WHAT: It's a birthday party! Amanda is now 18! With Derek throwing in his wizard candy to make things more interesting
WARNINGS: none? Wizard Candy stuff?

It's March 17th and it is the most IMPORTANT first event of the year, at least in Derek's mind. With Amanda turning 18, Derek has tried to create the PERFECTA BIRTHDAY PARTY! Amanda wanted it small and family. So he invited only "family." Foggy (the cousin), Matt (honorary brother), and Tatsuo (also an honorary brother). His apartment is decked out in red streamers, a "HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY!" sign strung across the front of his kitchen. He had red party plates and cups, and red and white streamers everywhere else. He figured it was fine since the ones he had hung above Blaise's cat tree was entertaining for his cat.

A. CAKE AND CELEBRATION

The cake is in the center of the table with a box of 24 birthday candles next to it. It's huge and a bit gaudy, but Derek felt this was the PERFECT CAKE. If anyone is wondering, it's chocolate. There is also plenty of soda and water to drink.

B. PRESENTS

It's time to give the birthday girl her gifts!

C. WIZARD CANDY FUN?

So Derek figured a good way to pass the time was to introduce some of his close friends and family to the contents of a package he got from retrospec. It's wizard candy. If a person looks inside they will see that everything has been opened, meaning, Derek (and Chiyo) have tried everything first and didn't die. The contents are as follows:

*Box of chocolate frogs (8) (magical property- The frogs can move)
*Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans (2 boxes) (The flavors)
*Cauldron Cakes (3 cakes)
*Fizzing Whizzbees (1 opened package) (magical property- the consumer floats)
*Exploding bonbons (1 opened package) (magical property- they explode in your mouth)
*Sugar Quill (4 quills)
*Liquorice Wands (opened pack of 6, now 4)
*Pumpkin Pasty (3 pasties)
*Pepper Imps (one opened package) (magical property- the consumer smokes at the ears and nose)
*Peppermint Toad (one opened package) (magical property- the toad "hops realistically in the stomach")

If asked, Derek will tell you if the sweet has magical properties. Feel free to help yourself and experience a bit of magic!

BONUS: WHAT EVER ELSE DECIDES TO HAPPEN AT THE PARTY!

General mingling and what ever crazy decides to happen at the party. This also includes what ever happens once Amanda leaves to hang out with her friends.

a. cake

Tatsuo is giving that cake a one over. It's just so... busy. How many decorations does one cake need? On top of that...

"Even with five us, I don't think we're going to be able to finish it..."

At least not in one go.

b. presents

Once the cake has been sliced and passed around, Tatsuo holds out a gift bag to Amanda.

"Happy Birthday, Amanda. Welcome to adulthood."

Inside the gift bag is a sturdy, but stylish, water bottle.

c. wizarding candy

Tatsuo gets a bit curious about all this candy Derek has provided. Particularly the chocolate frogs. Just how accurate will the frog be anatomically? Or are they just cartoonish figures?

So he's not prepared when the frog suddenly jumps out of its packaging the moment he opens it.

"Wha--What the hell?"

[ She snatches the bag, quickly pulling the water bottle from within. She grins - seems like it's a hit! ]

Hey, thanks Tatsuo. You come up with this by yourself?

I figured keeping hydrated is just as important with dance as it is in karate. The trick was figuring out where to buy one.

[ask him where to buy karate themed merch and he can name at least six online stores]

[Derek sees the frog jump to the floor. Well, that won't do will it. Pulling out his wand he points it at the escaping frog.]

Wingardium Leviosa!

[The frog starts to levitate and rises, wiggling in mid air.]

Here, now you can grab it. They move by the way.

Derek. You have some weird candy.

[Tatsuo does grab the frog once Derek levitates it close enough]

I almost don't want to eat it now. The wiggling makes it mildly disturbing.

[not that it stops him from ripping a leg off and popping it in his mouth]

[Derek chuckles.]

This is wizard candy Tatsuo. The chances of them having magical properties are pretty high. I mean, if you really want to have a magical experience, try one of the exploding bonbons. They actually explode in your mouth.

Everything about that sentence is just wrong.

[really Derek]

But fine. Give me one. I'll eat it soon as I finish with this frog.

[Derek reaches into the package of exploding bonbons and holds one out for Tatsuo to take.]

Here you go. How the chocolate frog by the way?

[Tatsuo sets the bonbon on the table next to him]

Aside from the wiggling and escape attempts, they taste like regular chocolate. It's probably less disturbing than a hopping chocolate rabbit would be.

Those guys moving surprised me too. On the bright side they don't scream when you eat them. They only continue to croak.

[Derek glances at the wrapper in Tatsuo's hand.]

By the way, is there a card in the wrapper? Is there anything on it?

If there's a candy that screams when you eat it, I don't want one.

[because why? why would you do something like that?]

But yeah, there is a card in there.

[Tatsuo pulls the card from the wrapper and hands it to Derek]

[Derek takes the card from Tatsuo and then about drops it. What the FUCK?]

Bloody hell, it's him. It's Harry Potter! That bloody menace is on a card?

[While all the other cards were blank before, this one, had a clear picture of Harry Potter on it. Derek flips it over and there is an inscription.]

'The boy who lived.' Really? That's all?

[Derek turns the card back over and that is when he realizes that 'Harry' was moving. Derek instantly shoves the card in Tatsuo's face.]

Bloody hell, look at this. The picture is moving. I swear it's moving! It's not a hologram, it's MOVING!

Wait, Harry Potter?

[Tatsuo lowers his voice]

Isn't that the guy who attacks Draco?

[of course, then Derek gets all distracted by the picture moving, which Tatsuo doesn't believe until he looks himself]

That... that is kind of disturbing.

[Derek lowers his voice too.]

Yeah, this is the guy.

[Derek glares at the guy on the card and then his eyes widen when Harry turns around and walks out of the frame.]

WHAT?

[Derek covers his mouth to try and not attract attention. He flips over the card and flips it back to a black frame.]

Where did he go?

Foggy was just looking over the candy options when Tatsuo opened the chocolate frog. When something goes flying out of the package he startles, "HOLY SHIT!" Foggy covers his mouth immediately out of habit whenever a teen is around until he realizes it's an eighteen year old Amanda of all kids and he shrugs off his mistake.

"What the?" He stares at the chocolate frog where it landed. "Is that supposed to be candy?"

Tatsuo can't help but snicker when Foggy covers his mouth. You can always spot the teacher when there's a child or teen in the room. Or at least the teachers that don't believe in swearing in front of them.

"I think so?"

He quickly bends down to grab the frog, catching it mid-hop.

"The wrapper said chocolate..."

"It is chocolate brown. But it also seems to be breathing?" Foggy laughs uneasily. "Are you really going to eat it? Like what if it keeps moving or has syrup blood?"

"As long as it's syrup-blood and not blood-blood. It smells like chocolate and it feels like chocolate. So I'm hoping it's chocolate all the way through."

Aaaaaand Tatsuo bites off a leg.

"Tastes like chocolate."

"Well thank God the label is correct. No false advertising! But does it wiggle in your mouth like it's alive still?" That's the REAL KICKER on Foggy's list of things he does not want his food to do.

"Nah, once it touches your mouth it stops moving."

Because that would have been a big NO for Tatsuo as well. Food should not move around in your mouth.

"Good! That would be really freaky. Not worth eating unless you're going to win a bet or Fear Factor." Foggy puts his hands up and swallows his nerves. His imagination went some disturbing places just now. He has been reading to many sci fi novels for his own good. "Can't believe Retrospec sends food too. That's new."

"It is the first time I've heard of them sending out food. Most of what I've seen have been personal items, clothing, weaponry, technology, books..."

Tatsuo bites off the chocolate frog's head and it thankfully stops wiggling altogether.

"This is some rather... strange candy though. So maybe that's why some of it came through."

"Retrospec policy states that only the odd and unexpected can be sent through their mail box."

"Hah, considering we don't really expect any of the things they send us, that sounds accurate to me."

"I figured out the mystery!" He throws his hands in the air and draws out his cell phone. "Did you hear that Retrospec? Done! No more games! Where's my prize?"
