nightmares

[ When you enter the dream, you're engulfed by darkness until you hear a deep and unfamiliar voice. It speaks in a language you are most comfortable with. ]

The contract has been sealed...

You have agreed to provide the Trickster support
in his journey to oppose fate and seek change.

CASINO
It's filled with a variety of gamblers from talking fish to actual people. Shadows are also gambling? But they're aggressive due to their mass losses. There are several elevators and it seems like the treasure is on the VIP level.

If you choose to enter the CASINO, you may appear outside of the structure or on the first floor in costume and mask. Akira will accompany you in his Joker outfit.

VELVET ROOM
Are you a prisoner? Or a keeper? You can stand behind the bars with Akira, withstand the abuse and rebel alongside him, or on the opposite side—ushered by two wardens and a man with an elongated nose to carry out discipline. Rehabilitation is important.

If you choose to enter the VELVET ROOM, you may appear inside or outside the cell. Your attire will change into prisoner wear or officer uniform respectively.

MEMENTOS (SPOILER)
In the city of Recolle, you notice there's something strange. People walk past the blood red rain and the towering skeleton pieces. The irrelevant become forgotten. The forgotten vanish. Is it your hand that's disappearing? Or is it Akira's?

If you choose MEMENTOS, you'll be in your normal attire or in your underwear. Whichever your character feels less attractive in if you want. Once again, Akira is beside you.

[ Akira has been having a hard time with his nightmares. Some of them he remembers bits and pieces (all useless), but he's thinking a jog in the ungodly time where the thick fog rolls in is a good idea? Unfortunately not... He ends up running away from one of these three tormentors in his pajamas. What's with his luck?

As he looks behind him, he crashes into someone. Sorry. ]

TWIN WARDENS (SPOILER)
Their names are unknown to you, but they're two girls with silver hair with a single golden eye (an eyepatch covers the other). As attendants of the Velvet Room, they have this ethereal aura to them, even menacing as they shoot various skills into the fog.

"Come back here, inmate! You can't hide forever!"

"You're only delaying the inevitable."

IMPERIOUS ANGEL (SPOILER)
An angel appears with an abstract body shape. Wings scaling wide and halo spinning over its head, it spreads its several hands that hold instruments. With the rise of the triangle, the angel rings it with a clear ding. In a matter of seconds, a flash of light magic strikes near.

"I am what humanity desires. Why oppose me?"

You can hear the sneer in its voice.

GOLD PIGGER
This silver piggy bank may seem cute, but it's also massively large and rolls without end. What does stop it from rolling are valuable items. Throw something expensive and it'll take a break to appraise it with a series of oinks. The one in control is a half-fly guy throwing out some mad rhymes.

"Yo yo yo! You think you can just walk into my neighborhood and disrespect me like that, dawg?"

Let's go with Jaguar?

[ SORRY, CLEO. He doesn't see why would you be against this, you justice fiend. Without a doubt, they're already looking for a way to get into the casino unnoticed. The front door is out of the question. ]

If we steal their treasure, they'll return to normal.

[ It's as simple as that. Vigilantism. ]

If I need a code name, then... Knight.

[she's going with that way too easily, but she prefers it to ~~p2 palette panther~~ Jaguar.]

What do you mean, 'return to normal'?

[ I'll definitely just shift the scenery when i see fit, HEHEHE.

"Trickster, it seems someone has come to your aid... How unfortunate they must also go through rehabilitation."

Akira gives the man with the big nose a weird look before he notices Kashuu?? And his comment? Why is it so nonchalant. Usually, they're both in high spirits off of terrorizing others, but the exasperation is also contagious. ]

Why are you even here?

[ "Silence, inmate! Just because you have a friend in there now doesn't change a thing!" She slams the door with the baton, running electricity through it so it crackles and pops up and down the steel bars.

Help.

Akira is inwardly hyperventilating. ]

[ Daisuke finds himself in high school, but from his ID it shows he's an incoming sophomore instead. Despite that, there isn't anything physically changed about him or the rest of his classmates. They're all familiar, their voices, too—if they didn't have a blatant X crossed over their faces, maybe it would be easier. Name tags are nowhere to be found, either.

They address him, they try to talk to him, and all those words are written out and float above their heads only to disappear. It's hard to keep track who is who; they come and go. Even if you start pinning names on them, their faces remain X'd out.

Despite that, everything seems normal. Even the background music is generally peppy. During his homeroom class, he'll find one in the back corner desk, twirling his pen in his hand with great dexterity. His face isn't X'd out. It's Akira. ]

[ Whispers: you and Sena are similar. Of course the dreams aren't continuous, so dream Akira can't make that correlation. He takes a moment to look at her ears, her outfit, and...

It's obvious he thinks Jaguar is better, but. ]

All right, Knight. [ IF SHE LIKES IT, SHE GETS IT. ] The person we're targeting is corrupt, but not everyone starts off like that. If we can complete this heist, they'll return to who they used to be and see the wrong they've done.

[ He hopes that's enough for her. It's a dream after all. Some of it probably won't make sense. Kind of like how there's just a Mario tunnel on the roof of this side of the building? ]

[Honestly, if this ends with him in a cell anyway, that'd be fine. It could be a hard cut and everything. But Goro's not exactly looking forward to being punished like Akira anyway, so he'll force aside his unease at hurting his boyfriend and winds his fingers into the collar of the striped shirt.]

No wonder they're so eager to see you hurt with a mouth like that.

[He mouths a quick sorry before pretty much jerking him forward against the bars, face tightening at the sound of Akira's head on metal.]

Hasn't anyone ever taught you manners? Whether you think you did something wrong or not, the fact of the matter is you did. It'll only get worse out from here if you don't ask for forgiveness. On your knees, first off.

[Do it, or I'll do it for you is the sort of sentiment from that tone, though his expression's apologetic.]

I've never seen--

[ he tries to explain, i've never seen recolle look like this, but he can't, because Akira's belief that he is not himself feels like a sucker punch to the chest. With a silent gasp he stumbles, pitching to the ground and painfully catching himself on his hands as his leg disappears from beneath him.

With one eye winced shut Yu looks up again, trying to focus past the strange but terrifying feeling that he could simply dissolve into nothingness at any moment. ]

--no, but ... Akira, why--?

[... i just read up to find that and oh my god

DON'T TELL HER THAT OR SHE'LL GET MAD.]

... What? How is...

[She just sighs.]

This is a dream, isn't it? It doesn't make any sense... But I suppose I should simply follow the rules in here for now.

What—

[ Akira's eyes dart quickly when he hears that gasp and the thud to the ground. Yu is still physical enough (in this dream world) to make a noise as he falls, luckily. There's a chill that runs down his spine before he quickly falls to his knees to check up on him.

It seems like he's quick to change the identity of this person in front of him. Yu will find his limbs back where they belong and the pressure gone. ]

Hey, Yu. Are you all right?

[ The why can wait until his friend is all right. Despite the scene, everyone is walking past them, not even reacting to them. ]

[ You're the best, I guess... The metal clangs when he's pulls into it, but he tries to shake off Goro's hold to give himself some breathing room. There's this look int his eye that spells trouble, someone that isn't ready to yield even with this turn of events. It's almost like he isn't the same person or maybe this is what he's like when he's cornered.

His expression softens a bit to the sorry, but... His pride won't let him get on his knees. They would find it suspicious if he doesn't struggle a bit. The show must go on!

He jerks back so Goro can slam into the bars himself. Sorry. It gets a small giggle from the twins, actually. ]

What? This isn't a dream.

[ Of course Akira thinks this is as real as can be even though in hindsight... None of this seems right. They need to go down the tunnel and they'll turn into little pixel versions of themselves.

It seems like they're in the behind the scenes area of the casino... Though it's hard to tell because they're 2D pixels. There are some security guard mice around, very round and probably not dangerous. ]

You see, if you were Jaguar, I wouldn't be so worried.

... Why are you worried?

[She just. Stares at him, then back at the mice... guard... pixels.... Cleo's never played a video game in her life, so she's pretty concerned about this.]

If they're dangerous, I'll simply get rid of them.

[He forgot...goodness. Well luckily Elliot isn't really the type to lecture, especially when they are running for their lives, so-]

You don't- [he huffs a little. He is not cut out for this running] - L-Let's just get out of this alive first okay?! We'll talk then!

[Speaking of- how is this pig so fast? Not only that, but did Akira just summon a persona?? At least, it looked like a persona from what Minako summoned- except he didn't see Akira put a gun to his head. Though it's not like he has any real time to mull over these matters since the lighting didn't slow it down at all.

While still running, he'll do his best to turn around for a moment and swing his staff in the direction of the pig. Three magic bubbles fly out and hit the pig. Surprisingly, it does damage despite it being fricking bubbles, but it's likely not going to slow the thing down either]

[ Yu's breathing immediately eases when Akira remembers who he is, which twin he is, and the relief seeps the tension from his shoulders. Getting both his knees beneath him, he'll sit on his heels and reach for Akira without thinking, a reflexive motion that finds him touching his friend's elbow with one hand.

There's a shivery terror at the center of his chest, i'm not souji i'm not him please-- i'm me, and he tries not to pay it any mind. ]

I'm fine, [ he breathes out on a sigh, trying to smile. ] I'm fine. You...

[ --see me--

He shakes his head. ]

What about you?

[ WELP, looks like this isn't the time for a tutorial, huh? sena watches the way akira lunges at the enemy with his daggers, and decides to charge in as well and slash at one of those mice before it gets him with a stun gun. so far so good? he still doesn't have enough sword training due to how busy he was last month, but apparently he's not doing half bad in this surreal dream.

he turns and sees that another mouse is aiming at akira with a gun from afar, and sena dashes over to guard his back by swishing his cape over them; the cape can apparently work like a shield, as the bullets bounce off the fabric like it's nothing. ]

You have a gun on you or something?

[ Why are you touching him? He looks startled at first since he’s still thinking this is just some awful dream where they’ll wake up from, but he’s still here. Giving a rather tired smile, he ruffles Yu’s hair to calm him down. It’s all right, it was just a mix up. ]

There’s a slight ringing in my ears and I feel lightheaded, but... I haven’t disappeared like I’m supposed to, so I’m okay.

[ Thumbs up! He’s doing... his best to come off as normal and Fine with this. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stop from the blood raining down on them. The number of skeleton pieces only grow before it creates canopies over the city. The purge starts and they see someone next to them fall backwards, screaming for their life as they disappear into a dark haze. The crowd walks by, not even paying them a pitiful look. ]

[EXCELLENT time for an adventure

Kashuu, in the meantime, still jumps when the baton is slammed into the door. This kid has no chill?! And the terms inmate and rehabilitation jive even less well than the prison uniform itself. Still, he... punkishly ignores the warnings of silence, instead plucking at the edge of his shirt before looking over toward Akira.]

I have no idea.

[An honest answer, if a useless one...]

What about you, huh? Jail?

[WHO KNEW that Akira was a law-breaking hooligan.]

Yeah, I do.

[ The only Personas he seems to remember using are in his roster... So when Sena asks about having a gun, he brushes his fingertips against the rim of his mask. The demon lord, Satanael, appears and points its intricate gun at the target Sena has his eyes on.

With a quick cast of riot gun, all the mice get hit and plop backwards onto their backs, moving their little paws in the air like they can't get up. It's actually humorous. The megaphone mice is also on its last squeak, actually collapsing when Akira punts it away. ]

Thanks for the cover. [ And he hopes Sena has healing powers? Actually, he doesn't see why Sena doesn't. Yes, this means he has healing capabilities now. Akira needs healing. ] Want to finish them off?

[ Yes, his trust blossoms in giving his friend powers that... he really does not have. ]

Still. I just hope we can handle this by ourselves... I usually have a couple of people with me for heists.

[ Like three more, but he can't say no to someone that can bench press him. The mice instantly notice them, but they scurry away deeper into the area. This only concerns him, but he leads Cleo in their pixel journey only to see they've formed into a large gladiator rat (but it's wearing a police hat) blocking entry to the casino's first floor.

It's time to use skills? Akira summons Yoshitsune and the random encounter zoom in happens. They're back to normal, but the rat is even more grotesque in 3D. It's practically foaming at the mouth.

"The ruler of this place knows what you're up to. We can't let you get to the treasure!" ]

Show me what you got.

[ The rat will lunch at them with fangs bared. ]

[the rat's going to be cat lunch, more like.

Cleo draws her sword and charges, swinging at the rat. It's a grotesque monster, sure... But so are the ones in her visions. She just lets those visions guide her, sidestepping the rat's lunge with a swing at its leg, aiming to lop it off in one blow.]

A monster is not fit to wear that hat.

[ While he doesn't find the pig menacing at all, he is scared of being rolled into a pancake. Anyone would instantly die from that. He can't even take the time to admire Elliot's resourcefulness and playful skills with how they have to keep running. He's not sure why, but this... feels familiar in some way. Why is his life like this? On the run from the police, blamed left and right, and always cornered.

Even that fly guy that's the one rolling the pig to them has it out for him, now shouting some vile words. If Elliot looks up, he's wearing a really fancy suit and has some bling on one finger, an extravagant ring. ]

Do you... have anything expensive on you?

[ It's a bank. There's another attempt to stall with a different Persona this time. Satanael, a demon lord shows up, shooting the rolling pig only for its bullets to bounce off of it. ]

... I'm innocent.

[ "Yes, the Trickster is merely a prisoner of fate." Igor explains a little more. "How cruel for the world to deem him as a miscreant based on his past, though he has done no wrong. Still, he must go through Rehabilitation if he wants to escape Ruin."

With only the mention of ruin the whole Velvet Room turns from a deep blue to deep red. The light dims as Igor lowers his head and the attendants gold eyes shine brightly through the darkness.

"Ruin."

Ruin. Ruin. Ruin.

[ Before anything else, it's the background music that tips him off that he's dreaming again. With all these going on, he can't tell if they're his or someone else's dreams. It's a little unsettling though, having to deal with people who have X's over their faces as they try to interact with him. He's been spewing excuses left and right to leave.
