WHAT: just a bit of light kidnapping!
WARNINGS: none yet

[ Come February 6th, Zee's office is empty and locked. Which is pretty odd, considering he said he'd be available from now on.

Anyone interested in investigating further, though, may find a few clues near his office to look into. Like security footage on the street, or a discarded cup of coffee that didn't quite make it to a trash can.

Are you up for the challenge of finding out where Zee Carlisle has gone to?

[Li-Na shoots Derek an irritated look. Really, Derek.]

I agree with James. The moment you pull your wand out, Zee will know something it up and he'll just teleport out.

[then she glances at James]

So it'll have to be something subtle. If we can't convince him to go somewhere safe, something subtle that he won't even notice....

Well then Li-Na should bake him something and lace it with sleeping pills. It's too bad I don't know how to make a sleeping potion or something... Well... I do know one spell, but it is super unethical. So I'd rather not...

Yeah, let's keep away from being total monsters.

[ Like he has a moral high ground to stand on here. ]

But you're onto something. If Zee's knocked out, he can't squirm away from us. And he wouldn't take anything from me, probably, but Li-Na...

If we can get her to make something with sleeping pills slipped into it, we'll have him for sure.

Well... he likes vanilla. I could... put something in a drink? His body would absorb it faster than if I put it in a baked good.

[Li-Na, what did you expect when you were meeting with these two?]

So all we need is sleeping pills?

I could move his body once he's out. I got a spell that would make that relatively easy.

Anything works, as long as it knocks him out fast and can get dissolved into a drink.

The spell might help too. I was thinking I'd just haul him out myself but hey, if we can the magic to do it, then why not.

[Look, she expects something like this from James, but she thought you had more scruples than that Derek.]

How easy is it to taste sleeping pills though? And do either of you know how much Zee weighs? We don't want to give him too much...

[The mental image of James just... walking along with Zee slung over his shoulder makes her sigh.]

Derek, do you have any... I don't know, invisibility spells? The entrance to where Zee is... it's in the library. Even if we take him out the back, someone might see us.

I've... never actually met the guy. I've only talked to him through the app... so no idea how much he weighs.

[And snoop through his office with Tatsuo.]

Ah... does Zee's office have camera's? Do we need to find a way to disable them or at least block them?

[Like, we don't want to get caught right? Besides... Derek kinda has a spell for that... sorta.]

He's not that big--about my height, but slimmer. Probably around 150 or 160 pounds. However much it would take to drug a guy that size, I don't know.

And I don't know about cameras...I haven't been to this new office. His old one had a camera though--just one, and it had a lot of blind spots.

150... 160... okay, I'll do some research and see what I can find.

I want to say I hope he's gotten a few more cameras this time, only that would make it more difficult for us to take him away.

If we do have a camera problem, I do have a spell that can shoot spit balls at desired targets. So if needs be, I will cover the camera in spitballs.

[It's a crude and disgusting way to deal with the issue, but it works. No really, this is the method he used to not get caught while robbing a bank.]

[ Okay no not important. Stay on topic. He shakes his head as if clearing it. ]

Okay, fine, sure. We'll use spitballs if we need to. So the game plan is--we go to Zee's office, try to talk him out of staying, and if he doesn't come easy, then Li-Na gives him the food, we spitball the cameras, and we haul him out.

Sound good?

[ He has neglected to think about where they will haul him after that, but hey, planning was never his strong suit, and he's pretty pleased with himself for getting this far with it. ]

[Lucky for James he isn't doing this one his own, so Li-Na spots the need for some further planning.]

Wait. If we do have to do this--[kidnap Zee]--where are we going to 'haul' him? We can't take him back to my place. Leon's off the app.

[And Xiaolang would probably disapprove of all of this...]

Doesn't really matter whose spit. As long as there is spit.

[Derek waves a hand nonchalantly. He then points at Li-Na.]

There is my apartment. I live alone... Plus i have a car that we can toss him into. Though I do worry a bit about any neighbors hearing him make any nose. Kind of wishing I had a spell to deal with noise or not wanting someone to over hear what ever is going on...

[ While this is true, Derek, it's also: gross. You're gross. But hey, if it works. ]

Then we'll take him to your place. Li-Na and I both live with other people, so yours is the only option we've got. Dealing with neighbors who might notice something is way better than dealing with housemates who'll definitely notice something.

You have a spell that makes spitballs but not one to dampen noise?

[Li-Na raises an eyebrow. Your magic is ridiculous Derek.]

James is right though. Better to take the chance with the neighbors than with my family. And maybe there is a way we can sound proof your place some.

Of course, if he just... teleports away, we won't need to worry about the neighbors at all.

What? Even a professor used it in class to get rid of the school poltergeist from the classroom.

[ James rolls his eyes at Derek. Sure, why not. Spitballs repel the resident school poltergeist. That might as well be a thing.

But Li-Na makes a point he hadn't considered. ]

Damn, you're right--we need to find a way to keep him from teleporting too. But how do you keep a guy from using a power that's just a part of him?

[Li-Na presses her lips together. She can think of a couple options, neither of which she likes.]

[She looks over at Derek]

Have spells that would be useful for this?

[Derek starts to nod and open his mouth to respond when he gets this really annoying buzzing in his ear. What? His eyes scrunch up and he snaps his fingers near his ears. Nothing, all he can hear is the buzzing. As this is happening he remembers the spell that cause this. Muffliato, a spell that fills the ears of anyone nearby with an unidentifiable buzzing. He looks at James and Li-Na and start to talk. He thinks sound is coming out of his mouth, he just can't hear it. He tries saying, "I think I just remembered a spell, but it's making my ears buzz." But what is really happening is that he lost his voice and all Li-Na and James are going to see is Derek messing with he ears and no sound is coming out of his mouth. This is going to be going on for the next 5 minutes. Because not only did he remember Muffliato, he is going to remember Silencio in a minute here.]

[ James watches Derek for a few moments, confused. Eventually though, when he can see Derek's lips moving but hears no sound coming out of his mouth, he decides that this must be some Retrospec thing. Or maybe it's Derek's own magic gone nuts or something.

James sighs and smacks his hand across his face. ]

Great. Alright, do we have a pen and paper somewhere so he can maybe write out what he's trying to say?

[Sorry Derek, Li-Na is giving you the blankest of looks.]

No, no paper. But I have a cell phone.

[Here Derek. Have a text. Hope you can feel your phone vibrating.]

Derek. You are silent..

[Derek pulls out his phone and sees a text from Li-Na. He mouths "Why are you texting me?" It's when he reads the text, that his mouth drops. You've got to be shitting him! Derek stares at the screen."I'm silent?" Again no words comes out. It is then he gets another memory and then it all makes sense. He lets out a sigh and then texts both Li-Na and James.]

It's memories... I think. I just remembered two spells. Muffliato (makes people trying to listen in on a conversation have their ears have an annoying buzzing sound, which is happening to me right now) and Silencio (makes a person or anything else silent... which explains why I can't speak.

How log is this going to last?

And in response to Li-Na's earlier question: Kinda? have the full-body bind curse. That might stop Zee from teleportating.

[And send. Derek is hoping that these side effects ware off soon.</small]

[ He sighs, and exaggerates the motion of it for Derek's benefit, since he can't hear it. ]

[To both of them she texts:]

Muffliato and Silencio could keep the neighbors from hearing anything suspicious. So those are useful as well.

[She's not too wild about the idea of the full body bind. It sounds too much like tying Zee up. But since she's already agreed to drugging him... she doesn't think she has a foot to stand on anymore.]

[to Derek she also texts:]

Could be a week. That's how long it look for the pattern to go away on my legs and for them to stop collapsing on me.
