Boys In Not-Blue And Related Fields [Closed-ish]
WHO: Cops, CSI, Lawyers, Private Investigators, Judges, and Emil because he blackmailed his way in.
WHERE: Togusa's Apartment
WHEN: September 3
WHAT: Info-sharing, catching up new people, and coordination of what the hell the Recolle Police Department is going to do from here.
WARNINGS: Potential discussions of all the things that happened last month, so death, dismemberment, references to setting body parts on fire.
This meeting was originally going to happen on more neutral territory. Togusa was all set to steal one of the conference rooms at the station. But after one of their members has gone through another physical change, one she is quite self-conscious about? Togusa made the decision to move this somewhere more private and pull everyone over to his apartment. He has a multitude of reasons for doing this, primary of which is information. But it's also a way to connect everyone better, especially to Cleo and Naoto, to show them that they are a part of the force like all the others.
The apartment is spacious for only one person, enough room for everybody. Togusa has pulled out every chair he can get, and he's got stacks of drinks out for people. Please don't mind the white miniature schnauzer who will sniff at the ankles of anyone. He is very calm, but has a little bit of a limp on his front left paw. He will try to climb up into any lap that sits still.
Random items throughout the apartment may still have plastic googly eyes stuck to them, either because Togusa hasn't found them yet, or (like the bottle-opener) he left it that way because he thought it was funny.
They're here to discuss business, and Retrospec, but Togusa's home is still open for them to socialize, as well.

There is pure frustration on Togusa's face. "No matter how much I want to personally bash Jim's head off a wall for putting my friends in danger, sending a god damn severed arm in the mail, putting-" words fail him as he is thinking of the bare details he got out of Dante. He runs a hand through his hair. Breathe.
"I'm not arguing this because I dont care. Much as you do. We have to play the long game on this. Take out Jim without knowing how they're doing this? Somebody else sits in that seat and starts the game all over again."

"Retrospec and their colleagues will have their day in court but right now, we need to gather as much information against them here and now." He pauses briefly. "We might not get another chance. You know this, Togusa." If they have anyone on their current team who have great hacking skills, maybe they can hack into the Retrospec servers and steal intel if there's nothing physical to swipe.

Matt taps the top of his cane as he thinks. "Damning evidence is what we'll need in the end if this ever goes to court. Hopefully the large number of witnesses would be enough alone. Juries and judges like material evidence the most though. If we could record video or pictures and keep them from getting erased for example."
"As for hacking their servers, if anyone can do it, Mariko can." He avoids looking towards her, well aware of how awkward it is for him of all people to say in front of the crowd. "She's the most skilled hacker I've ever met." Especially the compliment. "Whenever we next have access to the building I also suggest keeping an eye out for any other means of accessing the building. Air vents, stock room doors, the typical. -In case we need to get inside during an emergency and the front doors are locked."

"We-" Nope. Try that again. "I had a skilled prodigy try it. He wouldn't appreciate me dropping his name in a room full of cops," he shakes his head. "But he made it, all of the app storage seems to be on a cloud server, his guess was that it wasn't housed in the building, but as soon as he got anywhere, he got blocked by somebody more skilled, and got a joke video sent to his phone." OOC: our mods are the best
"His last communication with me, we were talking about exactly this, an alternate way into the building. He said he was going to try something. And then, when I checked in with him two days later? He was really surprised why a cop was coming to talk to him. And he didn't remember anything." It could have been chance, but Togusa's opinion might be obvious: Retrospec kicked him off the app for learning something.

He explains about the last hacker to dance with Retrospec and mutters a quiet 'damn' at the conclusion. She's not terribly surprised that it went badly; these people can wipe and alter literally anything about a person, from what she's gathering.
"Well, I'll have a little more protection if I keep communications about anything I do offline. Did he have any records? Maybe a tower that he backed up everything to?"

"I could tell you where to find him. But, be careful. He's twitchier than me."
