WHAT: Sakura out at work or out and about shopping or working on homework at the library.

Confectionary:

[Sakura looks up when the door opens, her hair shifting a little with the movement of her head as she smiles and welcomes the new arrival. She's at least sort of used to the uniform by now, and dressing up in general thanks to her best friend taking sewing classes and wanting a model of sorts to make sure her outfits fit and looks alright when worn. She stands at the counter, which is luckily low enough for her not to have trouble with, smiling with a wave before gesturing to the displays of cupcakes.]

Hello! Which flavor would you like today?

[Or, perhaps, if she sees the customer here often enough, she'll ask if they want their usual order. If she has noticed they seem to have a particular favourite.]

Mall:

At least I'm ready school wise. So there's just the groceries to get for tonight and anything for tomorrow. But I guess while I'm here I should look for a new jacket.....

[It's quiet. More some habit of talking to herself to not forget her errands or such. But that doesn't mean others might not overhear her while she is there to primarily figure some groceries, but also perhaps a couple of other things too. Sakura can be found around the aisles of the supermarket or perhaps in the clothing stores, eyeing a new top or coat or skirt, perhaps.]

Library:

[Sakura usually figures it easier to study if she stays at the library and isn't distracted by the cleaning or cooking until she's actually done her homework, if she comes by after school once she finishes classes. She might be sitting down with her textbooks and laptop trying to get through some of said homework this afternoon. She might be chewing at her pen or pencil, or perhaps someone notices her frowning and pouting at her notes or textbook as she tries to figure something out. She might just be distracted still wondering what her recent memory means. The contract.....that...er, talking stuffed toy? How can she be expected to keep up with school with weird things like that? If more of this might happen? She puts her head down at her arms, groaning into the fabric of the sleeves of her shirt.

Or maybe she is instead found a little after, having finished and then taken to wandering the shelves of books for something non school related to read in the evenings.]

It is, when we have them in season! And ah, I think we have cherry. Did you want that instead?

[Sakura pauses with the tongs, using them to point out the cherry ones with the chocolate, to show him the ones she means. If that's what he wants instead or as well as the strawberry.]

[Good question............ after a moment of decision:]

Just the cherry. I don't know who'd eat the strawberry ones.

Okay then. Cherry it is!

[Well. She'd eat the strawberry. But of course this isn't her money, isn't her preferences that matter. It's his. Which is why she then uses the tongs to reach for the cherry flavor, to get out his specified number of cupcakes into the container. She then places the container on the counter and gives him the price.]

[Strawberry and chocolate just scream Valentine's Day to him, and these are just for family and a few friends of his. No need for that connotation even if they wouldn't think of it that way. He pays and gives her a smile.]

Thanks. These look great, by the way. Did you help make any of them?

Me? Um. Some of them. But it's usually more that they're made in the mornings, and most of my shifts are after class, so.

[She gives a shrug. The perks of getting a free cupcake on occasion make up for her not always being able to help make them, at least. So she really doesn't mind. It's part of the job too, of any store, in serving the customers, after all. She passes the cupcakes to him after sorting the payment at the register.]

[It's still a good job it seems. Cupcakes seem like a plus, but Shiori has a sweet-tooth, so... it might not be a good fit. He takes the cupcakes with a nod.]

Thanks. So are you in high school then? I didn't think high schoolers were allowed to get jobs.

I'm thirteen. I think I'm kind of an exception? I already knew the owner. And it isn't like kids younger than me aren't doing paper runs or that sort of thing.

[Though that might seem more casual a thing in comparison to Sakura helping like this. Working at the bakery serving customers and all.]

[AREN'T THERE CHILD LABOR LAWS????]

I hadn't really thought about it. But I figure if it wasn't, he wouldn't have let me help out here?

[Sakura being so young she probably didn't question it. Getting to feel useful, and getting paid, even if it might not be a lot, is still something and still some way for her to contribute to help her brother out.]

[Sakura, you are too sweet and innocent and your boss probably doesn't even know he's breaking the law...]

Does he know how old you are?

I think so. I've known them a while.

[Or maybe he kind of lost track on the exact birthdays she was having over the years. But either way. She doesn't look much if any older than her age. And she doesn't want to get anyone in trouble. Sakura hadn't even considered that.]

[As long as the person knew...]

Mmm... well, let's hope no one else finds out then. This seems like a good job...

It is. I've been enjoying it so far.

[In comparison to some other jobs, this one definitely isn't so bad, at least. Or, Sakura figures anyway, in having seen and heard some stories about her brother's however many part time jobs he had gotten.]

[It's still a little worrying that a kid feels the need to get a job... Makes kind of a good idea for a story to write, Shiori thinks, taking some mental notes.]

And it doesn't get in the way of school?

No. I just come after class when I don't have cheerleading. If it's quieter, they said I can do homework if there's no customers and most of the cleaning was done, so.

[It's not so bad. Not too disrupting, except perhaps a little with her social life in not much being able to spend time with friends except the weekends perhaps. But she manages well enough.]

[The bosses really though of everything in regards to this. It's a little bit of a relief, but not too much... Kids should be enjoying their lives as kids.]

So this is perfect for you. I mean, not the fact that you need a job... but that they're willing to work with you.

Yes! It's definitely worked out. I'm glad. It means at least that my brother isn't....isn't stressing as much at least about the bills if I can try help a little too.

[Or at least. While they figure whatever their father left for them in his will. But this has really been lucky for her in getting this. It's helping in the meantime, anyway.]

[This entire interaction is giving him all sorts of ideas for a book character, or at least a short story... SORRY SAKURA, YOUR LIFE WILL BE USED AS INSPIRATION]
