OPEN POST ♞ THE MONSTER MASH

WHAT: Spider wallets, running away from luchador murderers, and creepy ghost stalkers
WARNINGS: None asides from Naegi screaming in most of these threads??

ONE

This nightmare starts off in a mostly-empty apartment. Asides from a very nice looking oak table with equally nice matching chairs, there's... not much else here. There's a random bean-bag in the middle of the living room and... yeah, that's it. This place is as empty as you can get so when there's a lone brown wallet sitting on the floor, it's pretty noticeable.

When looking at it from a distance, it seems to do nothing at all, just sitting there like a normal wallet. However, when it is approached, it suddenly stands up and reveals its super gross and long spider legs. Right at that point, one of the bedroom doors slams open and Naegi appears, looking dishevelled and tired. He then points dramatically at the wallet.

"Grab that wallet!!"

And with that, the wallet lets out an audible ! sound before scurrying away on its gross spider legs. It will run from one corner of the apartment to another. Do you chase after it? Do you step on it? What do you do???

TWO

The next nightmare takes place in a dim and eerie school hallway. There's absolutely no one in sight and there's a loud stomping sound, similar to the sound of heavy footsteps. It starts off slow at first but then it increases in speed, getting closer and closer. The source of the footsteps seem to just be beyond that corner and oh god it's--

"W-Whoa--!!"

--haha, jokes, it's just Naegi. However, with how quickly he was running and turning, he probably comes crashing into whoever had the misfortune of standing around the corner.

Have fun crashing to the floor.

THREE

In the fog, there can be a lot of dangerous and unusual things. For Naegi, he's been mostly suffering from the unusual part.

For the past couple of days whenever he stepped out of the house, Naegi has been having a creepy dead stalker (complete with a knife in the abdomen and all) silently following him from place to place. She hasn't been doing... anything in particular but just trailing behind him at a distance. He's tried to speak to her, even tried to get her help, but nothing. She refuses to speak and she seems content to just accompany him like some sort of lost puppy rather than attacking him like 99% of all the other creepy Japanese horror ghosts. He's quite unsettled by this, of course, but what... can he really do...

So, when he approaches someone to ask for directions, he just tries to be as chill as possible.

"... do you know which way is to Birch Hills?"

... just trying to pretend that there isn't some dead girl just a few steps behind him. It's all good..............................................

[ It starts off like any other day. While Daisuke in his room, Naegi is out in the living room and chilling. It's quiet and nothing seems out of place. Well, that is until an alarmingly amount of smoke starts to creep underneath Daisuke's door... ]

[ Should he look outside, he'd come face-to-face with a bunch of smoke and fire absolutely everywhere (strangely enough, no fire alarms go off). Through the sounds of the flames, a loud wail can be heard. ]

"Why?? Why meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee??"

[ what... what is going on.................. ]

[ Indeed. Just what in the world is going on here--there's fire. Fire everywhere. Holy shit. His suspicions rise when the smoke detectors haven't gone off and if they were low in battery, they would have been annoyingly loud before...

Anyway, he's concerned about Naegi. ]

Makoto?! Where are you?!

[ in nightmares, there is no such thing as fire safety. instead, you just have to deal with fire that seems almost cartoonish ]

Daisuke! Go out! Out the front door!

[ naegi's voice comes from the far corner of the living room but he's just barely visible with the high flames and all the smoke. before daisuke can even move though, something will grab onto the corner of daisuke's shirt. ]

"Daisuke, save me toooooooooo!"

[ it's.......... the dining table that grabs hold of his shirt with one of its wooden leg that suddenly grew a hand. if you didn't think this was a weird ass dream before then yeah ]

[ IT'S THEIR PRECIOUS TABLE... Daisuke is starting to think this is even weirder than his electric bill nightmare, but at this rate, he's going to be roasted alive by cartoonish fires.

If only you were a smaller table, my dear. ]

S-Sorry, I have to go!

[ THE OAK HAND IS CREEPY ;A; ]

[ the oak hand may be creepy but it is ALSO STRONG AND WILL REFUSE TO LET GO ]

"Noooooo!! I thought you loved meeeeeeeeeee?!"

[ it's like a wailing ex... but asides from that, naegi doesn't really know what's going on but he can see that daisuke is still there for some reason? and not escaping?? ]

Daisuke, what are you doing?! You gotta go!

Uh-- The table won't let me go...

[ Holy shit. He never understood the meaning of clingy exes, but he sure as hell does now. Daisuke tries to escape from this... such a strong oak hand (why), but is failing. ]

You go ahead! I'll be out in a second!

[ naegi can't just leave his bro behind. that's going against his protag rules so he will somehow make his way back. he's taken off his hoodie to hold in front of his mouth and nose like a makeshift mask but when he gets back... he's greeted by this sight of the table gripping onto daisuke ]

[ um ]

Wh-- What's going on here?!

[ coming back might have been a mistake... because now that he's here, the table uses its other front leg to grip onto naegi's shirt as well. it's... a disaster ]

"Save me toooooooo!! Don't be heartless monsterssssss!!"

[ Oh no. Naegi is here too, which means he's also trapped by the table. Daisuke needs to think... ]

Makoto, let's just... take the table with us. It's the fastest way. It's not that heavy, remember?

R-Right!

[ that honestly seems the best way to do it so naegi will grab onto the table so they can drag it out but as soon as they can try to move... the beanbag wraps itself around daisuke's leg and one of the wooden chairs grabs on both of them ]

"Us ToO! DoN'T LeAvE Us behINd AS wELL!!"

[ . . .

Daisuke feels so exasperated by how clingy these furniture are. ]

If you guys have hands and legs, why don't you move yourselves?!

[ well, she isn't who he's approaching, probably - kyouko knows her way around enough and might have gotten a more specific response, but when she sees the masked woman out of the corner of her eye she tenses in a way that is almost like jolting for her.

she knows that figure, so she stares and steps closer, uncertain, before she spots naegi. ]

- N - Makoto. [ not naegi-kun, even if the figure reminds her of how she "used" to call him. ] Are you all right...?

Kyouko?

[ naegi turns and-- just how long was kyouko there? this fog is so thick that he can barely tell who's around him ]

Yeah, I am. How about you? Have you ran into any...?

[ he trails off but it's clear that he's trying to reference all the strange things in the fog ]

I've repeatedly run into the Headmaster.

[ IT'S...annoying as fuck, apparently, from her tone. she doesn't sound concerned, exactly. ]

...Luckily, it's easy to trick that thing into blowing up and leaving me alone for a while.

[ it takes him a second but then he realizes who she's referring to ]

You mean Monokuma? He can... blow up?

[ ...oh. ]

I didn't mention that...? My mistake. But yes, he can. If violence is enacted against him, usually. I remembered it a while ago, but I suppose I never got around to bringing it up. It wasn't really relevant until he started stalking me in the fog.

[ she looks okay but he has to ask ]

No, I'm fine. It wasn't that hard to devise strategies to get it to explode away from me...in one case, I used it to take out someone else's "fear".

...That said, the figure following you truly hasn't attacked you?

[ honestly, the two of them probably should have died from smoke inhalation by this point but it's a nightmare so who cares about the details. they can just deal with all their furniture clinging onto them and the fire burning around them ]

[ and with that, the other chairs start to appear then the desks from their rooms... it's becoming a real beauty and the beast scenario with all this living furniture. even the culinary comes jump by... ]

Daisuke, we-- we don't have time!

[ do they attempt to drag their entire home out (haha nah naegi's not strong enough for this), burn to death, or try to cut them and kick them off?? ]

[ kyouko kirigiri is so fucking hardcore..................... but naegi looks back, trying to see if he can spot sayaka "i'm so dead" maizono and he does see her, though barely with the fog and how far off she is. she's peering behind a telephone pole like this tbh ]

[ he looks back at her and shakes his head ]

No, not yet, at least... [ he hopes she wouldn't but he has to be careful... ] I don't know what she wants. I wanted to approach her but I don't know if that's a good idea right now...

[ It's one thing to be restricted of movement by furniture limbs, but to have them comment on his legs is so... awkward......... naegi, why are their furniture like this. He's already trying to get free again because he's already ditched the idea of taking them out. ]

[ and this is where kyouko was right. naegi is definitely the stabbable type and he shouldn't have gotten close to a girl who has a knife in her stomach. the moment he approaches and tries to talk to her, she grabs the knife and tries to use it against him. it's great ]

WITH THE STABBABILITY. immediately kirigiri has to run over in her stupid heels, reaching out to drag him back. she also, like, has a pocketknife in her purse, and mace. she grabs for the mace first, honestly, although who knows if it will work on fog apparitions. ]

[ IT'S NOT HIS FAULT IF HE'S A WALKING, TALKING STABBING-DOLL!! naegi just barely misses the knife as kyouko pulls him back. the mace seems to work as maizono pulls back, silently covering her face ]

L-Let's go, Kyouko!

[ he probably doesn't need to say anything for them to start running but the mace doesn't seem to affect an already dead girl for long. as soon as they turn to get away, they'll see that she's right on their heels. can they outrun a ghost?? ]

- We may need to find my apparition!

[ look. exploding byakuya's nightmare stalker worked? but she's keeping a grip on naegi's arm to drag him along as they run, because she does not trust him not to trip and get stabbed, more, ]

[ naegi isn't going to look at their furniture the same way again and daisuke has made the right choice trying to kicking one of them off because naegi starts doing the same. he starts prying off the hands of everything and attempting to throw all the tiny bits of furniture and utensils away. however... this seems to only anger everyone ]

"bEar piLe on THE TRAitoRs!!"

[ did daisuke ever want to know what it's like to be flattened by an oak table and then stabbed by forks and knives? because that's literally what's going to happen now ]

[ she's absolutely right... she shouldn't let go of him because he'd probably just let himself get stabbed like the stabble person that he is. asides from that, she doesn't need to explain what her apparition is. he gets that pretty quickly ]

[ but trying to find a tiny robot bear in the fog is not an easy task. just how on earth can they find it...? naegi thinks that maybe calling out for it might work ]

[ A GOOD PLAN, BUT she modifies it: ]

- We have a question about the school rules! It's related to a murder...

[ may as well bluff her apparition out of the fog. rules, she think, matter...

and there's that distinctive laugh of upupupu. ]

[ Holy shit. Everything hurts all of a sudden. It was one thing to get flattened by a huge table, but being stabbed repeatedly with forks and knives really hurts. It feels like he's dying.

Or maybe... he's already dying...? ~~cant believe he's already gonna die and it's not even that far in~~ ]

[ "related to a murder" suddenly makes naegi feel nauseous, just thinking that in their other lives, they had to deal with being in not one but two mutual killing games and that people have actually murdered each other... it's still hard to swallow and accept and when hears that familiar upupupu, a cold shiver runs through his body ]

[ he doesn't say anything just yet, not until monokuma makes his appearance. plus, he's still trying to figure out how to get the bear close enough to the murderous dead girl and to explode them both so he's trying to rack his brain for that... ]

[ there's that BOING sound when monokuma pops up. you know the one. cue soundtrack?!

kyouko speaks quietly to naegi. ]

We're going to use you as bait. We just need to get her to attack him by accident.

[ i can't believe that kyouko kirigiri is already using makoto naegi as bait. naegi deserves better than this. he wants to go to another au where he doesn't know kirigiri ]
