WHAT: YOU ARE BEING RICK ROLLED. If you have CR with ANY of these characters, please respond with a short description of what they are doing at home on a Wednesday night before this group drops by and ruins it.

Tatsuo arrives at Recolle Square a few minutes before seven. Once everyone has gathered, he smiles and steps forward.

"Alright, thanks for coming everyone. As myself or Dante may have told you, we are going 'caroling.' But if we have to suffer through singing this song, we might as well make our friends suffer with us. We'll start in Apprassage and then work our way around to the other districts. So if we're somewhere and you have a friend that lives nearby, just shout out and we will go descend like a swarm of locusts.

Also..."

Tatsuo holds out the plastic bag he's been holding. Inside are a bunch of cheap $1 Santa hats. He grins.

"Technically, the square does say 'caroling'."

[HOW THIS WILL WORK OOCly: CR posts a toplevel. Assume they heard a knock on their door and see people outside. 2 individuals from the group will come 'sing' in order to keep threads from getting too congested. But feel free to hijack. This is meant to be ridiculous. If you then want to join the party (because why wouldn't you), feel free.]

[ Mafuyu knows like... maybe two of these people, in passing, and one of them in disguise. But this is fine. This particular Wednesday night, she's busy being a homebody; her parents are out working late and she's left to look after the house. A typical pizza rolls and pajamas night.

At the knock on her door, she flings it open and shouts ]

GO AWAY! I'M NOT BUYING ANYTHING!!

[ before seeing who it is and what they want, because screw you, door to door salespeople. ]

[Tatsuo takes a leaf from Mafuyu's book and shoves his foot into her door the moment it is open. Of course, this means Mafuyu also shouts right into his face. But he just grins at her and launches right into the song. Because there's no point in trying to explain what's going on, as it takes the fun out of all of this.]

[OH GOD now that he thinks about the lyrics, this is kind of terrible.]

[Tatsuma sings along cheerfully enough, even if his voice is... totally flat.

[He also clearly isn't bothered by spouting this nonsense, either.]

[ Mafuyu tries so hard to slam the door in these guys' faces but Tatsuo's foot is doing the job and her dog hears the commotion and trots out to add his enthusiastic barking into the mix, maybe he'll howl here and there. ]

[Quick, best get onto the chorus. The faster they can finish the song the faster this slightly awkward situation can end. He is so glad for Tatsuma's off-key singing though. It gives everything that extra degree of absurdity.]

[ Creamsicle comes out to see Tatsuma too! Her yowls are loud and the perfect musical touch as Mafuyu also starts yelling ]

[Sorry Mafuyu, there's still plenty of song left. Though, at this rate, they're probably going to attract the attention of any neighbors.]

[Cat!! If he crouches down, will she let him scoop her up again?]

[ Creamsicle gets picked up easily, but then wiggles out of his grasp to take residence in Tatsuma's hoodie that I'm almost positive he's wearing. Mafuyu continues to stand there looking equal parts horrified and betrayed. When will the song end so she can kill the both of them. ]

[Okay, so Tatsuo decides to take pity on Mafuyu and motions at the group to wrap up the song.]

There's nothing Mafuyu can do but stand there and memorize each and every one of their faces so she can find them later and murder them all in their sleep. ]

If you guys are santas, you should bring gifts next time. Like earplugs.

[Lalalala too busy singing even if he's trying to bring the song to an end. Just two rounds of the chorus to go!]

[Tatsuma doesn't answer, instead carefully walking up and turning around so Mafuyu can pull the cat out of his hood.]

Nah, it really is that terrible.

[ TERRIBLY EMBARRASSING. Mafuyu takes her cat back, goodnight. ]

[Tatsuo pulls his foot from the door and looks over at Tatsuma with a slight grin]

Guess, we'll have to find someone else to appreciate our attempts to entertain them.

I think the animals did.

[Close enough!]

[ he's not at home, he's pulling a late night in his office, and on hindsight, why on earth had he allowed himself to receive visitors at night?

he only knows two of the group? in passing? but yeah, as it is, they've gotten past the ground floor reception of the building by namedropping him probably and now he's got to deal with carollers in july. ]

[It's easy enough to get past reception--Dante turns on the charm and introduces himself to the receptionist on duty, leaning into the desk and dropping his father's name. Whether the person there knows who Andri Rantanen is or not is moot, as they might have google searched from their computer, but all Dante has to do after that is stress how big a fan Mr. Kaiba's father was and how the two of them had met each other multiple times and how he's got some very important messages to pass on... and their group is making its way toward the top floors and Kaiba's office.

Dante doesn't have the manners enough to knock at Kaiba's office door; that sucker is swinging open as Dante gestures for everyone to start singing so that he's not the only one carrying the tune as the doors reveal...]

baren hates this. he hates every second of this because this song is corny and old and he's tired and sleepy and wanted to go to bed but also he's pretty down to fuck around with his boss (one of his bosses????) so

[He is actually no stranger to this song, no pun intended. In fact, he always fell for this same song thanks to his one friend from college trolling him with that same song that is always hidden in his e-mails.

Of course, he never thought of singing it in front of an unsuspecting victim.]

slam his hands dramatically down on the table, sigh loudly and glare at the ragtag group of carollers

it's either they finish the song first or they leave first, because if it's for a dumb retrospec bingo square he'll let them claim it before he yells at them to get out ]

[In his honesty, Augustine feels bad at the man in front of him, unlike Dante. So when this is all over, he has to apologize about this.]

[There's some extra emphasis but on that last line, a smirk on his face as he directs it straight toward Kaiba. YOU MADE YOUR CHOICE.]

[what the fuck - this is where Baren is getting tired and just given Dante a stare and interrupting the song]

[When Bren interrupts the song, Augustine becomes very surprised at this turn of events. But since he doesn't want to let this end quickly, he decides to continue the song if he can.]

[ in what universe has it happened that Kaiba actually is finding that he agrees with Baren more often than not

because ya, what the fuck, really is pretty much his reaction towards this stupidity right now. ]

[ there's definitely more than thirty seconds left of the song and he's going to sound deceptively pleasant, actually. ]

Do you want the bingo square or not?

[It's a good thing Augustine's still singing, because otherwise it might have devolved right then and there! But Dante will join back in, keeping it going even as he raises a challenging eyebrow at Kaiba. What's he going to do, call security on them and complain that they're singing? Sure, he might be able to get them kicked out, but he'll still forever be known for having to call security to throw a bunch of carolers out of his office.]

Which is probably why he flips off Dante and - actually goes to hang out with Kaiba. Oh how the turntables have tableturned.]

[This is getting more awkward by a minute. Especially that he keeps singing the song for the sake of finishing this activity.]

[ good because it should be awkward, this is stupid, but ok baren coming over to his side is something that he didn't expect at all. ]

My private swat team is taking a day off. [ deadpan. DEADPAN. what makes you think he has a private swat team, baren. he's not rich enough for that yet.

he was also going to actually physically haul dante out of his office at least, since dante is physically smaller than he is and isn't a problem but. well. ]

The security button is there though.

[ what, if baren's going to press it instead of him, why not ]

[Dante's just flashing his phone at Baren, where the bingo square in question isn't checked off yet. Look, dude, until it's blacked out, you keep singing!]

[That being said, if Baren's going to be a turncoat and call Kaiba's security on all of them, Dante's ready to moonwalk out a window if he can...! It'd be pretty funny to see all of their reactions, if nothing else.]

[For one, Baren is assuming a lag.

Two, getting Dante hauled out of Kaiba's office by security for caroling the rickroll sounds way more fucking satisfying than completing a bingo.

Hence his unremorseful: ] 'kay!!

[and WITHOUT HESITATION HE HITS THE SECURITY BUTTON.]

[Well, this kiddie argument might not stop for a while as Augustine ends up being the only trying to sing the song with a straight face.]

[However, he then quickly stops when he sees what Baren just did.]

[ blink and you'll miss it but kaiba actually looks surprised by baren's sheer audacity in hitting the security button

There is a certain irony in this, because Togusa is at his apartment watching a Christmas movie tonight. He had gotten really obsessed with this television show about college students in a music conservatory while he was out sick and watched the whole thing. But then the damn show had to go and end without adequately resolving the tension between the romantic leads (in Togusa's mind). Ah, but then he discovered that there was a movie to cap the whole show off, and it happens to be a Christmas movie.

So right when he is leaning forwards on his couch, waiting to find out if the conductor and the pianist are going to finally kiss....
