TEAM THREE EVENT LOG
|
READY: START. Roster: Minato Arisato + Lalli Hotakainen, Chuuya Nakahara + Kit Fawkes, Yaboku Tomioka + Yukine Matsuoka, Natalie Goodman + Elliot Craig, Mimori Togo + Garfield Logan, Leo Valdez + Dante Rantanen, Souji Narukami + Mako Lou, Futaba Isshiki + Li-Na Yiu, Felicia Kilmassen + Lillian Aust, Eijirou Kirishima + Ann Takamaki, Derek Matthews + Rindou Kuninaga, Kon Ishida + John Becket, Izuku Midoriya + Ami Aihara, James Barnes + John Egbert, Keith Kogane + Shin Asuka On the morning of the fourth at 9am, you'll find yourself gathering near the edge of the woods. Many of you will find yourself partnered up and with a name in mind, and awaiting in front of you is a fine troop of horses and Chocobos alike. Saddled up and ready to go, these creatures know the way and anxiously wait for their riders even if it looks like some of you may need to share. A text comes through not long after, Zee's name attached. Word of advice: feed them before you try to bring them back. They're touchy, but they're smart. They know the way to go and they'll be waiting to bring you back. Following Zee's advice, you'll find yourself on a ride west of the city, traveling through the woods for about two hours. As you travel, first the forest seems to grow darker but then it's brighter as you go. In a way, it almost feels as though you're shrinking as everything around you encompasses the area, but rest assure you remain the same size you always were. The sounds of woodland creatures and soothing streams echo around you, greeting you as you enter a region known as Bosuma. ![]() Bright, airy and open, Bosuma is a forest domain larger than life. Populated with towering trees and overgrown mushrooms, the forest is home mostly to animals from the sound of it and it’s rarely quiet. Chattering birds and the trickles of rivers make up the soundtrack for this area and it will take quite a while to walk anywhere to find some sort of civilization. Everything seems to be existing in peace and harmony in this section of the world and the scent of wildflowers mists through the trees as you walk through. The forest itself seems endless and it would take multiple trips and multiple attempts at making a map to get an idea of how large the area really is. Hollows and burrows pop up every now and then and several mossy areas appear to be the home for several creatures. The creatures, amazingly enough, aren’t afraid of human life and will even willingly approach anyone who wanders into their woods. Rabbits, raccoons, birds (finches and quails, most likely), squirrels and even deer will walk right up to you to greet you. Fish flow with the rivers and turtles and lizards bask themselves on the riverbanks to catch some of the sun shining down through the leaves above. However, even though it’s harder to find signs of civilization in this region it isn’t outright impossible. Some exploration will reveal cottages peppering the woods but people are still strangely absent in these parts. In fact, the cottages look as though they were vacated quickly and in hasty circumstances. Some homes have clothing strewn on the floor while others have fresh fruit and fish gathered and hunted for families. The animals won’t be able to answer any questions you may have, but after some time it becomes obvious they are prone to following human life. As night falls though the animals begin to taper off. Rabbits dart back to their rabbit holes and deer prance off into the thickets of trees. Owls begin to hoot and other nighttime critters stir. The forest continues to glow at night and the mushrooms provide an eerie almost iridescent appeal to the dark. It’s only in the dark that it becomes a bit more obvious that you haven’t been as alone as you’ve thought. The walls have ears and the trees have eyes, and at the stroke of midnight a swirl of magic flows through the air as several dryads step out from the trees, shyly approaching for a meet and greet. They have placed their trust in you. Try not to let them down, will you? This is the Team Three Event Log! You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log.
Remember, your activity to qualify for your two free memories and one item is supplying at least 30 comments spread over the three objectives per group (minimum of 5 comments per objective!) with at least three members of your groups. You will not be eligible if you do not participate in all three objectives somehow, and you will not be eligible if you only stick with your preferred partner! People who are paired with partners will experience some of the following: -Telepathic connections, but only the thoughts you don’t want your partner to actually hear. You can also use this to influence your partner’s thoughts. -Color fades when you’re not cooperating, it brightens when you are. -Cause and effect. If something happens to your partner, you feel it (i.e. if your partner trips somewhere, you’ll feel the effects.) -Timers. You and your partner will have a countdown embedded somewhere (hand, foot, chest, whatever) and if you don’t complete your missions and see each other before the timer runs out, consequences occur. These are not required and you may play with these as little or as much as you want! Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions, Participation Reporting, NPC questions. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links. You must ICly tap into the log within the first 48 hours, or you will be removed from your team. If your activity is low per objective, the moderators may reach out to you about reassignment as well. The schedule for Team Three is as follows: 3RD: Objective 1 posted (9PM EST) | Threading for Travel to Location | Threading for Objective One | General Network Mingle for Group | General Downtime MingleObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. |

I wonder if all these cottages are abandoned, too...
[Given what the dryads had told them, it's likely that they are. He frowns, that sense of something wrong curling in his stomach, but he doesn't have any time to start thinking about Retrospec and its 50-year history as the husky curves into a left turn away from the cottages.
Left, left, and Dante scowls as she leads them into a third left-hand turn.]
She's leading us in circles.
[Except... she's not?
Why does none of this look familiar?]
no subject
Left, left, left really does take them in circles, and Minato squeezes his eyes shut for a moment to try numbing his pounding head so he can think of what they should do. Regroup, probably, maybe call the dog back. But when he opens his eyes, he finds that he's lagged too much and for too long, and he can't see anybody for the trees in front of him.
"Minato, keep up!" He hears Yukine's voice again, closer than he thought it'd be, but it gets his feet moving— towards the right this time, which is good because it means they've broken out of the circle. But— "Hey, where are you going? " comes Dante's voice from his left, a little further ahead, and Minato freezes in place, uncertainty and doubt taking root again, the anxiety that comes from being completely and utterly lost, agitation and frustration bubbling beneath the surface because he can't do this. He can't keep up, and he feels like he's failing them. Dante would be able to sense this, but Yukine too if he's close enough to feel it off Minato's heart stone.
...But he doesn't have time for self-pity. They don't have time. He can't be a burden, here and now and making them waste time finding him. Minato finds the Evoker on the holster on his belt; unlike last time, there's nobody around to see, so he brings it to his temple without ceremony and summons Horus, the bird taking to the sky like a flare marking his spot. ]

turn around.
left, left, left. turn around. left, left, left.
there seems to be no method to the dog's madness. she just takes the left path at every fork, dashing forward as far as her little feet can take her. it almost feels like there's a hurry, but what's the rush for? or was she just excited? yukine can't tell, but he can't stop himself from wondering either.
all he can do for now is just keep running in hopes that it'll make sense, but his patience is starting to wear thin as they run into another familiar clearing. this can't be right! )
Hey, Dante—
( he starts but his words die in his throat as he glances around and finds no one to be there. he can't see any sign of minato, dante, or the dog and he's immediately worried. he stops right in his tracks, rubbing a hand along the side of his face while he tries to figure out what to do.
fuck. he should have gotten their phone numbers.
then he hears minato's voice from his left: "yukine! where are you?" immediately he's twisting on his heel to face the direction of the voice. there's no one there. )
Heyyyy!! Dante! Minato! Where are you guys?
( too bad he's not close enough to feel the feeling resonate from minato's heart stone. )
no subject
"Minato! Where'd you go?!"]
Shit.
[It's muttered, under his breath, with a roll of the eyes. He should've seen this coming, really. It's the standard sot of bullshit that seems to pop up when Retrospec is involved...
"Dante! Come on!"]
I'm over here with the dog!
[Except... when he looks back, the dog is gone and he's alone. Shit indeed. And before he can begin to pinpoint where Minato is, focusing on that darkness he felt emanating from him, he hears a scream.
His voice. Screaming.
He forces back his immediate first thoughts, the memories of the last time he'd screamed like that, shaking his head and forcing himself into action.]
It's a trick! Don't listen to it!
no subject
He hangs onto Horus' back as he flies, trusting the Persona's eagle eyes to spot the tiniest movement in the trees— small creatures, gnomes that borrow their voices and without anybody to watch him, Minato doesn't hesitate to rain light magic down from the sky.
From down amongst the trees, Minato's voice comes again: "Hey, guys, we need to—" and it's cut off with a dying scream, RIP gnome. Every time a fake Minato voice calls out again, it gets snuffed out before a whole sentence can get out. Which. Might sound like somebody is attacking the real Minato, but that doesn't matter and it's less voices to confuse them.
He does keep an eye out for actual humans, though, ignoring the voices and trying to find Yukine and Dante, only calling to them from above if he can see them below. ]
no subject
regardless, the important thing is that he hears dante scream. then a claim of it being a trick immediately afterwards, but if anything felt like a trick it would be someone disproving the danger! the sound of minato's screaming follows near immediately afterwards, backing up yukine's initial hyponosis.
they are not safe.
yanking his baseball bat out from his backpack, he takes to swinging it wildly at the bushes. )
Dante—! Minato—! I'm coming! Just hold on! I'm coming!
( the bushes rustle loudly as yukine swings his bat.
that's when he hears it, the sound of his own voice screaming and crying for help. )
That's not me! I'm okay!
( what the fuck! what kind of asshole creature would do that? does that mean that everyone else might be okay too? he honestly really hopes that's he case because he's terrified of what he'd do if they were both injured. he couldn't feasibly carry both of them!
he swings his bat again in frustration, just hoping to make some kind of progress, and it collides with something solid. whatever he hits lets loose a blood-curdling scream that sounds a lot like dante's voice. yukine rushes into the bushes immediately, advancing on whatever it is, and he finds it to be. . . a gnome? )
Make them stop!
( he yells, jamming the edge of his baseball bat against its neck. )
no subject
What the hell do you think you're doing?
[But the only response he gets is a blown raspberry, the gnome jumping away from him and scampering through the tangle of branches above.]
I don't think we're gonna be able to stop them. We need to find each other so they can't keep tricking us like this!
[Unfortunately, that's the trouble with intelligent "enemies." As soon as he says this, the gnomes change tactics--"All right! I'm over here!" cries Yukine's voice, while Minato's comes at him from another direction: "Sounds good." He scowls in irritation, hearing his own voice coming from multiple directions as it tries to convince the other two to follow him.]
Look for something glowing and come towards it!
[It's the best thing he can think of right now, given that he can't really do any of the magic his other self might ave used. Dante backs up toward one of the trees nearby, kicking off of it and launching into a slide toward one of the other trees, an aura of glowing pink/purple surrounding his body as he rides the wave of energy until he reaches and kicks off of the next. If either of the others can see it through the trees, maybe it can help?
And he won't quit looking for them, either.]
no subject
Even if it's a fake Dante speaking, the Persona Minato has out right now also counts as "something glowing," so they could use the shining bird as a beacon to gather, hopefully before one of them falls into a trap.
He'll just have to trust that the other two believe in those words. ]
no subject
the voices keep coming, urging him to go one way or another, but the only one that seems to deviate from the others is the call of "look for something glowing".
in hopes of reaching the real dante, yukine yanks his flashlight out from his backpack and flicks its light rapidly towards the trees and then towards the canopy just in case it might get anyone's attention. it's in the process of this that he finally sees minato, flying above with his persona.
immediately, he's flickering the flashlight towards him in hopes of catching his attention. )
Minatooo!!
no subject
It isn't anywhere around him and Dante finally looks up, finding Minato's presence almost immediately and changing the motion of his strange magic parkour to angle up and into the trees. It's tougher here with all the branches, so as Dante bursts out of the canopy it's with a number of scratches littering his face and arms, most superficial but some bloodied--but he's out, and he can see Minato atop some sort of bright bird that makes him wonder how he'd ever missed him.]
Gotcha!
Now we just need to find Yukine.
[And he needs to find some sort of way to stay aloft. Flowmotion is great for getting places but not so much for hovering... and as he turns his eyes back to the trees, Dante's starting to slowly descend toward them, frowning intently as he tries to scan for their remaining partner before he breaks the canopy again.]
no subject
He keeps hearing his name being called, but if he keeps Dante in sight, he can ignore all the Dante voices and focus on the ones that sound like Yukine. Voice to his right, voice to his left. Good thing he can do this— Minato reaches to tap Dante on the shoulder to get his attention, canting his head over to the right: "We'll check this way," while he gets off Horus and sends the Persona to the left.
Whichever party Yukine meets up with- Minato and Dante, or the Persona- Minato will know. ]
no subject
all he knows for sure is that moving too far would be a bad idea. they have to be looking for him, right? fuck, he really hopes they wouldn't just cut their losses and leave him. he's not sure how he'd handle that.
then he has another item. using the baseball bat, he swings it against some of the smaller trees to get them to rustle. )
「 Heyyy! I'm over here! Hitting the trees! 」
( he shouts in japanese, just hoping to sound different enough to catch someone's attention.
it doesn't really seem to work, so he turns around to try to figure something else out and comes face to face with minato's persona. he nearly jumps out of his skin in surprise, hand clutching at his chest.
man, that thing is quiet. )
Aaah—! Oh! I wasn't ready for that.
( but he approaches it quickly, gently patting the bird's neck. )
Will you save me?
no subject
At the other end of the path, Minato slows and stops, again reaching out to get Dante's attention instead of getting lost like he had last time. ]
Horus has him. We need to head back.
[ A straight path between the two- if they don't deviate from the paths, they should come right together. ]
no subject
Right. We'll stick together this time.
[He won't rely on a passive recognition of Minato's heart keep track of him this time.
But speaking of hearts...]
That bird you summoned... it's a persona, right? Like Souji has.
It shines pretty brightly.
no subject
It's... yeah.
[ In the end, Minato just answers the question, and lets his "yeah" acknowledge the rest without commenting on it. He knows the brightness isn't like him, but it's useful and that utility is all he cares about, keeping his gaze flitting back and forth between Dante beside him and the trees straight up ahead until he finally sees the light shining past the trunks, and Yukine's form illuminated from above. ]
no subject
his face lights up as soon as he sees them, incredibly relieved to see that they're mostly unharmed—what in the world was dante doing?—and back together in one place. )
Are you guys okay? Where's the dog?
no subject
I don't know where the dog is. She disappea--
[Bark, bark!
There's the sound of the dog, at least... but is it actually the dog? Or is it another of the gnomes? Dante glances at the other two, lifting an eyebrow.]
Think we should follow it? It doesn't sound like it's that far...
no subject
Can't hurt to check. If it's one of those gnomes, it'll have to deal with all three of us.
no subject
( and the best news of all is that the most important person, the dog, was safe and sound. at least from the sound of it. there was the slight risk that it might be a trick from the gnomes trying to swap up their tactics now that everyone was back together again, but yukine is so sick of it by this point that he's pretty sure he'd fling them into the ocean in his rage. )
Hopefully they're not so stupid.
( but he nods and falls into step with minato. they gotta keep moving. )
no subject
[But it seems like if the gnomes can mimic dog barks, they aren't doing so today. When they find their guide she's sitting calmly as though she's been waiting for them, tail wagging as she sees them approaching. However, that's not what's catching Dante's eye...]
Whoa. Are you guys seeing what I'm seeing?
[Are those mushrooms... glowing?]
no subject
Yukine. Do you have rope in your bag?
[ The one person who came prepared for anything. But as he turns to look at Yukine, he catches what Dante sees too, staring out at the field of glowing mushroom. And that's not all— they're crawling with... little black fuzzy things, he can't see very well what they are, but he'd rather leave them alone in case they bite.
Ignore it. ]
That's— hey, stop. [ The dog ignores him, pulling towards the mushroom field, and he has to hold her back. No... He doesn't want to go in there. ] Let's get a leash on her first. Then... I dunno. Fly over this thing.
no subject
he's so consumed in looking at them that he almost misses the question directed at him. )
Huh? Oh! Uh, yea. I brought a decent amount of rope with me.
( already, he's swinging his backpack off his shoulder so he can retrieve the rope and offer it to minato. )
Do you think it could be that easy?
no subject
If we have to, I can probably get across on my own. Those shadows don't look that bad.
[It'll take energy and time, using his flowmotion to cross the uneven terrain, but it's doable for sure!]
no subject
[ They don't have to. Minato takes his Evoker from his holster— there's never a good way to do this, and he wishes he didn't have to around others, but— and taps the barrel of it against the side of his head like he's thinking of what to do. It's just an excuse, and he uses that same motion to dispel the bird and pull the trigger to summon another Persona: Seiryuu. ]
We can on this, though. Someone's just got to hang onto the dog.
[ Hug her close so she can't fall. ]
