[The night had come, and Yukiko was ready for the Best Holiday. The entire apartment was decked out in her Halloween best. Candles all around the room, with fake spider-webs and stick on ghosts adorning the windows and walls. Food was set on tables, some of it themed for the season. Peeled grape "eyeballs" and cookie sandwiches, pumpkin cakes, and pudding cups sit alongside pizza and the usual party food like chips and dip. Only some of it had turned out poorly, thankfully, and that had been easy to identify once Yukiko had gotten back into a cooking groove.

Just as important, though, was the selection of movies. Horror was Yukiko's thing, and she had a wide range of movies from the classics like Friday the 13th and Hellraiser to some foreign things like The Wailing and Train to Busan. She even has the Addams Clan Values set out if anyone wants a breather.

Answering the door in her new Retrospec gifted outfit, she beams at whoever shows.]

Food and Drink

[If you're hungry, dig in here. Yukiko's got a pretty nice pile of stuff all spread out for her friends. Nothing spiked or anything, thank goodness, and through a lot of effort what she has actually cooked is completely okay.

[If she had poorer manners, Sakura would likely demolish this entire snack table, but eventually she settles on stuffing her face with pumpkin cakes and cookie sandwiches. God bless sweets.

As for the pizza, it gets a dubious look at first. She's never had the American version! Japanese pizza is a Thing in and of itself, and so it's with some uncertainty she nibbles on a plain slice of cheese before her eyes brighten in surprise.]

Oh... it has a lot of cheese on it.

[Impressive observation, honey.]

[Yukiko happens to be nearby, and she tilts her head curiously at the statement. And Sakura's surprise.]

...Yes, that's what pizza has?

[It's been a long, long time since she had Japanese Pizza. And she's Americanized enough that she'd probably call it an aberration.]

I'm still used to the Japanese kind, with mayo and... well, it has a lot of things on it.

[A lot of things that are not This, but not in a bad way. Sakura nibbles on another bite and is finding she likes the taste]

Oh? I didn't have the Japanese kind when I was living there. But honestly I don't remember it much. I remember that there was mayo on everything and I still can't quite accept that.

Do you...not like cheese on it though?

Oh no, I love cheese!

[She does! And to prove it, takes a much bigger bite this time.]

It's just that I forget I can have a lot of it here, since... yeah. I'm guilty of the mayo thing. Or at least the spicy kind.

[In her defense, it's the good stuff. None of that Americanized nonsense ya'll eat.]

[Eleanor could not comprehend not liking cheese, but she knew other people didn't...for one insane reason or another. She pointed to the far side of the table.]

Yukiko made some salad, that doesn't have cheese in it.

[She hopes anyway.]

Oh no, that's not it.

[Having never met Eleanor before, Sakura's reaction is a little subdued. Still, she smiles reflexively before continuing]

It's tasty! But I haven't had pizza quite like this before.

[Japan has pizza and American fast food chains, but they get weird about their tastes. Because Japan]

[Not knowing each other is hardly going to stop Eleanor.]

I'm not sure I've ever had pizza without cheese. Where...?

Japan! We have a bad habit of putting mayo everywhere instead of cheese. You should see what passes as "pizza" in the city I'm from.

Hanging Out

[Either before or after the movies, this is for general talking and getting to know one another since not everyone does, except Yukiko!]

[After watching Train to Busan, Fuuka wasn't expecting a film quite like that. While she had known that movie was pretty popular, she didn't realize just how different a movie it was compared to most horror genres.

So don't mind Fuuka deep in thought and trying to analyze everything as she stares at the cover of the dvd box]

[Yukiko sidles on up and flumps down on the couch beside Fuuka. Surprise, have an arm around your shoulder, short one.]

Did you like it?

[For a moment, Fuuka was rather surprised by that action. Although, the moment that she saw who it was, she relaxed a little]

Mhmm, I did! What about you, did you like it?

[Yukiko is just being herself. She loves you Roomie.]

I did! I love Korean horror movies! Have you seen any others?

[yamagishi]

[With that, she shook her head]

No, I'm afraid not but I would love to see if there's anymore like this. It's really interesting!

Before the Movies

[Eleanor wasn't nearly as big of a horror fan as Yukiko, though growing up with the girl meant she'd watched way, way more of it than she'd ever thought she would. So maybe she was a fan via osmosis? Either way she was looking through all the movies everyone brought and sorting them into two catagories. 'Fun to watch' and 'Gee that sure is a lot of blood on the cover.']

[Alternately, she has the biggest bowl of popcorn ever and a bunch of small cups for taking some, and she's suddenly offering it out.]

I made far too much of this please eat some.

[Eleanor stop.]

After the movies

[That was a tad too much horror for her, it seemed, as she was curled up on the far end of the couch in a blanket, just kind of...processing. And munching on popcorn. And kind of thinking about how inventions in Saw work.]

I don't know why people are so impressed with the crazy 'Saw' guy's death traps, I could build those pretty easily.

Before

[Yukiko had almost decided to stop Eleanor from making more popcorn but thought better of it after seeing just how much she has decided to pop. It's almost comical. And that's exactly why she is totally not stopping her at all.]

You made it. You should eat all of it...for having eyes bigger than your stomach. Or a bad sense of popcorn by volume.

[Eleanor huffed, giant bowl of popcorn in her lap, and looked up at Yukiko with sad puppy dog eyes.]

I see. You're going to abandon me in this, my hour of greatest need.

[She let out a long-seated sigh and then tossed a piece of popcorn into her mouth. What a burden...]

I am indeed.

[Yukiko reaches for one of those cups anyway, dipping it into the bowl and coming away with a bunch of popcorn.

And then she pours on some caramel syrup.]

Though stealing some, just so this caramel doesn't go to waste? Yes. That is happening.

The Main Event

[Once everyone seems settled and ready, Yukiko decides it's time to call to order this gathering. So, with a cheerful exclamation, she picks up the stack of movies...]

Which do you want to watch first? You've gotta pick with me! And if you brought something, add it to the pile!

Abyss!

[Eleanor has found, somewhere, probably amazon a bluray copy of the terrible undersea horror movie 'Abyss' and she thrusts it out to the group triumphantly.]

[Maybe she was just going to embrace this weird underwater other life thing...]

OH! I don't think I've seen that one!

[Clapping her hands, Yukiko reaches for it to inspect the cover. That's a hell of an image! And flipping it over, she reads it over.]

Horror under the sea, by James Cameron? Sounds a little like Alien. and that was a classic.

Hopefully. [Eleanor wasn't holding out any real belief it wouldn't be awful but, hey.]

I figured, you know, might be nice to see something under the ocean that's not in my head. [She grinned.]
