[ It's been a while since Lucian has ventured into the forest. The beach would have been a better place to catch the breeze, but it was crowded and certainly not a good place to be discreet. The woods had much less people, and he deemed it safe if he kept to the fringe, within sight of the main road. There are some things that he must ascertain for himself, now that many people have reminded him to take time out for personal use.

So it is in a sparse clearing that he stops, a man with pure white hair amidst the trees and the quiet of the forest. For a few moments, all is quiet - before a pair of pale wings glimmer into existence behind his back. He maintains a relaxed posture while he unfurls them to their full length of four metres, feeling the breeze stream through them.

As much as this is supposed to remain unseen, he doesn't take much of an effort to ensure that nobody tails him. If you're curious, this might be something easy to spy on. Given that the woods have lost half their colour, his wings and hair are more than just slightly obvious. ]

[ Night has fallen, a calm sort of evening that brings with it stifling heat. Lucian makes his way through the streets of Enprise, his hair tied in a low ponytail and left thrown over one shoulder. There's a certain sense of purpose that draws him to the goldworks stores that occupy one particular street corner. He'll either be in the watch atelier or the jeweler, eyeing pieces themed after twinkling stars.

For those who know him, expensive accessory stores are not places that he would usually step foot in. And for those who don't, it seems like he's lingered here for a little time. The assistants hover a short distance away, unsure of whether to approach someone who's scrutinizing their wares with a distant look on his face. If anything, it wouldn't hurt to say hi. ]

[ Throw me anything and I'll roll with it! Lucian mostly keeps working hours, but he's out of his office a lot more this month. ]

[ Given how enthusiastic the young ones were about the bingo, it ended up piquing a lot more of Lucian's interest than he initially planned to allocate. Since he also set the task of taking more time out to socialize for himself, he figured it would be good to accomplish both at once.

So here he is in a cafe as opposed to his office, seated at the table with a pot of tea brewing while he waits for Minako to arrive. As well as a board game. ]

[Minako bounces into the cafe with her usual amount of energy and said board game tucked under her arm, sliding into the seat across from him with a beaming smile.]

Hi Lucian! You kind of surprised me, asking me to bring this, but I won't complain about getting to play a game together~

[ It's a slightly familiar game, if anything else. ]

It is always good to try new things, I would believe. Have you had lunch?

[ If not, they could order something. ]

Not yet! [A quick glance at her wristwatch has her wincing around a smile.] Oops, I should probably eat. Here, why don't you set up the game and get familiar with it while I order something?

I can. Pick something you like.

[ If it's possible, he'll try to pay for it. ]

[ It's been a while since he's able to meet the youth for a casual gathering, which made it all the more important to rectify it as soon as he could. And what better way to do it than sharing an investigative fun activity? It should benefit both their health, in his opinion.

One would usually not expect an older man and a youth to hang out at a restaurant wearing clothes out of the norm, but here they are. He's elected to wear a top hat, for good measure. Given that the restaurant is a family-run one, they should have no problems with their visit.

Now, what to order? ]

[ It's later in the month after Ryoji's eyes couldn't decide what color they wanted to be and he'd gone from dead to living to dead again— the initial shock had given way to hope, then disappointment, then acceptance... He'd spent two weeks stepping in somebody else's shoes before returning Dave's powers, but in return, there's a little more appreciation for what Ryoji has: he can still have fun, like this, sitting in a restaurant with a friend while wearing a cape too hot for summer and a crown made of plastic and stick-on jewels. And he can eat whatever he wants.

Meaning, straight to the dessert menu. ]

Have you tried the Charlotte russe?

[ Ryoji can be whatever Ryoji wishes to be - in Lucian's eyes, he'l always be himself, radiant and beautiful in liveliness. A shine that had dimmed in the youth, but luckily rekindled. ]

I have not. Would you recommend it?

[appraiser]

[ Thank you Lucian for always believing in him; it's terrible because at this point, he's going back and forth between wanting to be a pilot or nurse or astronaut or stay at home dog owner ]

I would! It's ladyfinger cookies around custard, topped with raspberries or another fruit of your choice.

[ He'll figure it out. Somehow. ]

Then I shall try it as well.

[ But before they order, he wants to make sure they've decided on everything they'll have. ]

[ The breeze on the beach is enough to dissipate some of the heat, so it felt only right to make use of the clement weather to investigate. Rather kind of Retrospec to combine clues with mundane tasks - while it's impossible for him to complete all of the squares, it's worth at least trying some.

So it's on this rare off day that he invites Juzo out, dressed in a polo shirt and some form of sunhat. He only needs to wait at the rendezvous. ]

[It's a nice change of pace, to say the least. His work itself is rather time-consuming, not to mention playing that stupid game of bingo. Juzo himself doubts that going for all the bingos is possible for him, but maybe for the first time in his life, he's trying so hard to accomplish something.

Once he spots Lucian, he holds up his hand in a greeting. Today, Juzo went with a white t-shirt with red boxing gloves print, shorts, and sunglasses.]

Hey, sorry for the wait, I overslept.

[At least he's honest...]

So, what are we up to?

[ Ever a fitting attire for the summertime. It can be quite hot, but Lucian would not ditch his British style of dress for anything in the world... so he will have to content with a bit of extra heat. Not that he's the type to sweat easily, though. ]

I thought of taking a walk. I have not had the peach pops in quite sometime, shall we go?

[ No judgment on oversleeping, nope. ]

[Lucian...true to his beliefs and his British style.]

Yeah, sure...why not.

[He can feel the no judgment and it's embarrassing. Next time he's going to set up ten alarms just to make sure he won't be late.

(He'll be late anyway.)]

It's been a while...how is it going? Did anything weird happen in the meantime?

[ Welcome to Lucian's no judgment zone. ]

I have been fine. There were some changes, but nothing of life-threatening urgency.

[ 'Fine' is an understatement, but. ]

The turn of summer usually brings more people afflicted with overexposure to the sun, but it seems less so this year.

[ Perhaps riding a chocobo would be something out of his ability, but it felt like the season to be taking calculated risk had fallen upon the city. And the prospect of getting answers was worth considering, as always - which is why Lucian finds himself at the chocobo keep, eyeing the birds curiously.

Nothing like horses, which he rode a decade ago. It may be challenging.. and he does need a partner to finish this square with, too. Perhaps someone around can help him. ]

[Marinette's here too, reaching out slowly towards a chocobo. She hesitates, but it obviously likes the attention, so it allows the petting and nudges against her hand a little. She giggles before realizing she's not alone, and turning to the man she'd met before.]

[ He definitely remembers her, the girl in their duo of art and music. ]

Yes. Do you like them?

They're beautiful! I've seen them around, but I've never tried to ride one or anything before.

[she remembers this sucker too]

I think they're pretty hungry, they've been a little nippy.

[ It had been surprisingly easy to connect with the young people he had made acquaintance of, something Lucian is eternally grateful for. The bingo definitely helped, one good thing in these Retrospec times.

So here they are at the Recolle Animal Shelter. Souji had probably gone on ahead to look at the cats, which leaves Lucian to look for him there. ]

[ Animal shelter!! Just the place that Souji wants to be. He definitely heads over to the cats first, smiling and seeing if they'd be willing to play with him a bit. ]

It's hard not to adopt them all.

[ As for Lucian, he'll approach - but not too close, as to not scare the cats. ]
