[ it wasn’t obvious at all, and eren grins, raising his brows at elliot. at least their attention was taken and still unaware. feeling like he’s still got an upper hand, even after elliot’s taken a few rides in the driver’s seat, eren flicks on the blinker to pull over, looking back at them through the rear view mirror. ]

Huh? You mean drive this car? Now?

[Straightens up in his seat. He does a little fist pump with both his hands.]

I'm fine not drivin'. [ if elliot and john would like to... ] Though I can if we need me to.

[He sits up suddenly, eyes bright and eager.] How much further do we have? I want to drive a little because your car is way better than mine.

[ stopping the car and pulling the breaks, eren clicks the door open and lets it rise (god this is so extra), prodding elliot’s arm to switch with him, walking over to the other side to squeeze into the back seat once john comes out and gesturing for him to hop up to the front with elliot. ]

Go for shotgun— Pretty sure we have enough time for everyone still.

[ and once he’s in the back, john can pull the seat forward to the front to sit with elliot, but to dave: ]

You need to try it out, Dave. At least once.

[It IS extra but so is Eren so it works? Elliot looks quite eager as he climbs over into the driver seat. He'll take a moment to adjust his seat, since he is much shorter than Eren, but man is he clearly excited to drive]

If you want? Drivin' is chill, it's just never been my raison d'être. [ well, he likes driving john's car sometimes, but that's different.

he swings his legs off john's lap once people start moving around, though. ]

[Cool, musical chairs it is. John practically bolts out of the car (because they've been in the car for so long and he swaps to the front seat, shifting the seat to accommodate for his slightly longer legs before turning to face the rest of the group.]

It'll be fun. Eren's car is way nicer than Casey anyway. I think we're ready when you are, Elliot!

[ they’re good to go, then? they’re good to go. elliot’s the first one up and that just gets his smile to widen as he clicks his seatbelt in and prods john’s side from the back seat. ]

[ as he opens the back window to let the chilly winter breeze of nature and magatus in to hit their faces. sorry dave. he likes to feel the speed. in his hair.

[Yeaaaah cool riding music. Elliot's grinning ear to ear when he hears it's go time.]

Okay, here we go!

[It starts slow, pulling out from the side of the road, giving himself a minute to adjust to the car and how she handles. He seems like a good driver, thanks to all the driving lessons his family made him do in hopes he'd be driving a police car or a military jeep. But as soon as they come across a long straight patch of road? He hits on the gas.

[ ugh. decent music, but he grimaces anyway because of the band name that automatically pops into mind.

[The brightside: John's comfortable up here and he's fine with Elliot speeding and the music choice.

The downside: he's plastering his face against the window because he doesn't want to figure out how the fuck to roll down the window.]

Seriously though we're almost there, right?

[ eren laughs as elliot does just what he’s taught him about lovely straights and the roaring engine of sports cars. it’s probably because of john too, to which he reaches between the little cracks between the seats and presses the magic button. behold, front seat window down. ]

See that? [ he points out, to the darkening sky and beautiful array of lights reflecting off the clouds and stars. there’s a larger mountain they’re getting into, enough for their ears to start popping a little. ] I’d say fifteen minutes? Maybe ten the way Elliot’s going.

I mean, presumably we eventually will have to drive back. For seven more glorious hours?

[ not that dave cares if he can play random music...he actually doesn't mind the idea of just taking a few pictures, either.

Yeah, I don't mind waiting for the drive back! This is a mini-vacation. There is plenty of time for that kind of stuff. I'm excited to get to the lodge and then try the slopes and stuff.

Or, [ eren shrugs, sticking his hand out the window to feel the air lashing it back. look at elliot go 😭 you’re doing amazing sweetie . . . ] you guys can switch up until we get there. I don’t mind it.

[Because Elliot sure don't want to stop now. This is too smooth. John's remarks about this being a vacation brings a smile to his face. Yeah...he could use one alright]

Once or twice! I tried skiing and that ended, like, really poorly so snowboarding was what I picked up after that. It's been a while though. [He just kind of eyes Dave in the back, not at all surprised. He kind of feels bad that it's Magatus of all places, but they're together. It'll be fun. It has to be.] I can teach you if you want and don't know how.

How many sports can you actually do?

We’re gonna have to race, John.

[ as someone who also has done or is doing like ten different sports, dave gets a nudge. ]

Aha thanks John, but I'm planning to stay in the ski lodge as much as possible. [EFF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY]

I'd like to see you two race though!

Is snowboarding really considered a sport? [Yes.] You guys can keep each other company in the lodge and watch through the window then while I beat Eren by a mile. [He might cheat with the wind, we don't know yet.] Anyway it's just soccer and baseball, snowboarding is a hobby.

You absolutely should have one of those jock jackets at this rate. Both of you. Elliot, you're the only normal one anymore.

Actual jocks would hate you for that. [ eren never got along with those guys— well, very little with the majority of groups. as the mountains near and the chill in the air drops to freezing, eren raises his window to close. almost there, it seems! ]
