[OPEN] RECOLLÉ TREASURE HUNT

WHAT: It's time to go treasure hunting!

Four in One,
under eternal rainfall,
a ReVA event coordinator makes Five,
with clue #1 for you all.

Either by solving the above riddle, hearing the answer through the grapevine, or simply following the trickle of people gathering at the center of Recollé Square this early Sunday morning, one finds Ryoji circling the Founders fountain with a box tucked under his arm and a ready greeting for anybody that approaches him to get started on their hunt. To each team, he hands over a blank sticker and their choice of marker in any of the colors of the rainbow— red, orange, yellow, grey, grey, purple— to write down their name and their team name, along with a small white pin reading "TH 2017 Participant" in bold red. Both the name tag and the pin must be affixed somewhere visible on the front of each member's shirt before he hands over their clue.

Have fun, play hard, get on out of here and find that treasure!

Woah, that was really close, boss!

[Definitely much better than Tuuri would be able to do, anyway... she looks at the gun a little guiltily. She doesn't want to waste one of their shots, but they did say one for everyone...]

I mean, I'm going to be really bad at this, but I'll do my best...

[She holds it like she's mimicking a movie; there's no sense of familiarity when she handles it at all. Needless to say, her shot doesn't hit.]

Haha, I knew I should have gone hunting with Grandma.

[She glances to Emil, offering the gun if he's done with his shoes.]

[ Well, Emil has at least fired a gun before but that was a long time ago, and his grandfather had set it up for him; they'd shot at a deer at the break of dawn and had venison for dinner. This is nothing like that time, and he looks a little apprehensive when Tuuri hands him the gun.

But he did foolishly say one per person and he just thinks back to being a little kid with his grandpa looking through the scope for him and shoots.

Unsurprisingly, he misses... Oh well. ]

Let's hope you make it.

[ He hands the gun off to Kaz nervously, and shifts in his shoes. ]

Do you guys mind if we start walking towards the shops while solving the clue, by the way?? I think I need a pair of thongs.

[ He means flip flops. ]

[ majima raises an eyebrow skeptically. at a time like this emil???? ]

[ This is. A weird time. For thongs. But okay, Kaz is their last shot and they need to make this, so... Well, Kaz has played some shooters and he has the luck of a video game protagonist sometimes, so maybe he can do this.

He holds the gun as steady as he can and takes aim and fires, hoping for the best. Luck is on team Cool Cats' side today though, as the shot manages to land just a bit off the center. That's close enough, right? ]

Oh, I think I got it.

[ No such thing as recoil when you're this buff, I guess?? ]

Thongs are an underwear here. [Tuuri stage whispers "helpfully" to Emil, in a misguided attempt to spare him some embarrassment.

But she cheers when Kaz shoots it, pumping her fist in the air.]

You did it! That was so cool!

[Tuuri runs out to get the clue, unfolding it and staring at it as she walks back to the group. She holds it out for them to see once she's close enough.]

I think it's anagrams? I think the first one might be "glasses" but I have no idea what the others are.

Wait what?

Where do they call them thongs? [ he whispers back ] are they called jandals here??

[ He's still thinking about it when she gets back with the clue, and on the way to the car going to the shops ]

--Ah, I meant flip flops! I need new shoes!

[ OH NO BUT now they think that he would drag them to get new underwear with him. Maybe they think he wears thongs the underwear. But he would never wear thongs the underwear, why would he do that?? Not even to be funny, there's just no room and-- he's definitely still thinking about this during the drive as they try to piece the clue... ]

[ he peers over the clue with tuuri, following everyone back to the car. he's glad she figured out they're anagrams because he never would've thought that but now that she's said it... ]

Maybe it's all clothes? 'cause I think the second one is cravat.

[ Cool. Even a beginner can fire off a shot with enough luck, nice. Kaz leads them back to the car but he glances the list of jumbled letters before running his head over what the words could be. If they're all clothes... ]

Moccasins? The fourth one?

[ He's definitely got a pair of those, hey maybe they're not gonna suck at this one, after all. Now they just have to... sit in the car and figure this out. ]

Maybe we can find shoes on the way to the next place.

I’ve never heard of jandals before. [Oh well, Emil got his point across, anyway… she leaves him to his own quiet panic attack in favor of scribbling the answers (she brought a pen, she’s that kind of prepared) that they’ve identified down on the paper.] But whatever you want to call them, we can get them after we solve this clue!

[Or, you know, before; Tuuri just gets a little bossy when she’s in the zone.]

So the E, T, and S are highlighted when we write the clue in, and I guess that’s going to be the name of where we’re going? But I have no idea what the others could be… [She’s trying to jot out a few ideas on a piece of scrap paper, stuck on the second from the bottom—Adracing? Gradcain?] Do you guys know of any store called E-T-something-S-something-something?

Wait, clothes? Can I see that?

[ Of all the things that Emil is good at, he's pretty good at identifying clothing items... ]

I don't know any stores that start with E, but that's sweatpants, you can tell because it's got pant in it... And that must be cardigan... So R and W... Stew... R?

Maybe it's on the way to the Towers, I think there's a flip flop sale.

[ This boy is not smart. ]

[ look, sometimes accidental luck is all you need ]

[ honestly he doesn't really care about whatever the last clue is. ]

[ It's a good thing everyone else is so good at random word finds because off they go to the Towers! ]

Uh, what are we looking for here, exactly...?

Woah, there are a lot of people here... [Maybe this was a mistake? Surely they wouldn't put one of the points of the scavenger hunt at such a busy location...

But hey, once they're inside, the ReVA volunteer strongly encourages them to go through the charity run, so.]

That's fine! We can run it! Emil, grab some shoes and let's go!

[Yeah she's charging up the stairs already, this round of the scavenger hunt is gonna eat her dust.]

[ He grabs a pair of flip flops and tells the sales person that has sorry but he'll pay for them when he gets back downstairs, and could they watch his shoes and socks please! hands them his sandy damp shoes and then slips the flip flops on and starts sprinting up the stairs two at a time, easily catching up to Tuuri. ]

Can you believe these are only $3? They're so comfortable! I think I'm going to buy a second pair...

Oh shit, okay.

[ i mean majima and kiryu are super fit so getting to the top wont be an issue just... he was expecting them to have so much gusto. ]

[ Yeah for a couple of buff dudes, climbing the stairs is no problem. A little. Maybe.

Okay, Kaz woke up with muscles overnight, his stamina hasn't 100% caught up to him. They make it to the roof but boy is he starting to feel winded. ]

Is the clue here?

[Surprisingly, despite all the complaining Tuuri can do when the temperature gets above 70 degrees and she has to walk outside, her energy only "flagged" so much that she was walking up the stairs instead of running up them.]

Ha, we made it! [She sounds slightly out of breath, if at all. That was kind of fun!] Let's see, if I was a clue, where would I be... It can't be something that someone would buy, or something that would get in the way of the workers, so...

[Despite what she's saying, she's looking behind like, individual pieces of clothing hanging up, underneath tiny boxes...]

[ Emil stops to catch his breath at the top for a second, but otherwise is completely fine and joins Tuuri in trying to look for the clue, but his eyes are up a little higher, if she's going to sweat the small details.

He wouldn't put it past them to stick it on something hanging on the ceiling anyway, and he covers a lot of ground, which--

Wait, what's that on the bridge? He's been here enough times that he's pretty familiar with the layout and everything, and that over there is definitely not part of any display! ]

[ He goes to pull the paper free and unscrolls it, peering... ]

What is this berry called in English again? The Christmas one with the pointy leaves?

[ majima follows them, surprised by how long this thing is..... ]

Mistletoe? The fuck does that have to do with anything?

[ Kiryu peers around and glances over the scroll. Mistletoe isn't usually red, is it? ]

Mistletoe is white. I think that's holly... so maybe a Christmas store?

[ Those are a thing, right? The view from up here is pretty cool. ]

Hmm, are there any Christmas stores open in summer? [She starts humming 'deck the halls' briefly, as if it might contain the answer.] Christmas stores, boughs of holly, maybe a gardening store--

[Oh!]

Wait, what about Hollingberry Field? You know, with the pool! [she says extremely excitedly to Emil, because guess who's already been to the pool this summer even though it's barely June? THE NORDIC KIDS.]

Oh, the one with the pool and the farmer's market!

[ 'Cause guess who's poor as hell but goes to get fruit at the farmer's market because it's better?

And yeah, seriously, of course they go to the pool as soon as it's open, and complain about it not being open in spring when it's too hot for spring. ]

That has to be it! Let's go!

Race you down the stairs!

[ He'll also take out $6 for his flip flops, and the other pair he's going to grab on the way out! LET'S GET TO THAT FIELD! ]

Yeah, that's totally where it is.

[ ok yeah, theyre totally racing down the stairs. cool. cool cool cool. ]

[ Ah yes, racing down the stairs....... Kaz is in no way totally out of breath when they reach the bottom.

But hey you don't need breath to drive a car right?? OFF THEY GO TO HOLLINGBERRY FIELD... ]

So, what are we looking for now?

[Sure hope Emil actually paid for those flipflops instead of just throwing $6 at a store attendant as they ran through the security alar-- no they definitely didn't take the time to buy these flipflops properly. Not when they've got a field to go to.

Thankfully the sea of screaming children give them a pretty good idea of what to do next.] Hey-- that kid has the clue! [she says even as she's buffeted towards the playground equipment. She hops onto the monkey bars to get the kids to leave her alone, trying to scope out where that one kid went.] That one! Follow him!
