WHAT: It's a birthday party! Amanda is now 18! With Derek throwing in his wizard candy to make things more interesting
WARNINGS: none? Wizard Candy stuff?

It's March 17th and it is the most IMPORTANT first event of the year, at least in Derek's mind. With Amanda turning 18, Derek has tried to create the PERFECTA BIRTHDAY PARTY! Amanda wanted it small and family. So he invited only "family." Foggy (the cousin), Matt (honorary brother), and Tatsuo (also an honorary brother). His apartment is decked out in red streamers, a "HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY!" sign strung across the front of his kitchen. He had red party plates and cups, and red and white streamers everywhere else. He figured it was fine since the ones he had hung above Blaise's cat tree was entertaining for his cat.

A. CAKE AND CELEBRATION

The cake is in the center of the table with a box of 24 birthday candles next to it. It's huge and a bit gaudy, but Derek felt this was the PERFECT CAKE. If anyone is wondering, it's chocolate. There is also plenty of soda and water to drink.

It's time to give the birthday girl her gifts!

C. WIZARD CANDY FUN?

So Derek figured a good way to pass the time was to introduce some of his close friends and family to the contents of a package he got from retrospec. It's wizard candy. If a person looks inside they will see that everything has been opened, meaning, Derek (and Chiyo) have tried everything first and didn't die. The contents are as follows:

*Box of chocolate frogs (8) (magical property- The frogs can move)
*Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans (2 boxes) (The flavors)
*Cauldron Cakes (3 cakes)
*Fizzing Whizzbees (1 opened package) (magical property- the consumer floats)
*Exploding bonbons (1 opened package) (magical property- they explode in your mouth)
*Sugar Quill (4 quills)
*Liquorice Wands (opened pack of 6, now 4)
*Pumpkin Pasty (3 pasties)
*Pepper Imps (one opened package) (magical property- the consumer smokes at the ears and nose)
*Peppermint Toad (one opened package) (magical property- the toad "hops realistically in the stomach")

If asked, Derek will tell you if the sweet has magical properties. Feel free to help yourself and experience a bit of magic!

BONUS: WHAT EVER ELSE DECIDES TO HAPPEN AT THE PARTY!

General mingling and what ever crazy decides to happen at the party. This also includes what ever happens once Amanda leaves to hang out with her friends.

I'm surprised Zee actually sent his own personal phone. That's asking for trouble isn't it? You'd think he'd send a company phone if he gave in and listened to James.

[ It could be a sign Zee is the gullible sort. That could come in handy later. ]

Interesting. A diagram of their goal for the souls they want re-alligned. Too bad the rest isn't labeled. We would have a better idea of their ultimate plans for us.

[Derek turns a page in his notebook.]

There's more. There was some hand written stuff, but only a part of it was written in English. I took a picture of it and then transcribed it on the ride back. It says,

"To prevent mass panic among those rescued and those whose souls are restored, the Retrospec Project will be carefully monitoring when users reach the second ring. It is rather unfortunate that we cannot exactly derive what portions of the soul will reconstruct first and what portions of their memories and essence are attached to each strand. Our research department will work to create a monitoring system to watch over the project and those in it to ensure that they can be looked after at all times. As the souls cultivate and begin to reform, we will study the effects on the user as well to prevent from overexposure.

There are several uncharted planets whose effects we do not know, and we anticipate some cases being more complicated than others.

For this reason, I propose that we prevent those who are not ready to be exposed to the second ring from the risk of the storms that have begun to occur on this planet. At this time, it is nearly impossible to separate those who are simply rescued and those who are to be reconstructed but have yet to awaken. Therefore, they will all remain in the first layer blissfully unaware as they should be.

As members of our project begin reforming to their original selves, we will further monitor and discuss at a later date.

Recollé is the perfect hub for our project and for refugees. From here, we may monitor their progress, set up a base for our research and technical departments, and ensure that we are in a space in which the storms can also be further monitored. We wish to prevent a storm of high magnitude hitting this planet as well.

Further study will also go into pockets outside of our current planet and more information will be available at a later date. Please see the attached proposal."

It seems to be reemphasizing that our souls are from different worlds and they are trying to turn us back into the person we are seeing in our memories.

[ Matt snorts. ]

I'm surprised by how much of that I understood. It actually doesn't do much except re-suggest some of the things we've already discovered or been told.

Any idea what the other languages were on the off chance someone can read the rest?

[Derek sets his small notebook down.]

Sadly no. Only parts were translated into English, the rest I couldn't even recognize.

Too bad. Has this all been passed on to be added to the Retrospec guide Elda has been managing?

[Derek has no idea who this Elda person is.]

Elda Marker, she's a friend. She came to my birthday party in December.

Hmm, I have yet to meet her. You'll have to introduce me some time.
