when the day met the night.

Welcome to a day of celebration, merriment, and way too much blue.
i. before the ceremony.
[The preparations begin early, with both grooms spending a bit of time helping with the last minute stuff behind the scenes. In lieu of a traditional chapel, they use the temple as a sort of neutral ground. It's decorated in shades of white and blue, white tapestries and blue carpets and ribbons, with hints of light blue scattered throughout as well as gold accents. The entire venue looks very soft, and the chairs are arranged in neat rows for the ceremony. Soft classical music plays as people walk in and sit down, provided by the very talented live band in the corner.
For those who know Sorey and Mikleo, this has been a long time coming. They've been attached at the hip since they were only a handful of years old, and the turbulence in Recollé has only strengthened their feelings for each other. Some people attending know them through their work at Club Sunshine or elsewhere, and some know Sorey through his work as a tutor and teacher. Some people might barely know them at all, but the air is nonetheless celebratory and welcoming to just about anyone who wants food and doesn't mind giving well-wishes to a new couple.
Any wedding gifts are left on a big table with flowers, and anyone who wants a corsage is encouraged to take one. Another table holds a big guest book decorated in ombre blue and gold. Sign your name!
Curiously, there is also a shrine set up instead of a podium. There are various small bowls with offerings of rice and incense, as well as some empty ones. A small lucky cat sits atop the shrine as well as several 'elements' in pretty glass bowls: a pearl in water, a perfect quartz crystal, a downy feather, and a sweet-smelling lit candle.
Sorey waits to greet people who walk in, dressed in a mostly-white suit with blue lapels and gold thread. As it gets closer to time, however, he moves to the front of the room to speak to the officiant and the best people (Prompto and Minako, of course), and endure last-minute fretting by his mother (who is sitting in the front row). Sorey looks nervous but anyone catching his eyes will earn a smile and a hearty hello.

ii. walking down the aisle.
[The beginning of the wedding march begins to play, and a hush overcomes the crowd. Everyone is encouraged to sit down, and all eyes turn toward the back of the room.
Mikleo steps out wearing a dark blue princely suit in a similar style to Sorey's, but with a few more feminine flourishes. Anemones have been braided into silvery waves and drawn into an elaborate updo that still allows all of those curls to flow down his shoulders. His face is halfway-obscured by a gossamer veil, matching the blue ribbon and tulle wrapped about the bridal bouquet. He walks slowly, but with purpose, stepping beneath the roses arching over the aisle.
The music grows somehow quieter in that moment, and it's just quiet enough that Sorey can be heard wailing. He covers his mouth but it's too late-- it's pretty damn obvious to everyone gathered that he's sobbing.
Mikleo picks up the pace a little when he hears that. He reaches Sorey and the officiant and immediately whips out a handkerchief to dab at Sorey's tears.
The brunet mutters an apology.] Y-you're just so beautiful, I can't help it.
[Mikleo takes his place and nudges Sorey to turn around, trying to hide his own tears.] Honestly. You're going to make me cry, too.
[The ceremony goes on. It's a balanced blend of the familiar ceremony people are expecting as well as another curious addition before the vows. The priest pours sake into a small cup, which Sorey sips from and then gives to Mikleo. Then sake is poured into a different cup and given to Mikleo instead, who sips from it and offers it to Sorey. Then a third larger cup is poured, and the sake shared again. The officiant asks outright for the blessing of the spirits. Both grooms take a moment of silence to offer their prayers at the shrine, and then it's on to the wedding vows.
Sorey takes Mikleo's hands delicately as the officiant reads, his gaze moving from pale fingers to the purple eyes behind the veil. His puppy look is real and disgustingly saccharine. Mikleo's eyes dance with amusement and happiness as he gives those hands a squeeze.
The brunet offers Mikleo his ring first: a gold wedding band that fits snugly against the emerald ring he was given months ago. His fingers quiver slightly as he slides it on, but he manages not to drop it.]
I give you this ring as a sign of my vow. I pledge to love you and to keep you, in this life and the next.
[Mikleo offers Sorey's band, matching emerald and gold in a delicate pattern with feathery flourishes. Smoothly, he repeats:]
I give you this ring as a sign of my vow. I pledge to love you and to keep you, in this life and the next.
[The officiant goes on for a little while longer, gently lecturing on the importance of mutual respect and unconditional love. And then, at last, he calls for the couple to kiss.
Sorey reaches out with trembling fingers to lift Mikleo's veil and tug it back. He leans in carefully as Mikleo's hand wraps around his wrist-- and then Mikleo yanks Sorey close enough to knock him off balance, dipping him into a kiss before the audience. Sorey flails a bit but he accepts his fate. It's not the first time Mikleo's surprised him and it probably won't be the last... At least they're not falling down a hole somewhere.
And then it's over. Time for some photos!]

iii. the reception.
[The guests are shown into the reception which is decorated much in the same way as the ceremony hall. Fancy plates, blue and gold everything, two dozen round tables with bubbles and candy for everyone.
A large area before the stage has been converted into a dance floor. On the stage, the band is given a few minutes to prepare, but thankfully they've hired a wonderful DJ to fill in the gaps. The music played during the reception is definitely more modern but there's some nice classics in there too. More importantly, having a DJ allows the actual live musicians to get in a bite or two.
And the food. Taste may not be back completely just yet, but it hasn't stopped catering from going all out. The cuisine is a lovely mixture of hearty Irish cuisine and Japanese fusion, with twists on quite a few of the dishes. The star of the show is slow-cooked curry made with Guinness, but there's okonomiyaki, various kinds of sushi, miso soup, freshly served ramen with all the fixings, teriyaki tofu and chicken, pork katsu, lamb and potato stew, potato pancake, spit-roasted poultry and lamb, shepherd's pie, various kinds of berries and fruit, and colcannon with ginger.
On the sweeter side there is a gigantic watercolor cake and at least five different kinds of ice cream, though the tastiness of sweets is currently up for debate.
On the opposite side of the room from the band, a full bar has been set up. There are stools for people to sit on and someone mixing drinks. People will be carded and then given a bracelet so they can just get refills without worrying about it. There's plenty to drink, too-- wine of all colors and champagne, mixed cocktails, the harder stuff, Irish stouts and mead, hot toddies, and even sake.
With the cake cut and the toast done, the roasting begins. As expected, Sorey and Mikleo's mothers take turns telling embarrassing stories about the couple, which has Sorey hiding his head in his hands with how embarrassed he is. There's time for their closest friends to talk shit about them if they so choose.
Sorey and Mikleo take the first dance, but it isn't long before they gesture for everyone else to join them.]

iv. closing time.
[After the festivities wind down a bit, Sorey thanks everyone again and reminds them to sign the guestbook if they haven't already. Mikleo also encourages their guests to take leftovers, because there's way too much food! They wish the guests a happy new year as well.
When they're done, Sorey takes Mikleo's hand and leads him outside. It isn't a horse-drawn carriage or anything, but the fairly new used car they've financed is close enough. He lets Mikleo into the passenger side first and then hops in himself. With a wave, they drive towards home, and then it's time for the crowd to disperse.
There's no honeymoon in the future, but that's only because there isn't a giant underground temple beneath Recollé. ... That they know of.]

[ he laughs a little with fondness— elliot really likes john and dave just as much as he did. he can see the enthusiasm light up his face already. ]
I want to see his face when you tell him.

I'll try to tell him soon then. I was actually a little curious if it was really obvious to people already considering...[Considering how he and Dave are. All the time. Always.]

I didn’t notice someone liked me for four years. I’m probably not the best person to tell you that, but . . .
[ he gives a half shrug. ]
I wondered for a little. Dave’s hard to read sometimes, but— you know when something just feels different?
[ eren doesn’t even know, man. “gut feelings”. that’s all he relies on. ]

Somehow you have pretty decent instincts for stuff though. It's pretty obvious to people you talk to. But I guess I shouldn't really worry much since that part's over and we're dating.
[...] But I still have no idea how you didn't notice for four years. Anyone who looks can pretty much tell how much Elliot likes you.

—I didn’t think anyone would like me like that. And I thought I wouldn’t, either, so. My focus was all on Air Force for years. [ he was an oddball and an outcast, honing so much on air force air force air force that he didn’t give himself time to dwell on any of those things. ] Might sound corny, but I think my heart knew a lot earlier than I did.

Work means a lot, but . . . I know it’s not everything, now. It’s hard to find the balance sometimes, but it’s even better when you do.

[ eren’s . . . the one who helped him say no to military to start, and he could never be happier to have been there to snap him out of it. but as some music starts to pick up, he returns john’s elbow with another. ]
How’d you think Dave would react to a dance?
[ maybe start breakdancing instead of actual dancing. that’s your boyfriend now, john. ]

[ SAYS THE GUY WHO HAS YET TO TAKE THAT VIOLINIST ONTO THE DANCE FLOOR. ]
But I’m gonna keep an eye out. Planning on giving it a shot myself.

You ever danced before? With or without a partner.

Once or twice maybe? Vic was never really into that kind of stuff and we went to some dances together and stuff in high school but it was more because everyone else went and not the actual dancing part. I'm learning...[He ducks his head then.] But I guess I was teaching myself for a little bit before Christmas as part of Dave's present.
