monday, tuesday, thursday, and friday evenings -- utsuki dojoAfter taking a couple weeks off from teaching at the end of January, Tatsuo is back for his classes in February. Monday night is for himself, the black belt class, as he continues preparing to test for his next rank. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday he teaches, first the adult beginners and then the self-defense class. He's noticeably restrained in his movements, whether participating or teaching. The observant will pick up on the fact he's favoring the left half of his abdomen.
most wednesday evenings -- deadeye shooting rangeMost Wednesdays after work, Tatsuo is at Deadeye for about an hour. The consistency of his aim has steadily improved over the several months since he acquired his other-self's ability to use firearms. But that doesn't mean he doesn't still need to practice. Those that encounter Tatsuo at the shooting range will find him working with a couple different hand-guns, a pair of S&W Model 36 revolvers and a Beretta 92 Vertec. He's more comfortable with the revolvers, as he's had them for longer, but his aim is a little bit better with the Beretta. He's also apparently an ambidextrous shooter.
However, those who've seen him shoot before will notice he's actually having a little trouble. There's an almost imperceptible twitch whenever one of the other range users fires their weapon. And any time Tatsuo puts down the gun he's using, his left hand trembles slightly. Most noticeably, his aim is off. Though his consistency is good, his shots keep pulling to the right.
a few mornings a week -- recollé recreation + fitness centerTatsuo's gym attendance has been rather sporadic the last several months. First the shoulder dislocation in September. Then getting his other-self's bullet wound in January. Honestly, it's probably still too early for him to be back at the gym, but Joanne's ominous message at the beginning of the month meant there was no time for taking it easy. All the same, he's careful. He's walking a fine line between maintaining his strength and aggravating his still healing injury.Maybe he should stop being stubborn and go find a healer.
the occasional morning -- a coffee shop somewhere in townTatsuo could make his own coffee. Often he does, for the sake of his wallet. $40+ for a month of cafe coffee or $8 for two months of homemade coffee? Single serving coffee makers are the best. But sometimes he rolls out of bed a few minutes too late or he doesn't want to go back home after going to the gym in the morning. On those days, he joins the throngs of bleary eyed individuals in line at a nearby coffee shop. Once it is his turn at the counter, he orders his usual, small dark roast with two sugars and soy milk. Usually, he doesn't get anything else, but this morning, he spots a chocolate hazelnut croissant and is suckered into spending another $3.
mid-mission breaks -- tatsuo's apartment in tisseFor his friends currently on away missions, Tatsuo has extended an invitation of pizza and their choice of liquor whenever they happen to get back into town, whenever that is. If they take him up on that offer, he'll order up their choice of pizza to be delivered to his place and pop down to the liquor store on the corner for the libations.
Don't mind the owl cage, or the large eagle owl for that matter, sitting in the corner of his living room closest to his balcony. He's watching him for a friend.
[ooc: If you want to use any of the Feburary effects, jlmk!]
Re: Mid-mission break
Yeah, there was this big set of silver doors. I'll tell you what's there when I get to the other side.
[Tatsuo pulls out his phone and brings up his exchange with Carlisle]
He seems to think the whole thing was intended as a distraction.
Re: Mid-mission break
He makes it sound like there is a 3rd party involved. It wasn't Retrospec who kidnapped the people? Then who?
Re: Mid-mission break
Dunno. Guess we'll find out when we finally get to them.
[bzzzzzzzzt]
That must be the food. Be right back.
[Tatsuo grabs his wallet and heads downstairs to pay the driver and collect the food. A few minutes later he's back. And it smells delicious.]
You are damn lucky you're family, or I'd have just sat down and eaten all of this myself.
Re: Mid-mission break
[Derek can smell the baked curry coming from the take out bag.]
Bloody hell that smells brilliant!
Re: Mid-mission break
You hope I wouldn't.
[he really wouldn't... but he'd be tempted]
Seriously. I was drooling the whole way up.
[Tatsuo sets the bag down on the coffee table and starts unloading. Two baked curries, edamame, vegetable tempura, gyoza, and some sake. And napkins and chopsticks.]
Yum.
Re: Mid-mission break
Good God! Whoever came up with the idea of baked curry was bloody brilliant!
[He picks up his pair of chops sticks, pulls them apart, and starts poking them through the melted mozzarella.]
Re: Mid-mission break
[Tatsuo opens the sake and sets one where Derek can reach it before digging into his own curry]
Re: Mid-mission break
Tatsuo, being the oldest person in the group is so frustrating. You have all of these whiny teenagers. Like, how does Foggy do it? How do you do it when you are teaching at the dojo? I mean, I burn two six foot tall rabbits to a crisp and this kid suddenly finds his inner Pocohantas and thinks I am a horrible person! Like, they were SIX FEET TALL rabbits that were attacking us! What did he expect me to do? My other spells weren't working on them. It was either use fire or I tickle charmed them.
[Derek pours himself another shot of sake and quickly downs it.]
And people wonder why I am picky about guys around my sister. Please, with guys like that, they aren't worthy of her!
Re: Mid-mission break
And now you know how I felt back in August, somehow being the 'responsible' adult in my group.
[which he was, but that doesn't mean he wanted to be the only one]
See, Foggy and I already have our authority established. These kids aren't going to listen to you just because you're the oldest person in the room. Or forest.
[and there is Derek's sis-con again]
Who says this guy is even interested in your sister? Besides, if she likes someone, you have about a 99.9% change she'll date the guy anyway and do it behind your back if you tell her you don't think the guy is good enough for her. You know how much teenagers hate being told what to do. Or what not to do.
Re: Mid-mission break
Ok, one, I didn't say he was interested in her, I just said guys like HIM aren't worthy of her. Two, of course I know she would probably date a guy behind my back if she knows I don't approve of him. Doesn't mean I still can't be picky.
Re: Mid-mission break
[seriously Derek, sometimes he just can't follow your siscon]
Re: Mid-mission break
Mate, wouldn't you be concerned about the dating welfare of your little sister if you met teenage guys of her generation that seem to fail at being competent? Who the bloody hell worries about the feelings of six foot rabbits that are attacking you?
Re: Mid-mission break
No, because I'd trust my sisters to have decent taste in significant others.
And honestly, I probably know a few people who would, simply because they place an extremely high value on all life, even the ones endangering your own.
Which isn't to say they're right and you're wrong. Just that different people have different priorities even in those situations.
Re: Mid-mission break
Exactly, why can't people just understand that others have different viewpoints than them and accept it instead of screaming at them in the middle of a fight. Like... ugh...
[Another spoon full of curry goes in his mouth.]
Teenagers are stressful man.
Re: Mid-mission break
[Tatsuo snorts into his glass of sake]
You are only now realizing this?
Re: Mid-mission break
Re: Mid-mission break
Because she's your sister and that automatically predisposes her toward you? And how do you know they aren't when your sample size is so small? Go talk to some of the teens that come to weapons practice.
[eating some of the edamame]
Re: Mid-mission break
This is true, my pool of subjects is quite small, and a lot of them are teenage girls, which is really weird. Well... James isn't so bad. He's OK.
Re: Mid-mission break
James... why does that name sound familiar... isn't that the kid Retrospec sent an arm to?
[dear Retrospec, pls don't send teenagers body parts]
Re: Mid-mission break
Wait what? He got sent an arm? I mean, he is MISSING an arm, but that was him? That's who it was that got an arm sent to him and then burned it?
Re: Mid-mission break
Yeah. I think I ran across him talking about it on one of the Retrospec posts.
Re: Mid-mission break
[Derek shovels another mouthful of baked curry into his mouth.]
So, anything else go on in the city while I was gone? Were there any strange valentines day shit Retrospec pulled on you?
Re: Mid-mission break
[Tatsuo groans at the mention of Valentine's Day.]
And how. There were.... I dunno, invisible cupids or something flying around. Or maybe they were just invisible giant mosquitoes. You'd feel this prick and then the weird shit would happen. Luckily it'd only last couple hours or so, but if you got hit again... For some reason I kept getting the rose petals. I'd run into someone on the street and all of a sudden... rose petals, everywhere!
Re: Mid-mission break
You're serious? Invisible cupids? So, like, did you suddenly fall in love with someone for a few hours?
Re: Mid-mission break
Nah, that nothing like that.
[only because it didn't happen to him personally....]
But I did walk around with heart shaped pupils apparently. And I'm not joking about the rose petals. It'd be like a random explosion of petals out of nowhere. Like an overly cliched romance movie.
