but elliot no that’s the kind of thing (albeit on a far more intentional and malicious level) that made eren punch a payphone instead of a face and never want to date again. it gets him by surprise and if he doesn’t look like a kicked pup to some degree for half a second then his poker face game is on fleek. or he’s just not looking at any of you to notice.

[Elliot is sitting next to Eren and looking at him, so of course he sees that kicked puppy look. It surprises him and he immediately feels bad - the story of the payphone has slipped his mind, so he's not sure why Eren reacted that way. But the whys really don't matter do they?

Were Natty and Zack not here, he probably would bring it up to address it. But not wanting to make a scene in front of the relatives, he reaches over to take Eren's hand. His thumb runs over Eren's skin affectionately and give him an apologetic look. Sorry honey, bad joke. His bad.

As for the conversation, to keep things from getting awkward...]

Y-Yeah, it was pretty easy to tell when it's a green screen sometimes, but...that's part of the fun? It's not really meant to be taken super seriously.

Actually, I find the un-reality of it really interesting... [ She pauses a moment and... ] Like, I can tell you from my memories that when a monster dies, it doesn't look anything like it did in that movie. With the dragon? It's a lot more violent looking. Bloody.

[ She's - honestly, she's uncomfortable with the idea of that violence. She's uncomfortable with the idea of the fact that she has killed people - animals? Both - in some other life, and so she does actually go rigid for about half a second when Zack says that. But she relaxes just as easily, smirking a little when the others pick up in the moment, and she hops to her feet with a smirk.

She doesn't have her sword - of course she doesn't - and she doesn't have the context of what'll happen at the university in a week or two so-

She picks up an empty cup, as if it were some sort of really short sword. ]

[Movie opinions and monster semantics aside, Zack grins wolfishly at his younger cousin and prepares for the mock fight. He's opting for hand-to-hand as he doesn't exactly have a broadsword ~~or beach parasol~~ on him and he's acting the part of monster right now.]

[ eren nods to elliot— come on, the bay movies are good things too, their special effects are better than these moves with the guys in capes. but looking between zack and natalia, then back to elliot . . . his shoulders relax a little, and out comes a teensy smile. ]

[Elliot meanwhile gives a little giggle at the actions of his cousins. ]

[This is more like it. A mock battle to the death against his cousin in the arena of Eren's living room. Much better than arguing the nuances around monster movies. Haven't they all been through enough of that crap in real life (or past life) already?

With Natalia haven't dodged his punch Zack quickly swoops in and grabs her around the waist to haul her up into the air. She's light as a feather but with Zack's heightened strength it's even easier.

He moves dramatically which has him shoving the coffee table with his knee even more and it knocks over the bowl of whatever-healthy-thing Natalia brought. Chips go flying!]

Die kale chips! You have no power here!!

[ ohhh no, you know where that’s all going? straight for his limited edition optimus right next to the tv’s speaker. that’s when eren has to zoom with his reflexes to try and play catch. sorry elliot, but his people need him— his people including his mechas, his floor and natalia’s chips, pushing off from his seat on the ground to sliding across the actual floor with an outstretched arm. you can practically hear him going nnnnnnnnoooo, complete with slow motion action.

he catches the bowl, protects optimus, but not all chips are saved, including his own pringles can that flew through the air behind him.

[Elliot meanwhile stays on the couch, watching with wide eyes at the horror unfolding between the kale chips and the optimus prime]

it’s not natalia’s fault that her foot skims his face by an inch, to which he flinches back and hits his head near the speakers, putting prime in another wave of clattering danger god you stay right there, prime. eren scurries to make the clatter stop, hands on it like a delicate flower until it’s fully protected.

zack is a menace that must be stopped. is eren playing around too? is eren being serious? knowing eren and the face he pulls, yes. he’s being serious. he holds his phone up. he knew this day would come.
