monday, tuesday, thursday, and friday evenings -- utsuki dojo
After taking a couple weeks off from teaching at the end of January, Tatsuo is back for his classes in February. Monday night is for himself, the black belt class, as he continues preparing to test for his next rank. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday he teaches, first the adult beginners and then the self-defense class. He's noticeably restrained in his movements, whether participating or teaching. The observant will pick up on the fact he's favoring the left half of his abdomen.

most wednesday evenings -- deadeye shooting range
Most Wednesdays after work, Tatsuo is at Deadeye for about an hour. The consistency of his aim has steadily improved over the several months since he acquired his other-self's ability to use firearms. But that doesn't mean he doesn't still need to practice. Those that encounter Tatsuo at the shooting range will find him working with a couple different hand-guns, a pair of S&W Model 36 revolvers and a Beretta 92 Vertec. He's more comfortable with the revolvers, as he's had them for longer, but his aim is a little bit better with the Beretta. He's also apparently an ambidextrous shooter.

However, those who've seen him shoot before will notice he's actually having a little trouble. There's an almost imperceptible twitch whenever one of the other range users fires their weapon. And any time Tatsuo puts down the gun he's using, his left hand trembles slightly. Most noticeably, his aim is off. Though his consistency is good, his shots keep pulling to the right.

a few mornings a week -- recollé recreation + fitness center
Tatsuo's gym attendance has been rather sporadic the last several months. First the shoulder dislocation in September. Then getting his other-self's bullet wound in January. Honestly, it's probably still too early for him to be back at the gym, but Joanne's ominous message at the beginning of the month meant there was no time for taking it easy. All the same, he's careful. He's walking a fine line between maintaining his strength and aggravating his still healing injury. ~~Maybe he should stop being stubborn and go find a healer.~~

the occasional morning -- a coffee shop somewhere in town
Tatsuo could make his own coffee. Often he does, for the sake of his wallet. $40+ for a month of cafe coffee or $8 for two months of homemade coffee? Single serving coffee makers are the best. But sometimes he rolls out of bed a few minutes too late or he doesn't want to go back home after going to the gym in the morning. On those days, he joins the throngs of bleary eyed individuals in line at a nearby coffee shop. Once it is his turn at the counter, he orders his usual, small dark roast with two sugars and soy milk. Usually, he doesn't get anything else, but this morning, he spots a chocolate hazelnut croissant and is suckered into spending another $3.

mid-mission breaks -- tatsuo's apartment in tisse
For his friends currently on away missions, Tatsuo has extended an invitation of pizza and their choice of liquor whenever they happen to get back into town, whenever that is. If they take him up on that offer, he'll order up their choice of pizza to be delivered to his place and pop down to the liquor store on the corner for the libations.

Don't mind the owl cage, or the large eagle owl for that matter, sitting in the corner of his living room closest to his balcony. He's watching him for a friend.

Pity, I would have paid good money to see you surrounded by rose petals and stuff. But really, invisible cupids? Lacks creativity. I want to hear stories about cupids shooting arrows in your butt and you finally asking Carmen out. Did Ikou at least have a better dating life than you, like when he wasn't hangout out with his yakuza best friend?

[Derek rudely points his chopsticks at Tatsuo.]

You could have. But I can't believe your Valentines day was so boring...

[Derek trails off as if he was remembering something.]

Wait! Your got the ride in Yoon-sung's McLaren right? THAT IS JUST SO NOT FAIR!

Oh yeah. That happened to. But only because we kind of got 'stuck together'. We couldn't get further than... ten feet apart. For the 24 hours.

[yes, they absolutely tested the range of this weirdness and timed how long it took for the effects to wear off]

'Stuck together?' Did the 'invisible cupids' do that?' And good grief, what did you guys to for 24 hours?

[Derek takes a sip of his beer.]

No, I'm pretty sure it wasn't the cupids. It only happened on the 14th, thank goodness.

[Tatsuo pops an edamame in his mouth]

Mostly we just chilled and watched TV and played with his cats.

[Would have been more funny if he had been stuck to Carmen. Then this story would have been WAY more interesting.]

[Derek takes another bite of his baked curry.]

Would have made a good movie premise. Yet, here you are making the whole idea boring.

As far as I can tell, no, not the cupids. Neither of us recalled feeling an arrow and those effects only lasted a couple hours. This was all day.

[pours himself more sake]

Yeah. Well. I couldn't exactly drag him to the lab. He could just skip work if he wanted to. So why subject ourselves to even more nonsense by going somewhere?

So you just decided to take a day off eh?

[Derek goes to take another bite of his curry when he stops mid bite.]

Wait... if you took a day off and I wasn't there... WHO THE FUCK DID YOU LEAVE IN CHARGE?

Yeah, luckily I still had some sick time.

[Tatsuo rolls his eyes at Derek's question]

Look, Brooks can handle things for one day. I was caught back up by Friday.

BROOKS?

[Derek almost drops his curry, but somehow doesn't in mid outburst.]

Brooks is a brown nosing imbecilic who can't even keep is fingerprinting kit clean and organized!

[Tatsuo rolls his eyes. He doesn't think as highly of Brooks as he does say... Derek, but the man's not completely incompetent]

It was one day, Derek. As you saw when you came back from your Camping Trip of Doom, the lab did not burn to the ground in your absence.

[Derek pops a dumping into his mouth.]

I mean true, it's still there...

[Derek finishes chewing.]

And it's not a Camping Trip of Doom. Are some of the teenagers annoying? Yeah, but it's nice to have a break and beat up some freaky rabbits and violent trees. It's stress relieving.

[Tatsuo just looks at Derek. Then slowly takes a long sip of sake.]

I'm repeating my earlier warning. Do not look in random wells.

[Derek grabs the bottle of sake and pours himself a glass.]

Noted, stay away from wells.

[Derek stars downing the sake.]

Ahh, it's so nice to drink. Everyone who was old enough was drinking, but I refused to. Needed at least one adult who was being responsible.

[Tatsuo LAUGHS]

At least you had some. I know at least one of my teammates was looking for booze by the end, but I dunno if she ever found any.

[he reaches over and clasps Derek on the shoulder]

Welcome to the life of the 'Responsible Adult.'

[Derek frowns.]

But I don't want to be a responsible adult. I want to be the fun bachelor who has a cool job and doesn't have to worry about a bunch of kids. That's Foggy's job.

[In an attempt to solidify his argument he chugs the rest of this glass of sake.]

[and Tatsuo will reach over and fill that glass right back up]

You sure you want to have a hangover in the morning?

[Derek will gladly take that sake. Thank you Tatsuo. He takes another gulp.]

Yes.

[Derek points at Tatsuo.]

I haven't drunk ALL MONTH! I deserve a hangover for what I've been through.

Uh huh. I don't doubt that.

[because he sure as hell needed several stiff drinks himself after August]

Though, a hangover might be a bit rough if you have to fight any monsters tomorrow.

[Derek, getting very drunk now, rolls his eyes.]

This is my one day off, don't suck the fun out of my day off and drink with me. Find your own hangover!

[Derek drinks more of his sake.]

I will pass on the hangover as I still have work tomorrow. And who knows when Carlisle will finally send us after the Mayor.

[Tatsuo has no intentions of going back in that subway tunnel with a hangover. Hell no.]

[Derek continues to drink his sake. Derek is going to have an awful hangover tomorrow morning.]
