open || greek fire from the sea of her soul

WHO: Minako and YOU!
WHERE: Peach Beach late at night, Birch Hills apartment complex in Apprassage
WHEN: All month, excluding certain event days
WHAT: Feeling like she's going down a path of no return, Minako tries to summon the two beings that have recently settled into the depths of her soul...and on a more lighthearted note, she also gets involved in cosplay.
WARNINGS: Hints of Persona 3 related suicide and death. For anyone tapping into the Persona threads, I will be writing Seth in prompt 2 by default, but Card is also available to write Thanatos!Ryoji if you want your character to interact with him instead, most likely as an accidental summon on Minako's part. Let us know if you'd be okay with threadjacking or even a complete three-person thread if you want to go that route. Oh, and if you'd like an Evoker thread and a Persona thread all in one, please mention that in the header too!

I. I CHOOSETH THIS FATE OF MY OWN FREE WILL
Evoker use; Peach Beach late at night

[Okay, Peach Beach at night should have less people around than Hollingberry Fields at night, right? Right. Or so Minako tells herself, staring out into the ocean with her Evoker in her hand. The scenery is all wrong, but there's definitely no way she's pulling the stunt she's about to pull anywhere in public. Nobody needs to freak out over her looking like she's about to shoot herself in the head.

Because that's exactly what it looks like, the Evoker cradled in her palms and then lifted to her temple with an audible click of its mechanisms in her right hand. Her left is clutching at her wildly beating heart, and her finger is on the trigger. Her visions tell her that this won't end in death, logic tells her it can't because the gun doesn't fire bullets. But she's almost hyperventilating anyways, so so so afraid that she's making a mistake.

But she has to know.

Do you catch her before she pulls the trigger? Or are you drawn to the area by her cry?]

II. YOU'RE GONNA HEAR ME...

[Or maybe it's none of the above, and you encounter her mid-summon. Her head violently jerks to the side, the sound of glass shattering, and where one would presume a bullet would escape, there's instead what looks to be glowing blue fragments, suspended in the air. The wind picks up around her in a self-contained tornado, and a figure bursts into existence behind her with a deafening roar.

Seth, the fire-breathing dragon, spreads its wings wide as it responds to Minako's voice, head thrown back to gaze on the moon that represents its Arcana before throwing all its fury and weight forward. An explosion of fire escapes from its mouth, parting the ocean water before them. And though it's right above her head, hot enough for her to feel like her skin is blistering, Minako doesn't flinch. She kneels wearily on the sand, yes, Seth snapping his jaws shut to return the fire to the furnace after a few moments, but she doesn't flinch.]

Maragidyne...sure takes a lot out of me. Was that four or five in a row?

III. CARD CAPTOR SAKUYA
Cosplay progress; Minako's apartment

[It might be that you don't even realize all of this Persona stuff is happening late at night, and instead you encounter Minako right outside her apartment on a sunny day. She'll be either practicing cosplay poses or perhaps walking around in a pretty white dress, and while how finished it looks depends on what time of the month you stop by, she'll be more than happy to show off what the end product is supposed to look like by practically sticking her phone in your face.]

It's Card Captor Sakuya! You know, the magical girl anime. Kiyomitsu-kun is helping me make it, but I'm breaking in the heels right now.

...honestly? I don't know what the other Minako was fighting for. She was saving a few people, yes, but my visions show her working towards something else even more important than that.

[She smiles ruefully, twisting her hands in her lap.]

So who's to say if it's important enough or not to mime my own death? It might very well be, even if I don't like it.

You don't even know, and you're willing to repeat such here?

[She sounds crushed, honestly.]

I am aware it is not my place to say any of this, but... Even so, I cannot bear to see this, even knowing it is fake.

[This has her looking up. Minako places a hand over Cleo's, trying to comfort her and herself.]

It's okay, Cleo. Anyone would feel the same. I would too, if it were one of my friends with it. But...mm, it's hard to explain. This other Minako's memories, they're part of a story I need to know. I'm terrified that I'm being set up to be just like this other Minako, and it's. It's really, really hard for me to distinguish between the two of us sometimes, even when I don't feel like I measure up to her other times. But I'm choosing to go through it anyways, because this power of hers I have now...

I want to use it for everyone's sake, just like she did.

[When it's said like that, she can't possibly argue against it.

Crestfallen, she lowers her head.]

I understand. But please... Be careful. With your experimenting, and with your power, and with all Retrospec gives you.

Of course. I promise you I will. [She smiles gently.] Retrospec might be giving me all this power, but it's me who decides how to use it. I've already decided that.

[Even if, right now, she's scared of it at the same time.]

Besides, if I'm not careful, and I hurt myself, I'd have a lot of people to answer to.

You would. Myself chief among them.

[... It's meant to be encouraging, like a show of solidarity, that Cleo cares and doesn't want anything to happen to Minako. She's just very awkward at this.

She finally holds out the gun to return it.]

[Luckily, Minako is well-versed in hidden meanings behind words thanks to Lucy, and she just breathes out a laugh.]

I'm really happy to hear that, even if you'd essentially be kicking my butt if that ever happens.

[The scene in her mind (a chibi Cleo punting a chibi Minako to the moon) is amusing enough that Minako doesn't feel her heart sink into her stomach as she takes back the gun.

This is her choice. And she has people who support her choice. She might not be alright right now, but she will be.]

Kicking people's butts is what I'm good at.

[She lets out a soft breath, amused. If only she could see that mental scene, she'd correct it to the chibi Cleo picking the chibi Minako up, putting her in bed, tucking her in, and sitting on her like a shitty cat until she stops trying to do things.]

There's no need for thanks. You are my friend.

That's even more of a reason to say thank you, in my opinion!

[She slides the gun into her purse. Now that it's out of sight, it'll be easier to put it out of mind, and Minako flops down onto the sand to stare up into the night sky and do just that.]

Because if you're friends, it's easier to take the things other people do for granted, and forget to say it.

Ah... Is that how it is?

[look she's never had friends before.

but at the very least, she's going to sit down quietly next to her.]

Regardless... I am happy if I could be of help.

That's how I feel, at least. Maybe some other friends know each other well enough to know that there are other ways to say thank you...but for me, hearing it is important too.

[She takes another moment to trace the dots of light against the black sky, then turns to Cleo.]

Just promise me you won't tackle me so suddenly again?

I promise... As long as you aren't in danger. I don't normally go around tackling people unless I have to, you know.

[so if she sees an actual gun to minako's head, she's definitely going to tackle her again.]

Duly noted!

[She thinks that, with all the fighting abilities and magic and knowledge that people have been getting, there's definitely a chance of some danger on the horizon...but that's then and this is now.

She lets out a mighty yawn, barely managing to cover her mouth.]

Mmm, probably time to head back. Want a ride home, Cleo?

I suppose it is late...

[She laughs a little, honestly. This has been so ridiculous, she can't possibly feel tired now.]

I appreciate the thought, but I took my bike here.

I'm so tempted to ask you for a ride... [A regretful sigh.] But I shouldn't keep you.

[She shakes her head.]

I don't mind. If you would like a ride, then I'd be happy to.

[Well twist her arm.]

Maybe just a quick circle around the block?

As you wish.

[She pauses, thinking.]

You'll have to use my helmet, though.

...will you be okay without one?

I'll drive safely. I'm pretty good at driving, after all.

[She still looks uneasy, but she nods and straps on the helmet.]

Okay, ready when you are.

Hold on tight.

[She nods, and, well.

She takes off, and if she's showing off a little, you can't really blame her, can you? Taking some tight turns and some fast acceleration to show off, it's fine, she's fine.]

[Minako holds on tight, but she still doesn't expect the hard jerk of the motorcycle, letting out a yelp and then a laugh.]

This is AMAZING!

[Minako, don't yell in the streets in the middle of the night.]

[Without her helmet, the grin that spreads across Cleo's face is easily visible, and almost palpable. She has to raise her voice to reply to Minako, of course, calling over her shoulder without caring about the time.]

If you're impressed by this, then shall I speed up?

Yes, please!

[As she says this, a flash of red hair seems to dart in her vision, and for a moment all she sees is an elegant woman's face, the embarrassed tilt of her senpai's head as she considers the ramen bowl in front of her.

Minako blinks hard to return back to the present, and she breathes out.]

...suddenly really hungry! Do you wanna get a midnight snack?!
