TEAM THREE EVENT LOG
|
READY: START. Roster: Minato Arisato + Lalli Hotakainen, Chuuya Nakahara + Kit Fawkes, Yaboku Tomioka + Yukine Matsuoka, Natalie Goodman + Elliot Craig, Mimori Togo + Garfield Logan, Leo Valdez + Dante Rantanen, Souji Narukami + Mako Lou, Futaba Isshiki + Li-Na Yiu, Felicia Kilmassen + Lillian Aust, Eijirou Kirishima + Ann Takamaki, Derek Matthews + Rindou Kuninaga, Kon Ishida + John Becket, Izuku Midoriya + Ami Aihara, James Barnes + John Egbert, Keith Kogane + Shin Asuka On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering near the edge of the woods. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a fine troop of horses and Chocobos alike. Saddled up and ready to go, these creatures know the way and anxiously wait for their riders even if it looks like some of you may need to share. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached. Word of advice: feed them before you try to bring them back. They're touchy, but they're smart. They know the way to go and they'll be waiting to bring you back. Following Zee's advice, you'll find yourself on a ride west of the city, traveling through the woods for about two hours. As you travel, first the forest seems to grow darker but then it's brighter as you go. In a way, it almost feels as though you're shrinking as everything around you encompasses the area, but rest assure you remain the same size you always were. The sounds of woodland creatures and soothing streams echo around you, greeting you as you enter a region known as Bosuma. ![]() Bright, airy and open, Bosuma is a forest domain larger than life. Populated with towering trees and overgrown mushrooms, the forest is home mostly to animals from the sound of it and it’s rarely quiet. Chattering birds and the trickles of rivers make up the soundtrack for this area and it will take quite a while to walk anywhere to find some sort of civilization. Everything seems to be existing in peace and harmony in this section of the world and the scent of wildflowers mists through the trees as you walk through. The forest itself seems endless and it would take multiple trips and multiple attempts at making a map to get an idea of how large the area really is. Hollows and burrows pop up every now and then and several mossy areas appear to be the home for several creatures. The creatures, amazingly enough, aren’t afraid of human life and will even willingly approach anyone who wanders into their woods. Rabbits, raccoons, birds (finches and quails, most likely), squirrels and even deer will walk right up to you to greet you. Fish flow with the rivers and turtles and lizards bask themselves on the riverbanks to catch some of the sun shining down through the leaves above. However, even though it’s harder to find signs of civilization in this region it isn’t outright impossible. Some exploration will reveal cottages peppering the woods but people are still strangely absent in these parts. In fact, the cottages look as though they were vacated quickly and in hasty circumstances. Some homes have clothing strewn on the floor while others have fresh fruit and fish gathered and hunted for families. The animals won’t be able to answer any questions you may have, but after some time it becomes obvious they are prone to following human life. As night falls though the animals begin to taper off. Rabbits dart back to their rabbit holes and deer prance off into the thickets of trees. Owls begin to hoot and other nighttime critters stir. The forest continues to glow at night and the mushrooms provide an eerie almost iridescent appeal to the dark. It’s only in the dark that it becomes a bit more obvious that you haven’t been as alone as you’ve thought. The walls have ears and the trees have eyes, and at the stroke of midnight a swirl of magic flows through the air as several dryads step out from the trees, shyly approaching for a meet and greet. They have placed their trust in you. Try not to let them down, will you? This is the Team Three Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.
Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner! People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following: -Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts. -Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are. -Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.) -Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur. These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want! Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team. If your activity is low per objective, the moderators may reach out to you about reassignment as well. The schedule for Team Three is as follows: 3RD: Objective 1 posted (9PM EST) | Threading for Travel to Location | Threading for Objective One | General Network Mingle for Group | General Downtime MingleObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. |

Y-Yeah, let's...
[Greaaaat. He follows Mimori along until they catch up with Gar and Natalie. Elliot looks meanwhile pretty worriedly at the trees. And his worries only spike when he gets singled out as the one to fix this.]
H-Huh? Uh- maybe? I can try, but I've never...purified anything before...
no subject
[ it is a vague enough instruction that she is not entirely sure what to do with it. it's not like the huntsman gave them an instruction manual on how to deal with this kind of thing or anything. ]
Would just using healing magic on it even work?
no subject
[Gar grumbles to himself under his breath, making a reference that no one in his new group will understand.]
Whaddaya mean, 'maybe'? You mean none of us knows what we're doing? I'm just here to punch things for you, man.
...Well, cast the magic anyway and if it doesn't work I'll punch the lay lines.
Hold up, guys.
[They haven't walked for too long, but -- it's already beginning to get denser up ahead. The leyline they're following snakes right into a thick patch of gnarled trees some 50 feet ahead of them.]
Looks kinda dangerous. This is where the sniper gets ya as we bottleneck behind the trees. Maybe we should spread out a little.
[a moment of silence as gar finally uses his knowledge of FPSes for something almost slightly practical in real life]
no subject
[She stops as Gar instructs them to hold up, and then she's digging around in her bag for one of the small weapons she brought. Given the change in scenery, she's wondering if she might need it.]
Do not punch the leylines. [But.] We'll figure out what we have to do once we get closer, probably.
[Probably.]
no subject
But when Gar points out those trees? He'll take a look. Yeah. Those are ominous. And what more, even though it wasn't a windy day, Elliot had good enough hearing where he could hear wood creaking around in there- like something was moving, even if he couldn't tell what]
...I think I hear something in there...
no subject
[ look, last week she had to fight a whole bunch of weird ass monsters, so she is totally ready to be attacked by more monsters?
but nothing is coming out to bite them. ]
-- something just moved. On the trees.
[ it actually is the tree. ]
no subject
[Gar hadn't seen anything. But he stands still and stares at the grove of trees for a little while.]
...
[Then he picks up a tree branch and hurls it with all the strength he can muster. It clatters against the boughs of the closest tree with a satisfying thwack!
....The tree responds with a satisfying ]
Unnnnnghhhhhrrrrrr!!
Evil trees!
[Moments later, the branch comes whizzing back their way with much more force than when Gar had tossed it.]
no subject
[While she'd normally say more, that thought is forgotten as soon as she starts paying attention to whatever might be moving near them. There's a few moments where she's only tense and silent, before she notices Gar.]
Don't throw—
[She starts to say, just in time for the branch to leave his hands. Swearing under her breath, she grips the knife she brought, dodging the first branch by pure luck.]
Get back!
no subject
Even trees are attacking now?! Oh man-
[Right no time to freak. He'll focus on the tree to try to scan it. It'll stall the one he's scanning for a moment, but there's still a whole grove of them. He'll speak as the info starts coming into his mind.]
S-Shoot. The trees are completely infected with that dark energy! I think it's coming from some source in there?
no subject
Is there any way you could try to pinpoint the source? It might take too long if we're not entirely sure where we need to be aiming here.
[ especially since they are extremely outnumbered considering they are in a forest right now. ]
no subject
[Mimori might feel a sudden sharp pain on her elbow as the branch comes whizzing past, just grazing Gar as he dives out of the way. He shakes out his hand, then snaps two large pincers together sharply as he warps and distends his limb into the enormous claw of a fiddler crab.]
If it's coming from inside there, we gotta bust our way in! We just gotta follow those lines! I'll keep 'em busy; you guys push past!
[Not all the trees have come to life, it doesn't seem, and the ones that have are easily noticeable as they sport sharp grins and leer from a distance. Fearless, Gar takes a few steps forward and when a hail of branches and stones come showering his way, he deflects them easily with the thick carapace of his massive claw.
...Mimori is going to feel some stinging on her right hand, though.]
C'mon!
no subject
[She backs away a bit until Gar's hand shifts, and then she looks around him to see if it's safe to head in the direction the lines head. As she starts to hurry that way, another branch shoots out and wraps around her right wrist, trying to pull her down. With a small noise of pain, she lashes out at the wooden limb with her knife until it lets go; Elliot will feel a sharp, stinging sensation as this goes on.]
no subject
No, it's too hard to pinpoint with the energy. We need to clear some of it out first- try fire, water, and physical attac-
[He winces when his wrist suddenly feels pain out of nowhere. A quick glance tells him that he hasn't been hurt- so that must mean]
Natalie!
[He'll raise his staff and bring it down. Instead of a thud, it rings out like a tuning fork. There's a golden glow under Natalie's feet briefly before it fades. For the next few minutes, she'll notice that any injuries she gets will start to heal on their own, and her pain tolerance/defense has gone up a little bit.
Which is good because part of the hail of branches goes Elliot's way and one scrapes him in the arm. Ouch]
no subject
the pain in her hand is so sudden that mimori actually drops her gun out of surprise. she catches it fairly quickly, before turning in the direction where most of the branches seem to be getting launched from. ]
Aobozu! [ her fairy that looks like an egg materializes itself, summoning a shield. it's large enough that anything coming from directly ahead will bounce off it, but that still leaves their other sides uncovered. ]
Try not to get too separated. Gar, be careful, I know you're getting hit.
no subject
[Gar protests as an actual literal tree trunk comes hurtling his way. This time, he has the presence of mind to make very sure that none of it hits him.]
And 'course trees are weak to fire! But we can't set the forest on fire -- unless you guys got a hose, it's gonna hafta be --
[Gar leaps forward and smashes the closest tree with one crab (hammer), and the gnarled branches, withered and dry, crumple under his assault. A second claw whips forward and clamps down on one of the tree's major boughs - with a violent torsion, he wrenches it off.
The tree screeches in agony. For a few moments, the bombardment pauses as the other trees, too, howl their displeasure.]
See anything yet?!
no subject
What was that?
[There's a sharp inhale of surprise as the tree trunk goes flying, ducking instinctively even if she's outside of range. Another branch flies her way, but this one she dodges by dropping to the ground for a moment. She looks in that direction as Gar calls out, shaking her head.]
Not yet... We need to keep going.
no subject
[He ducks behind the fairy's shield as the trunk goes flying overhead. Once it's safe, he'll step out behind the shield]
I got something better than a hose!
[He moves until there's a clear path between him and one of the attacking trees with none of them in the way. He concentrates, channeling his magic from his ARCUS. Near him, there's a flash of blue light. A wall of water forms in front of him- and then goes flying out towards the trees - blasting into it like a high pressured wave and breaking off chunks of the wood. The tree howls in displeasure. And now that Elliot's close enough, he can see the faces on the trees]
-- I-Is that a mouth!?
[WHAT THE FRICK]
no subject
[ they probably won't eat them.
still, now that the trees have been injured, mimori will step out from behind the shield and immediately start shooting at the trees before them. she's mostly aiming at the one that have already been hit by elliot, since it'll be easier to take those down. ]
no subject
Yup, that's a mouth.
[The trees are bellowing even louder after the wave of water rushes forth, and Gar pauses long enough to shoot Elliot a thumbs-up. One more smash of a thick branch reaching down to intercept him, and -- the path forward following the leylines is clear.]
Go go go!
no subject
[Once the path is clear, though, she's hurrying in that direction, looking at what's in front of them, and—]
...Cool. It's a lot of roots. [Hm.] Do we tear through them...?
no subject
[About getting eaten by a tree. But when the path is clear, he'll run with the rest of the group. He's getting better at the whole running thing! Though thank god it's not as long a distance as last time.
He'll look at the roots that Natalie points out]
I think so...it looks like it's right on the leyline.
no subject
[ her pistols vanish into the air, and are quickly replaced by a large rifle. mimori backs up a couple of feet so she'll have at least some distance and start just
firing at the knotted roots. ]
no subject
[Gar slips down the path as well, punching the occasional tree with his now shifted-into-gorilla arms. They are in the middle of the grove now - and the trees loom around them concerningly on many sides.
He busies himself by continuing to snap off the encroaching branches and thrown objects whenever he can intercept them.]
If we cut those roots, is it over...?
no subject
I guess we'll find out.
no subject
[He's gonna trust in Mimori's shooting and follow her lead. While Gar handles one side of the grove, Elliot will do what he can to monitor the other. He swings his staff on encroaching branches, letting off a volley of head-sized magic bubbles at the targets. Surprisingly, they actually do some damage and knock some branches back- even if it's not as effective as Gar's gorilla arms.]
