WHAT: New Year's not!date, viewing the full moon one last time before darkness swallows the world

[ Minato makes sure to be there at the planetarium half an hour before five, pacing back and forth in front of the building in order to keep warm. He's not the one with the tickets, so that leaves him to look out for either a prosthetic arm, a cute dog, and/or what he told Zack were the most gorgeous eyes in the world if he hadn't spent most of that encounter staring up at the ceiling or down at the floor. Either way, the sun is setting and will soon take its warmth with it, so Minato huddles in on himself, clamping a paper shopping bag in between his arm and side, and prays Natalia remembered to bring Porsche. Also that she remembered to come. ]

A dog and other odd creatures. One of them looked like a kangoroo with an ape head.

[compendiem]

[ That he has trouble imagining, and has to open his eyes and look at her to see whether she's pulling his leg. ]

...Could the kangaroo also talk?

[nachetanya]

I don't know.

[ she answers sincerely, and he eyes seem to be a little tight as she processes through what those creatures looked like. ]

... Also a long haired ape-like one. And a centipede the size of a car?

[compendiem]

This is edging towards the stuff of nightmares now...

[nachetanya]

It does sound a little like that, doesn't it?

[ And yet, she knows that she, at the time, was filled with nothing but a grateful shame to want to see them but know she... failed at something? ]

[compendiem]

[ Bugs larger than the size of your hand counts as nightmares, yeah. Rather than animals, they sound like monsters to him... He's not intrinsically scared of them, even without seeing them, but he still has to remind himself that the dogs welcomed her, that they're not all bad. ]

...It's hard for me to imagine. I wish there were a way to see what you saw. Even though they're private memories.

[nachetanya]

[ She lowers her gaze down to Porsche. The fact of the matter is that Natalia doesn't entirely disagree, but she also loves all living things, and has applied this as best she can to her memories now. and honestly, with that one she just lied about, it's easy to. But there are others which make it complicated. She's killed some of those same... monsters? Are they even monsters?

But she shakes her head. ]

Then why don't you share your own?

[ Because that wasn't nodding off. ]

[compendiem]

Mm... [ His isn't weird in the sense of monsters, but weird in the sense of atmosphere. Eerie, oppressive, draining on the soul for every second longer he had to be in that place, but these aren't feelings he can easily put into words. ]

It was just me looking up at the moon. Everything was black and green outside... it looked gigantic. [ It looked evil. ] A group of us were just talking about it, I guess. One said that the phases of the moon affects both shadows and humans.

[nachetanya]

You don't mean normal shadows, do you?

[ Because while that is true, the context seems a little different, doesn't it? She looks up at the stars again, petting her dog gently with her right (bio) hand. ]

[compendiem]

Probably not, since he was talking about some sort of research determining the relationship between the moon phases and shadows, but...

[ Minato shrugs. It's the first time he's heard of the term, hinted to mean something different from normal shadows. But it was just that brief mention, as if everybody else in the room understood what it meant. ]

[nachetanya]

So does that mean you're dealing with moon rabbits as shadows?

[compendiem]

Mm. It's possible. [ Just like anything is possible, even if the possibility is low. ]

The moon was full and the rabbit was still there... The rest of the world looked distorted though.

[nachetanya]

Distorted how?

[ The world looks distorted? She thinks about the air in that place she arrived with Dozzu. About that little girl vomiting up that other monster and she mutters under her breath, ]

Slugs too, actually.

[compendiem]

Sort of like when you're really tired, and everything wavers and blurs. There was blood everywhere... No slugs, though.

[nachetanya]

No, no, there were giant slugs too. And a metallic looking snake I think?

[ She shakes her head. ]

... Blood everywhere. That's - alarming.

[compendiem]

Oh. In your dream? I think it was a bull that I saw. With chains on its wrists.

[ He lifts his hands up and rotates both his wrists demonstratively. Well, it's a bull that stood on its hind legs and is actually a minotaur, but it's close enough to give her a visual. ]

For me... The creatures in that place weren't friendly. Certainly didn't talk, or welcomed us.

[nachetanya]

... I loved Dozzu. [ She mutters that. And the others, they were... her... allies? friends? No, that doesn't seem right. Brothers in arms, maybe? ]

[compendiem]

...Do you want to talk about Dozzu?

[nachetanya]

I don't really know much about them! He's a small dog with a dignified voice... or maybe a little more like a dog-squirrel? His tail is squirrel-like.

[ SHRUG!! ]

I'm sorry you weren't welcome under the moon.

[compendiem]

[ Small dogs with curly, poofy tails... The image is cute, even without knowing anything about them. ]

It's fine. I like the moon, even if it turns out to be evil in the end.

[nachetanya]

The moon being the alien base who'll poke and prod you doesn't make you turn on it?

[compendiem]

The... The moon is innocent. It's the aliens inside it that I'd have to deal with.

[nachetanya]

Oh wow, your love is really deep!

[ Being sarcastic, this is apparently how we survive ]

[compendiem]

That's right. I'll stand by the moon no matter what.

[ Not being sarcastic. ]

Oh no, but what about if it has a robot inside of it? Will you adapt?
