cause the world might do me in [open]
WHO: Ami and OPEN!
WHERE: various locations around Tribunal Terrace and Apprassage
WHEN: Sunday, July 16, beginning at 8 pm
WHAT: Ami and several others embark on a ghost tour in and around downtown; some ghosts also make an appearance.
WARNINGS: spoopy stories could do u a frighten!
Revenants of Recollé is the longest-running ghost tour in town, and was recently voted the best for the fifth year in a row. The tour begins at their downtown office in Tribunal Terrace, a well-weathered building just a few blocks from City Hall.
Your guide for the evening is Edwin, a man at the upper end of middle age, sporting an impressive beard, dressed in period costume (although what period, precisely, is a little ambiguous), and carrying an old-fashioned glass lantern.
At 8:00, Edwin briefly goes over the rules of the tour - please remain with the group, don't touch anything, no alcohol or Ouija boards, and so on. Then he outlines the general route they'll be taking: past City Hall and the courthouse, through the Recollé Cemetery, looping around 9th Avenue to the Abernathy Hotel, and finally up into Apprassage, concluding at the Old Museum. (Obviously there are more stops than just those three, but those are the most interesting ones.)
By 8:15, the walk has begun. No turning back now!*
*I mean, you could turn back, but then you'd miss out on all the spoops.
((note: Ami did post a thing on the network earlier announcing this, but no signup is required!))

and she's in no hurry to go anywhere, much as she would need a ride, but the girl that had invited her just had to go say something to make her curious enough to stick around. ]
What, seriously? [ Yin put her hand up to her eyes and peered on ahead, seeing if any of the shadows moved. ] I don't see anyone.
no subject
Ami's words, though...] I don't, either.
Are you trying to prank us?

[ Ritsu folds his arms. He's previously made it clear to Ami already how he could see and talk to ghosts himself, so he thinks it's a given that he need not answer her question directly. ]
What if it's the vengeful ghost and not one of the victims? Looking closer might get us cursed.
no subject
[ Yin paused on that note. ] I mean, what if that's part of the bingo card? I've got one spot like that.
no subject
[She looks back up again just in time to see the ghost slide away from the window.] If you guys can't see it, that tells me it's a spirit. As opposed to, like... somebody who broke in.
[But to Ritsu's question:] I don't know. It didn't look shadowy or cursed or anything. [a sudden thought-] Do you think... if it's the curse that has them bound in there, they could need our help!

For the sake of argument, let's assume that the story about the pharaoh's curse is true. Nobody was killed at the museum, correct? Then any spirits in the place would logically be that of the pharaoh, and we'd be inviting misfortune.
[A sigh.] Assuming, at least, that ghosts and apparitions have any sense of logic.

At least we'd be doing it for a good reason, though, right? We're not going in there to do drugs or fight or anything. It's not the same.
Anyway, we already know ghosts don't necessarily stay where they died. If they did, where did the guys at the cemetery come from?

So firstly, I suppose we should promise none among us are going to say a thing.

[She sighs, and pinches her nose.] That said, it does seem like something of a victimless crime, doesn't it? Very well.
no subject
Ahem... I'm sorry, I meant to say you look pretty young to be working with law enforcement.

[Meanwhile, Yin will find something better than a lock: a hole in the fence! It's partly hidden behind weeds, and there's a sheet of plywood propped up to hide it further (which really just makes it easier to spot), but it's easily big enough for an adult to slip through. Unsurprisingly, this is not the first group that's ever broken in.
But she may want to move quickly. The glow of a flashlight makes it easy to see where the security guard is, patrolling the outside of the fence. He's not nearby, and there's enough overgrowth in the yard that, if the group goes within the next minute or two (and stays low), he won't see them. But he is coming their way, that's for certain.]

Ride or die, people. C'mon! [ whether everyone is in on this or not, Yin ducks her way through the hole without hesitation. ]
no subject
Naoto sighs.] Professionally, probably. Legally, no. [But as Yin is pushing the wood out of the way, she pinches the bridge of her nose again.] Then again, I suppose I'm equally obligated to make sure that nobody gets hurt or breaks something.
[So she follows the older girl.]
no subject
Ahh, wait for me! [Ami follows through the fence as well, being very careful not to snag her borrowed dress on anything.]
