[CLOSED] we pray for the light to reign
WHO: Akira Turner (Light Yagami), Akira Kurusu, Goro Akechi, Yusuke Kitagawa, Elliot Craig, James Barnes, Tatsuo, Eren Jaeger, Derek Matthews
WHERE: Light Yagami's Murder Palace
WHEN: December 10th through December 25th
WHAT: Akira Turner AKA Light Yagami's ego has amassed in the creation of a Palace.
WARNINGS: Violence, talks of crime, death, punishment, murder
[ Upon entering the Palace, characters will find themselves...in Recolle. That's right--the Palace is the entire city of Recolle, his true domain. But what was once a city is now a desolate landscape. There seems to be nothing for miles and miles around, but if one looks to the east, something glimmers in the distance. Characters should go towards that light.
The trip may be long, but it won't be uneventful. There are a strange plethora of humanoid monsters that characters will encounter. Luckily, most seem uninterested in engaging with characters, however if they are taunted or goaded into action, they have abilities that drain the life from attackers.
Finally, the source of the light begins to become into view. It’s a temple, a large gothic cathedral, consisting of stories upon stories. The architecture inside matches the same theme, dimly lit hallways made of stone. It’s a maze with large open spaces as well as winding corridors. At first it seems generic, but the higher in the structure characters go, there begin to be clear indications of just what this temple worships. Yes, even in a hall of worship there is a big fuck off statue of Akira Turner in the center.
More of those gangly creatures may make an appearance in the temple, but characters really need to look out for the worshipers, who will destroy non-believers on the spot.
There is one creature in particular who is depicted in a lot of the art and will even make a physical appearance now and then. It tends to hang in the shadows, but if you entertain it, it may entertain a question or two. Just don’t bank on it. ]

[Tatsuo is right on James's heels, because he really doesn't fancy some six hour stint of kneeling and obeisances.
They're about halfway up the stairs when there's a bellow from below.
Come back here and purge your bodies of their weaknesses! Deny the limitations of your flesh if you wish to more perfectly follow the Light!
Oh yeah. They're definitely being followed.]
Well shit.

It's too big of a room to be the right one, though. So James quietly shuts it and moves on to the next silently. Better not to shout something to Tatsuo that will alert the worshippers in the room, even behind a closed door. ]

[Tatsuo meanwhile waits until the first worshiper chasing after them reaches the top of the stairs... then just shoves the guy down on the ones following after him. If anyone hears the multiple thuds or yelling... he can claim someone tripped ro something... right?]

He gets back to checking the rooms. On the last of the three rooms in this area, he swings the door wide open. It's the smallest worship room and, thankfully, it's empty right now. And what's more, the area of the room behind the preacher's podium looks different than in any other room he's seen so far. He doesn't know what it means, but it has to be another indicator that this is the right place.
He waves Tatsuo over. ]
Here, I found it!

[If they'd been real people and not figments of Turner's psyche, then he might have had some reservations about it. But they weren't real, so Tatsuo isn't going to pull punches.
He catches up to James and looks into the small room.]
Yeah, this looks different from the others. Worth checking out.
[He ducks into the room, because sooner or later, those worshipers he tumbled down the stairs are going to get back up.]

James sighs as he comes down from the energy of the chase and looks around. ]
...Okay. No heretic. Let's just start searching--they said he was locked up here somewhere. So maybe he's just being hidden.
[ Although he isn't sure where--there's not a lot of hidden nooks or crannies here. Still, he looks in the most obvious places first--in a cabinet full of relics and under each of the pews. ]

[Why the hell does he keep finding people with enhanced strength? It is patently unfair.]
Maybe there's another door...
[Tatsuo starts checking the walls. Under the ugly as sin tapestries, knocking on the stones, pulling at light sconces...]
no subject
But anyway. Another door. That makes a lot of sense. Why didn't he think of that first? Stupid. He gives up checking the pews and goes straight for the walls, knocking just about anywhere and everywhere, listening for...something. He actually has no idea how to check for secret doors, that wasn't exactly a part of Bucky's weird spy training he's remembered.
He lucks out, though, because when he taps on what he thought was just some decorative element behind the preacher's podium, the knock sounds different. Hollow. ]
I think I've got something!
[ James starts feeling around for the seams of the door--where does it start, where does it end? Where's the doorknob, or at least the hinges?
He loses his patience, though. He's not even sure if it has a doorknob. So screw this. He balls his left fist up and just punches straight through the door, using the splintered hole as a handhold to pull the door open. The new passageway leads down a dark staircase. ]
...Yeah, okay, this looks like somewhere they'd keep a heretic.
no subject
It definitely looks the most promising. Let's go say hello.
[And dooooown the dark staircase he will go.]

After a few minutes of walking down the staircase and through a dank, dark hallway, James squints and holds the torch out. He thinks he can make out the shape of a figure off in the distance, but he's not entirely sure. ]
I think I see them.
[ He keeps his voice down to a whisper in the hopes that only Tatsuo will hear. Sure, the heretic is an enemy of Turner's, and that means they should be an ally of theirs, but he can't really be sure. If nothing else, he'd like to be on guard and get closer before alerting the heretic to their presence. ]
