[closed] what if all the world's inside of your head?
WHO: Sorey, Mikleo, & Lailah
WHERE: Lailah's house
WHEN: Some weeknight that the kids have off
WHAT: Anticipating a normal family dinner, instead... Retrospec gets involved.
WARNINGS: None!
[It's not unusual for Sorey and Mikleo to drive back to their childhood neighborhood and check on their parents. They appreciate the space they got by moving out, of course, but there's something to be said for going home and having someone else cook for once. Retrospec might be making the city crazy, and Sorey has a lot on his mind... but with his mom or with Mikleo's mom, it always feels like things are going to be okay. It's business as usual no matter what. If Sorey is weak for seeking that out, then he's fine with that. Memories of a different life don't mean anything if he ignores the people he has right in front of him.
It's one of these nights that he pulls up on the street in front of his boyfriend's childhood home (right next to his own). He waits for Mikleo to get out before locking up the old station wagon.]
It's been a while, hasn't it? I guess I lost track of time. [He places his hands on his hips.] Let's go see what's for dinner!

He gets out of the car and stretches his arms a little before walking around to his boyfriend's side. A wry smile lifts his lips.]
Or you really didn't want mom fussing and cooing over us.
[Mikleo hooks an arm around Sorey's like an old-fashioned couple, his eyes dancing with amusement. He leads his best friend to the door and knocks politely, at least.]

Mikleo! Sorey! [ Anything that seemed to be on her mind of confusing her seems gone for now as she focuses on the two boys before her. Warmth and joy filling her eyes with crinkles to the corners of them, a wide smile blossoming on her lips as the door opens wider. ] Really now? Knocking? Come in, come in! You haven't lost your key, have you?
You're family, you should know better! [ It's all soft and gentle scolding coming from Lailah. Really, they could just open the door and let themselves in without wait as they should. This was still their home no matter where they lived. That's something that would never change.
The young mother ushers them in with just a little fuss so they're inside and then pauses once so to give them a good look. ] Look at you both, you're too adorable!
[ Some giggles pass her lips, a hand held in front before she seems to hesitate for a moment with a glance over her son. It seemed so natural before, as she thinks back, as to how it never seemed to cross her mind but now... ] I didn't think you'd get into your rebellious phase so late, Mikleo. But if that's what you like!
[ Dyeing his hair from the brown color before.. it was always brown, why would she even consider it being this color naturally? That wasn't right.. goodness, her head has been a bit of a mess all day. Must be the age. She shakes her head, not allowing much of a response to that just yet as she starts hurrying to the kitchen. ] Oh, right! Dinner! Why don't you both sit down? I'll get us served and we can get caught up, yes?

[And here's the usual, Lailah fussing over them and Sorey getting embarrassed because his mother is a teeny bit more reserved. It's true. He can't handle the cooing. He's already blushing and rubbing the back of his head. Thankfully, the subject changes...
... though the topic surprises him. He glances at Mikleo, unsure of how to proceed.]
Rebellious phase? [He isn't sure how to tell Lailah that he's had it like that for a couple of months. And it's not dyed.
That's when she hurries off to the kitchen. Sorey lowers his voice and leans toward Mikleo. They should probably volunteer but--]
Did she say anything about it before...?
