WHAT: Wanting to find out a little more Ritsu decides to play this game of bingo and hopefully get some answers.

"Exactly. That's what has been plaguing me about this. How can we be sure that we are the realist versions of us? That is how we act, and if we don't act that way... then we don't act at all. It is truly an interesting predicament, and perhaps the one that people are least thinking about." [She's smiling, and she seems relaxed, yet that couldn't be further from the truth. This line of thought is... something to her, and she knew that the further she thought on it, the more that feeling would increase. Something was off about all of this, things weren't lining up, and there was something she knew that she was missing about all this.]

[It was a pretty scary thought to lose yourself...the self you've known your whole life. It makes it like you were always living some kind of lie.]

What would you do?

"...What can you do? If you're slowly losing yourself without any control, you can't fight it. You just have to slowly watch it happen. And you know, you might not even realize it. It could be a slow process of change, or you might just one day wake up as another person. It is unnatural, it is terrifying, and Retrospec is to blame." [This time, there was no veneer of casualness. She clearly was anxious about this, and the concept alone brought upon her a sense of helplessness that was utterly paralyzing. But of course, after her mask slipped for a bit, it came back with a small chuckle.]

"Of course, that's assuming that these memories have the caps ability to change us like that."

Saying it that way really does sound like it's a slow brainwashing?

[Even as calm as Ritsu was he could see he was getting worried about this...but more about her she seems to be hiding some of her feelings on this matter.]

Guess so...but there really is no telling?

"Yeah. Slow brainwashing sounds about right. But hey, least you might get cool superpowers out of the deal or something. Though I doubt that makes up for anything."

[She chuckles slightly.]

"And yeah, I guess so. No way of telling until it happens."

...Powers?

[He might be looking at her like she's a little crazy.]

"Yeah. Apparently Retrospec can give you superpowers or something. Did you not hear about that?" [Of course, there were also weird lovecraftian powers people could apparently get but she thought having superpowers was the only good thing to come out of this. They were cool enough.]

...that sounds more insane than the memories?

[Ritsu isn't sure about how that would even happen? Like waking up with powers would be alarming to say the least.]

[storytelleroftime]

"Yeah, but it's happening. I have no idea how, but it is."

[And honestly trying to be rational about it just gave her a headache, so she had elected to accept it and move on.]

Did you get powers?

[That is a lot to take in...no wonder she got a headache.]

[storytelleroftime]

"No. I mean, I could definitely have that happen, but I haven't yet, at least." [Which was a small comfort to her, at least. Not having weird superpowers suddenly appearing for her would make things all the worse, as far as she was concerned. But hey, they might be cool or something, and she would personally enjoy being able to fire lasers or whatever. Didn't make them less inconvenient.]

It might be cool...like magic or something right?

[Who knows what type of powers different people might get? It was going to be really interesting to see.]

"Yeah. But apparently people have gotten demon arms and ink blood so, it's not all good." [Though, there were probably worse out there than even that. Truly the depths of torturous superpowers were an utterly fascinating subject she honestly needed to delve further into.]

...that is scary.

[Ritsu is now thinking it would be fun to see who might have gotten powers and what they were.]

"Yeah, but I mean... hey. I'm pretty sure that's the minority of people."

[Not everyone here had Lovecraftian Superpowers. Because as much as they were interesting to Maggie she really did not want to have them herself. She instead wished to enjoy other people's suffering.]

Heh, still it is cool too. I doubt I will get something like that.

[Besides the whole...vampire thing, which he isn't aware of yet. For now he is normal...well as normal as he can be.]

"Yeah, the same."

[Well Maggie, you're gonna become an elf, a 14 year old, one of the strongest magic users that existed in your world, and an immortal. I'd say that's a pretty alright deal.]

[...that is a pretty good deal, damn.]

[I mean you can debate the becoming an unaging 14 year old part of that but overall yeah.]

"Yeah. Guess we just have to find out."

[Yeah...that would suck and at a pretty young age.]

Guess so...I mean I'm sure some people have some crazy stories!

[Yeah but I mean discounting that pretty good deal overall.]

"Probably. I mean, we'll probably learn whatever those are naturally."

[It is a great deal...Ritsu has the whole "vampire" thing with his brother.]

Yeah...though I wonder if any will get powers that can break something in retrospec?

"Well, maybe someone who can control technology. Or phase through walls. Or... something, there's a lot of ways."

[Which Maggie will spare Ritsu from listing in full.]

...Anything that could find out secrets, right?

[storytelleroftime]

"Well, lots of things for that. Telepathy, is an obvious example. Or perhaps someone with clairaudience. There's... really a lot of ways to use powers to get info out of them but I don't think anyone has stuff like that yet that we know of. And even if they did, Retrospec might have found ways to ensure they can't be used against them."

[Would make sense after all, given how many people want them dead.]
