of course. Get your mind out of the gutter, that comes later.

He's kicked off his strappy heels, curled his legs up, and he's got his arms around Iwai's neck. Just sort of draped on him, like usual. And even though he's usually like this to some extent, it's very obvious he's been drinking.]

Mmm, Jirou looks so nice tonight! Although poor Kenta looks like a deer in headlights, doesn't he?

[He's pretty used to this. Well, the Fai in his lap part. The tipsy part isn't something he deals with often but he doesn't mind that part either. Iwai actually looks more relaxed having the pretty blond on his lap where they can just spend time together while everyone else is mingling.

(He did try to do some mingling but it's just not his thing. This is way better.)

Iwai does snort a little at the observation about Kenta though.]

He's a lot like me and not that into social situations. He's just young enough to let it show more.

[He reaches up to fix a bit of Fai's hair.]

But he's probably happy just because Jirou is.

[ Tatsuo shows up a little late, as he had supervision duties at Fight Club> But he leaves a little early in order to attend Jirou and Kenta's engagement party. He doesn't bring a +1 for that reason, but also because he doesn't really have anyone to bring. Which is convenient since he has to arrive late as it is.

He nods at the people he knows before going to offer his congratulations to the couple. Afterwards he can be found just milling about, enjoying the food and egging on the ones who go for the karaoke.]

b : drinks and snacks
[There's a lot of delicious food laid out for the guests, and Tatsuo is hard pressed to not just pick up whole plates. He limits himself to just one or two, depending on the size of the morsel (and plans to make a second trip once he figures out which of the refreshments are the tastiest. He takes a bit more time picking something to drink, but he eventually opts for some of the sake.]

c : karaoke? kara-okay?
[For the most part, Tatsuo just encourages anyone who gets up to sing karaoke. He's not the best singer out there, and he generally just prefers to watch others get up to make spectacles of themselves. But after he's had his third drink... there is a decent chance of convincing him to get up there. If someone goes up there with him.]

[When Derek sees Tatsuo at the drink table he swings his arm around Tatsuo and points his finger of his opposite hand at the most expensive bottle of sake, the over two grand one.]

You need to try that one. Like, it's WAAAAAY better than the stuff you have. It doesn't even taste like alcohol!

[ Of course she was going to come, the men had set it at night precisely because she was coming, right? At the very lead, Jirou had said he would. It's for this reason Elda Marker arrives with her more dogged effort to feel like she belongs and she's enamored to be there (which is mostly true, and she does love one of the grooms to be here). That purple dress she found months ago, though it fit her well before, fits her even better now that Retrospec has seen fit to remove her muscle mass, limited as it was, leaving her even tinier. Generously 90-92 lbs.

Ah well.

Here at the party, she's content to enjoy herself, mingling with people, trying her hand at karaoke (she does have a singing voice she's proud of) and... well. She doesn't seem to be eating or drinking too much. Some sake, snacking on bits of food here and there. Towards the end of the night or at least as things are slowing down, she's here staring intently at one of those cupcakes, running a nail through the frosting.

... Will this taste like something, she wonders. ]

[When Jirou sees her, he immediate goes over. One of the first things he notes is how they have very similar dress ideas going on. Beaming, he barely waits for her to notice he's there before her before he has her drawn into a hug. As well as a kiss to her cheek.

Okay yes he has to bend waaaaaaaaaay down to do this but he doesn't care! This is his Elda and he loves her so much!]
