WHO: Mako and YOU, totally OTA.
WHERE: In the city center??
WHEN: 10/9
WHAT: Get bloodbent.
WARNINGS: Check under the cut. But potentially, blood bending can go as bad as you want.
[the fog seems to lay on especially thick this evening, It’s hard to see too far in front of you, and the air seems especially cold. Almost like it’s the dead of December, and not October at all.
In the distance, you can hear the sounds of the city, but really… it sounds far too distant for the busy street you just stepped off of.
The only figure you can see is Mako—who is waiting at the corner for the light to change, and honestly, he looks a little concerned. It’s extremely unusual for the fog to get this bad. They aren’t in San Francisco, after all. And this street is almost never dead, not even in the middle of the night.
He doesn’t extend any conversation—after all, why would he? He’s trying to get somewhere important.
But there appears to be another hooded figure… Waiting.]
((ooc: the figure is Amon, the villain from the first book of legend of korra. And spoiler alert for a 5 year old season, he is a bloodbender.
What is blood bending? It is where a water bender will literally use the water inside of your blood to bend… you! Most often in the show, it is used to knock people unconscious. But Amon knows how to use it to a much more devastating effect. If your powers depend on energy inside of your character, Amon can disrupt the flow of that energy. He can force you to move in ways you don’t want to, break bones, etc.
I am happy to use this to devastating effect, or just to frighten your character! PLEASE, if we have not discussed beforehand, give me a heads up either in your comment, pm to my journal, on my HMD, whatever, of what you’re looking for. I want this to be fun, and I don’t want to leave people going “Awww” who wanted something worse, or people going “OMG THAT WAS TOO MUCH” for people who want just a little scarytimes.
Thanks guys, for letting me make this villain as scary as he could have been.))

When the light changes, she's about twenty feet behind him, her flats making quick clip-clop sounds on concrete as she hurries to cross in time. The fog parts enough that she sees the hooded figure. That alone would make any woman's suspicion spike up off the charts, and so she veers a bit to walk behind Mako, giving the hooded figure a wide berth as she approaches.]
no subject
Or rather... it doesn't. But it feels suddenly like ice is shooting up their veins. It's hard to breathe, and their pulse quickens. But despite that, it's impossible to not be aware, suddenly, of every drop of blood in their body, and how painfully slow it's moving.
But the worse feeling is being lifted, off of the ground, purely by the blood just underneath the skin. Whatever it is, it's shocked Mako too.
The hooded figure, however, steps forward, bringing them both closer to him.]
no subject
She pushes against the magic, body trembling badly with the effort, but the only thing she's able to do is to twitch her fingers minutely, miles away from being able to reach into her purse for her Evoker.]
N-No--!
no subject
"You aren't the Avatar. How disappointing."
[his eyes slowly trail to her purse, where he could feel her reaching. Mako, for his part? Looks confused. He feels like he should recognize that word. But, Amon manipulates her arm, to reach inside of her purse]
"What are you reaching for?"
no subject
If he takes the Evoker away from her, she won't be able to fight back at all! And so she desperately tries to move her hands away from it, straining for her pen or headphones instead. But it's pointless. The Evoker is lifted up for the two other men to see, gleaming in the dim street lights near them.]
--!!
no subject
But as for Minako, her hand pulls tighter around the Evoker, somehow the metal sliding exactly into her hands, with her finger tight around the trigger. Amon had no grudge against her, and in a normal situation, would simply knock her out and be done with it. But... this wasn't normal.
Her hand flings out, muscles and bone straining-- in fact, that was likely to leave a bad bruise once all was said and done.]
"Is that it? That is how you planned to defeat me?"
no subject
What, are you bulletproof? Any normal gun could easily take a guy like you out, asshole. Luckily for you, it doesn't fire normal bullets.
She turns her head just enough to keep glaring at him full in the face, her lips pulled into a noiseless snarl. If she provoked him enough, maybe she could find an opening to do something instead of hanging here in the air like a puppet...]
no subject
Mako's eyes widen because he knows what Amon is getting at, and this was going to be bad, for both of them. He tries to flex where he can, but it's difficult.]
"Well, no matter. This can still be used."
[her finger is forced to tighten over the trigger, and then forced to pull it.]
no subject
Now, it's her ace in the hole. Her talisman against all evil.
The gun goes off, and Minako's head jerks to the side from the impact. But instead of the sound of bullet casing hitting the ground, glass smashes, bright and glowing shards of blue light flung into the air from the other side of her head.
And she smirks at Amon.
A large peacock emerges from behind her in a burst of wind, a spear wielding warrior riding on its back. Minako tries to convey a look that says "brace yourself!" to Mako-- and then the peacock screeches, the spread of its wings starting a crackle in the air that sets off a chain reaction of lightning strikes down to the ground and toward Amon. The warrior, in the meantime, reaches out to nab Minako around the waist, hauling her onto the peacock and reaching for Mako as well.]
no subject
But he'll spot Mako at the streetcorner he was heading to, and he'll try jogging over. Safety in numbers, right? He doesn't seem to notice the other hooded figure yet]
no subject
So much for saying hi? It seems a little unnatural, actually.]
no subject
Mako? You okay?
no subject
Whatever is freezing him in place. It feels like ice creeping inside of him, and then lifting him by every cell in his blood off of the ground.
The hooded figure stares at them, uncaring about how uncomfortable it is. But they both float closer to him.
"I told you, I would destroy you."]
no subject
He makes a choking sound, as he feels his blood freeze. He suddenly finds he can't move, it feels like ice is spreading all over his body (well, sides that left arm since...no blood in there...but you get my drift). Next thing he knows, he's being lifted off the ground and floated over to a hooded figure he didn't see before]
Ng..?!
[ITS HARD TO TALK WHILE BLOODBENT OK]
no subject
"This is surprising. I was expecting the Avatar with you."
[he casts a glance at Noah, and his eyes narrow underneath his mask. He's... annoyed.
And the pressure on both of them increases-- it almost feels like something is tearing.]
no subject
He's trying really hard to struggle against the hold, because of course he is. But it hurts a lot. But it's not Noah unless he keeps trying to struggle. In fact, there's some weak crackling of energy coming from that left arm of his-- he's attempting to activate that weapon of his. It's just a lot harder while being bloodbent. ]
no subject
If anything, his blood freezes, spiking and pushing against his veins, and locking him into a vise. Mako lets out a cry, because whatever he's doing to Noah, he's doing to him too.
Noah lifts up high, just with a nod of his head.]
"You think you can attack me.
no subject
Fuck. This is bad. What is this guy?
But Noah isn't one to give up. He's survived this long, he couldn't let some fog illusion get him. Through gritted teeth, he'll force out words.]
The fuck are you?
no subject
Bending. Heh.
But truly, he has no quarrel with Noah. It's just the cruelty of the fog that really pushes him on, and he steps closer to both of them]
"Who I am does not matter. I will eliminate bending from this world."
[and that's where his look fixes on Mako more firmly-- driving home the point that it was him he'd settle for, even if he couldn't get the Avatar.]
no subject
But even with the pain, Amon's words really confuses Noah. Because he's never heard about benders in the way that Amon means. He just knows about what benders meant back in his homeland: getting drunk, or gay people.
Neither of which applies to Mako, at all. Yet Amon seems so fixated on him right now.]
Uh-
[He speaks through gritted teeth, but even then the really confused tone comes through]
Fuck, you really got the wrong guy...
[MAKO HAS A GIRLFRIEND]
no subject
A bolt of lightning leaps out at Amon with a crack, and he collapses-- which drops both Mako and Noah to the ground unceremoniously. But there's no time to get their bones back in working order.]
Noah?
[Mako pulls himself up, and offers a hand to him]
Let's get out of here.
no subject
Noah makes a thud on the ground, squawking as he does so. He's a bit surprised that Mako just shot out LIGHTNING- was that new? That seemed new.
But he's not going to argue right now, and he'll take Mako's hand to help pull himself up]
Y-Yeah, good idea.

Through the fog, Derek starts to see a figure up ahead. As the distance between them closes he realizes it is Officer Lou. Derek hasn't talked to much him since the police meeting last month and he wonders how he has been handling all this crazy fog stuff. He wonders what has been jumping out at Officer Lou lately. At of the corner of Derek's eye he sees a hooded figure. Crap! It's probably the one from his memories. Great, another person getting pulled into this.
Breaking into a sprint he called out to Officer Lou.]
Officer Lou, behind you! Get away from it! It's not human!
Damn it! Why wasn't there ice this time?
no subject
And also, it has the bonus effect of Derek looking like a mad man. Mako starts to answer back, but then the hooded figure steps forward, confident.
It becomes extremely apparent that whatever it is... it's human.
And Derek's running is halted, instantly, with the uncomfortable sensation of the blood in his veins refusing to budge, locking him into place, causing his heartbeat to quicken... and yet the movement through his veins is so slow, to practically feel like ice, like he was frozen from the inside.
He's listed off the ground, his weight stiffly hanging off of his veins. Another uncomfortable feeling.]
no subject
What? But I thought...
[Derek's thoughts are over come by the pain and he tries to scream out, but all he can manage is a gasp of breath. What is happening to him? He suddenly starts to feel his feet leave the ground and he is being lift up into the air.
He sees Mako out of the corner of his eye and tries to call out to him.]
He-hel...
[Derek wishes he could move to grab his gun and shoot the guy in the hooded figure. If only he could stop him. His head as been pointed to look up and Derek sees a lamp post shining right in his eyes.]
If only I could do something...stop him...
[The light post suddenly snaps in two, the light goes out, and the post falls in the hooded figure.]
no subject
Or to fireman carry him, if nothing else.]
What the hell, we need to keep moving.
[Before he starts doing whatever it was again, and Mako can feel that time is of the essence here. It didn't look like it took the hooded figure much time at all to do what it was doing.]
no subject
Yeah, I'm trying. Still trying to regain the movement of my limbs. Who the hell is that?
no subject
[Mako did not want to get seized by that feeling again. And unfortunately, while Derek was just getting started, Mako collapses to the group, frozen. He's tense-- trapped by an unseen vise, that so far? Has spared Derek. But only for the moment.
Amon is stepping towards them again, unhurried.]
no subject
S-st-stop i-it.
no subject
any escape.]
"I'm afraid I can't, not until I've cleansed the sin of bending from this world."
[he pulls Mako close, and there's... something. Mako isn't sure what he's doing, but he knows it's bad. He just needs to pull together something-- anything.
Finding calm. The positive and negative chi, like he remembers in his memories.
And channeling that-- through his hands, and to Amon, in the form of lightning. It throws Amon back, and he collapses.
But it frees Mako and Derek.]
no subject
Take that you bastard!
no subject
But it does dull his response a bit as he tries not to go back in time with his memories...]
Derek--
[but hey, when Amon tries to bend them again, it's... actually possible to move? If hard. His bending is way less effective]</small?
no subject
Damn, I missed.

On this particular night, Dante's wearing the long hooded coat that Retrospec sent him at the beginning of the month, the easier to slide through the shadows with. Seeing Mako standing at the corner is nothing out of the ordinary, but as he gets closer, Dante is struck by just how much quieter the city gets. Quiet enough to be out of the ordinary, to be different.
He's had enough experience with the fog to realize what that means, and he hops down from the building to land next to Mako.]
There's something coming.
[Another hooded figure, conveniently.]
no subject
Yeah. Let's get out of here.
[as he says that, the figure starts walking towards them, calm, unhurried. Whoever it is, they have all the time in the world. And they were expecting something like this.]
no subject
[It's said in an undertone to Mako, but the flash of light with Dante summons his Keyblade is anything but subtle. But if this is either the hooded figure he fought with alongside Togusa, or the horrifying, chilling being that had been after Derek, he's going to need his weapon. He's not about to let himself be caught unawares!]
no subject
But they only get about halfway through the crosswalk when suddenly, it's like fighting every vein in their body. The blood is frozen, like ice, enough so that even their hearts are working harder to force it through. But it draws closer to their center, putting pressure on muscles and bones alike, in a way that is distinctly new, and uncomfortable.
Worse, it's hard to breathe, as everything constricts as tight as it can...
Mako lets out a shocked gasp, but the only true sound is the steps the hooded figure makes.]
no subject
There's a rush of panic that sweeps him as his body's function is ripped from him, a terror because this isn't the first time he's felt like this before. He's felt his entire body seized, stretched and used against his will, but that was always in dreams, in nightmares, in memories of that other Dante's life. Never to him, never in the waking world. It's not a darkness that's controlling him now, though; it's the very blood in his veins, sluggish and reluctant, fighting his heart as it pumps. He can't breathe with how tightly everything is winding, with how taut his body feels...
What is this? Dante tries to glance to Mako, looking for some sort of answer, but he's at the mercy of whatever it is that's controlling them now.]
no subject
"We are not finished here."
[his voice is practically a hiss, when their blood freezes completely, for just a moment, the most awkward and uncomfortable feeling as all function vanishes until his grip relents just enough.]
no subject
Schrödinger's DanteAnd then the vise-grip on him relents just enough that his heart begins to beat, just enough that his lungs can again inflate, and Dante is alive again, gasping in a breath this time even as his body screams for release.]
What... what does this guy want?
[It's breathless, raspy--but it's audible.]
no subject
[Amon asks, and as he does so, Dante's blood constricts, pressing painfully close to his bones, trapping the muscles. The sensation is uncomfortable, and really drives home how fragile his insides really are. Amon looks at him through his mask, sensing something, but knowing that Dante isn't the person he wants.]
"I want to cleanse the world of bending, equalize everyone."
no subject
I don't even know what bending is!
no subject
Amon steps forward.]
"Then, why are you here?"
[as his eyes narrow, his blood adds more pressure against his frame.]
no subject
What do you mean, what am I doing here? I'm just trying to get home!
[It's a lie, sure, but there's no way that this guy can know that... right?]
15 minutes late with starbucks
I mean, you know I trust you and everything but it's kinda creepy out here...
[ Bolin is totally not breaching their personal bubble and is just close to Mako because... he wants to make room for that hooded figure! It's polite and he'd rather brush against his brother than this totally harmless stranger??? ]
20 minutes late with dunkin
[He feels him on the creepy factor, but they need to get to the grocery store before it closes. He hadn't expected some of his other errands to take so long, though.
Amon steps closer while they're distracted.]
no subject
[ he sighs ]
Let's just hurry up, alright?
[ he nods at Amon though, because that's only the polite thing to do ]
30 mins late with tim hortons
Hey, Mako. You're out late.
