TEAM ETHANOL LOG
After that strange Retrospec post, you may be wondering how to contact this "technician". Luckily, your phone or whatever device you have handy to check the network chooses that exact second to go haywire... Team Ethanol roster: Almedha, Augustine Sycamore, Chuuya Nakahara, Heine Rammsteiner, Izumi Sena, Kazuma Kiryu, Nui Harime, Peko Pekoyama, Rosalind Lutece, Weiss Schnee, Yukiko Amagi, Zaveid. On whatever device you use to view the retrospec application, you may note the following scrolling on the screen instead of the usual options: ALERT: CRITICAL TIME-SPACE ANOMALY ACTIVE. SEARCHING FOR ADMIN... SEARCHING FOR ADMIN... DESIGNATED ADMIN CANDIDATE: EMPLOYEE #91962 M. MAHONEY PLEASE INPUT AUTHORIZATION CODE. The prompt does not seem to be for you, however, as the text prompts continue to scroll, this time with some input. > ********************** ACCEPT ADMIN STATUS Y/N? > y DESIGNATE PROGRAM TO RUN. PLEASE BE ADVISED WE ARE SYSTEM CRITICAL. > run subroutine designation echolocation-alpha CONFIRMED. EMPLOYEES ACTIVE IN AREA: 2 > list employees EMPLOYEES ACTIVE: M. FITZWILLIAM LEVEL 0 ACCESS, INTERN M. MAHONEY FULL SYSTEM ACCESS, ADMIN > search for alternative assets CONFIRMED. SENDING ALTERNATIVE ASSET LIST. Names scroll by on the screen. and look, there goes yours! It seems like someone is manually picking and choosing from a list of every Retrospec user who didn't disappear into the void, and several names queue up. > initialize support team CONFIRMED. TEAM DESIGNATION? > ethanol CONFIRMED. TEAM ETHANOL MISSION PARAMETERS? PLEASE BE ADVISED SYSTEM ENERGY LEVELS ARE CRITICALLY LOW. > make contact with sysadmin > contact point entrance 6 > temporary access level 1 granted CONFIRMED. MISSION PARAMETERS SET. TEMPORARY ACCESS LEVEL 1 GRANTED. The screen clears itself, and instead of the familiar retrospec logo, there is simply TEAM ETHANOL as a designation. the application will refuse to show anything other than a map, with one point highlighted in red. it is, of course, up to team members to decide whether or not they approach the access point. Team Ethanol's access point is in the Recollé Graveyard. Team members will find the grave of "G. Mahoney" will move aside to reveal catacombs so long as they approach it in groups of two or more team members. Only Team Ethanol team members can see or enter the catacombs at this time. Please see the Objective 1 toplevel for more information on what they can see when they travel further down the tunnels. This is the Team Ethanol Event Log. You are free to toplevel and thread as you choose on this log, but only team members may utilize this log. Important links to mod toplevels are: Mod Questions & Participation Reporting. Please be aware you are responsible for reporting your own participation & objective completion efforts with links; the moderators will try to keep up with threads, but as we are currently running several teams with participation, we require you to keep us up to date! Please read each of the toplevels and instructions!
The schedule for Team Ethanol is as follows: WEEK 1: Objective 1; CLEAR: M. MahoneyObjectives will be given in mod toplevels to this post with instructions; please check the log currently for Objective 1 to see how this will work. NPC interactions will be rnged from your team roster once per week, and toplevels for those will also be posted, although all team members can hear/see these interactions! |

And when Amelia mentions about the missing skull at the center torch, he joins her to take a closer look at the stack.]
Think it might be part of a puzzle?
(OOC: This is for my teammates since you're already asleep, but can we handwave that Augustine has a sword that Amelia gave him or not?)

[Well, that's not unsettling at all. ...But then, they are in a tomb, aren't they? But what's the deal with this tribal stuff?
Orion tries not to think about it too hard as he continues to look around the room.
And sees Amelia poking at the skulls with a poleaxe. For the love of...]
I'm all for your enthusiasm, but don't trigger a trap.
[Please.]

I'm not going to rush in.
[The taps she made did not sound like plaster, either, and Amelia did stop. Now, if only there was an instructi--
The wall was carved with hieroglyphs. Ones Amelia couldn't read, and ones that might have just been scattered names as much as instruction, but they seemed significant too.]
Can either of you read that wall?
no subject
Once she mentions about the hieroglyphs, Augustine takes a closer look at the wall in an attempt to read them.]
I don't know... To be honest, I'm a college professor on animal biology, not Egyptian history and ancient languages.

[Still, Orion finds himself getting closer to the glyphs to look at them. Maybe pictures are useful?
....Or... then again, maybe not. Orion can't make heads or tails of it.
Giving up shortly thereafter, he takes a look around the rest of the room.]
Do you think the missing skull is an important person.
[Just... throwing that out there. Orion has no clue what he's talking about. Pay him no mind.]
Or maybe we're supposed to put out the fire of the one with the missing skull.
no subject
There's no need to be rude.
[That being said, Amelia strides right over to the torch on the left, with a seemingly complete set of skulls. With the hieroglyphs being so much illustrated gibberish to her, brute force would have to do.
She slid the axe blade under the top skull's teeth, taking care to keep from knocking any teeth loose or stabbing in to the skull beneath as she drew the skull out on the flat of the blade.]

When he sees one of the scarabs shoot fire at Augustine, he dashes toward him to shove him out of the way.]
Seriously, what did I tell you?
[He sounds thoroughly unamused as he shoots a look at Amelia. He's tired of traps today. Can there just be no more traps? How is he supposed to deal with these things?
And while he has confidence with a Nerf gun, he's not too sure that he can hit this kind of moving target with a real one. And further more if a bullet would even deter the things.]
Look, just... do something. And I'll try to keep them away.
[Might as well take a shot (ha) at it anyway, right? He readies one of his guns at the nearest scarab and, once he feels as steady as he can, pulls the trigger.]
no subject
First, she was clinging to her initial idea. Amelia turned, grabbing the skull with her hand. She didn't want to think the...creatures would be pleased if she dropped it.]
Move!
[She shouted at Augustine while sweeping over to the center torch, slotting the skull in to the center slot with the others.]
no subject
What in the world?!
[So much for avoiding traps. Realizing about this, Augustine moves away from the torches and draws his sword to defend himself. But once he does that, he turns his attention to Amelia with an almost piercing gaze.]
What did you do?!

Somehow, he hadn't bothered to calculate that they would actually shoot back at him. And now he's screwed. Crap with extra crap sauce!
He tries to dodge them, but one of the flames hits his shoulder and he has to swiftly do the stop, drop, and roll routine. Although, he's not sure if he has enough time to completely put the flame out before they attack again, and so he tucks his guns into his belt and quickly opts to rip off the shirt before it can become a proper hazard, tossing it in the corner as he prepares to dodge again.]
Hey, I don't mean to panic here, but hurry up and figure out the puzzle, already!
[He tries to find a proper shot to aim again. If it presents itself, he'll pull the trigger again. Or else he's stuck dodging these things until the other two figure something out.]
no subject
Slotting the skull into the center torch didn't seem to work. So what about smothering the torch with the skull itself? The last room had that strange ever-burning blaze in the hearth--fire must be important.
Amelia pulled the skull back out of the slot, and dropped it into the center of the torch, crown down, to where the flames seemed to originate from.]
no subject
Modeste! Use your claws to destroy that scarab!
[He doesn't know if throwing his sword will destroy it and using her pulse attack will destroy the room. However, he feels that her jumping abilities will try to destroy the scarab. In the meantime, he removes his jacket and runs up to Orion to help him put out the fire with it.]

He lets out an audible breath of relief as he tucks his guns back away, and then examines his shirt to see if it's salvageable enough to continue wearing for the meantime. Walking around shirtless feels weird. After a time, he decides to pull it back on.]
At least you're a quick thinker, but you might want to think things through before pulling another stunt like that. [He's talking to you, Amelia, though his voice isn't elevated. Annoyed, but not loud.] I thought brainy-types were supposed to look for information before trying stupid shit.
no subject
She glares over her shoulder at Orion.]
And I suppose your solution was much better. Tell me, what was it?
no subject
He wants to try inserting himself to their argument, but he doesn't want to fan the flames about it. Plus, he is currently trying to catch his breath from what was happening.]
no subject
Maybe do something that won't catch my teammates on fire. You know, just the obvious there. We were just lucky it was little this time, instead of more fucking zombies.
[Which... Orion can't help but glance around the room for. The memory of that battle was far more than unsettling, and he'd much rather it never happen again. The dragon that Augustine appears to be keeping is bad enough on his mentality. But it wasn't bothering him personally, so he'll treat it like any other hallucination and keep an eye on it.]
Besides, what if you set off something worse, like a trap where the ceiling crashes down or something? Even I know you can't afford to be that careless.
no subject
Was there any indication that something like that would occur?
[The ceiling trap or the scarabs animating and spitting biologically impossible fire. It seemed...slightly obvious now, but before? The scarabs just seemed like decorations in someone's tomb. The tomb of many someones, from all the skulls. The ever-burning torches were suspicious on their own, but there wasn't much else to extinguish the blaze.]
no subject
For now, he just strokes his dragon's snout before checking at the hieroglyphs once more.]
no subject
[Alright, maybe that's a little underhanded. But Orion feels it's a point that needs to be made.]
Honestly, the first thing I told you was to not set off any traps. And you went and did it anyway. I'm going to assume you weren't actually stupid enough to think nothing would happen.
