WHAT: Mako wants to have a conversation with the guy who outran him.

[going over records does have some positive side effects. Namely, he's pretty up to date on things that tend not to have anything to do with him. So, seeing that man's mugshot and in-processing sheet provides an interesting chance to have a conversation with the only person who's ever actually given him a run for his money.

He approaches the cell, having traded his beat with a guy who needed a day off.

It was stuff like this that was probably why his supervisor wanted to move him to nightshift.

[ Oh, it's that overeager parkour cop. When Mako looks into the cell, he will find Yato seated in uniform and openly fiddling with a badly outdated flip phone, its charger coiled up nearby. Yato doesn't even attempt to hide either thing. ]

You? Wouldn't've taken you for prison security.

[ Yato doesn't have any hard feelings toward Mako. Just a cop being annoying. Yato's pretty sure it's in their job description. ]

[the job description, as a matter of fact, does mention being a supreme annoyance to ne'er do wells. So, it's good that he's done his job in that respect, at least.]

[ He clicks around on his phone for a moment before turning it around for Mako to see a familiar picture blown up on the screen. ]

[ Yato doesn't care about his sentencing when he's pretty sure he can sneak out on his own whenever he wants... ]

I wasn't. If anything, I was solving a problem. And as I seem to recall, I wasn't the one who trespassed onto a private residence.

Did you get in trouble for that one? Someone had to have complained.

And no one complained. [he snuck out before getting caught, that's all there is to it. but whoever it was was kind of stupid for leaving their window open.

[he sounds disbelieving, honestly. He wants to know more about this guy-- not share more about himself.]
