WARNINGS: Three-foot anthropomorphic lizards and a four-eyed cat, maybe, but that's about it.



[At some point early Friday morning, every single Retrospec user will receive a message from "eggs over easy" written in a bright blue font.]

hey! all-day marathon at flix in theater 4, my treat. because i like movies and everything is exhausting and movies are not. snacks provided, please don't feed the cat or the lizard. see you then!

[If you decide to head over there at any point on Friday, you'll be ushered into theater 4 and find a wide-spread set-up.

Movies on today's line-up include the Recollé version of "Your Name", "Jurassic Park", "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "The Empire Strikes Back", "The Lion King", "Gladiator", "Interstellar", "Emma", "The King's Speech", "Fantastic Mr. Fox", and if you ask nicely John will probably throw in a bluray of your choice. The running theme here seems to be movies with well-known scores or movies people have recommended to him.

As these movies are playing, half of the theater is meant for seating and the other half has been converted for snacks and mingling. There's a large spread of movie counter snacks along with some homemade cookies, sandwiches and more. Help yourself to these foods and be sure to share! If you're not careful, they may just turn into gold.

Every now and then, you'll run into a ghost or two who've decided to join in on the fun. These ghostly guests will ask all about the movies on screen and some will have very strong opinions. They might even share some secrets with you or tell tales about the premiere of these films if they were alive back then. The ghosts will also encourage you to mingle with other people (and luckily for everyone, John's put subtitles on all films so you can chat and still read what's going on on screen.)

In another portion of the theater there's a small set-up for those who want movies as background noise. There are small tables down in front and high in the back of the theater to eat, chat, and play board games and card games.

And don't even think about littering! If you're finished with your plates and your cups, a helpful young lady will be coming by to collect the trash and dutifully return to her "father's" side. John's…a little too thrilled having a three-foot tall lizard wandering around, but it's fine? Every now and then you can also find him carrying a small cat if she's not lingering around Dave instead.

It's a rotating cast of ghosts and people with different soundtracks throughout the day. Will you spend a couple of hours here?]

[Elliot is there like he said he would be! He greatly approves of all the movie choices, or at least the ones he recognized. He's one of those mostly invested in the soundtrack, honestly, so he pays the most attention when there's a great musical score moment.

Otherwise, he's open to talking. He's friendly to folks, living and dead, and willing to strike up a conversation. Though, the helpful young trash collector sure gets a look]

[John's being a proud father and watching after Casey, so when Elliot speaks up he happens to hear it. He grins though, gesturing with a little shrug.]

She came out of the mailbox a few days ago if you can believe that.

Ahaha....does it say something about my life that I can believe it?

What's her name?

It says something about either your life or mine. Maybe both. [There's a shrug though and he grins at the salamander.] Her name's Casey. She was one of my consorts from my planet.

[JOHN THAT IS A LIZARD.]

[He seems to realize his mistake a hair too late.] Not that kind of consort! That's just what they were called in the game. All of us had them on our planets and they were all reptiles of some kind, I think. There was a whole village of them on LOWAS. Casey came with me on a couple of trips.

[The details are fuzzy surrounding things, but that sounds close enough.]

O-Oh, that's....well, that's a strange name to pick, but I guess if it's just what the game called it you can't really help that.

[Just what the frick kind of messed up game was that though??]

So she's just like your traveling companion?

[Li-Na's watched this movie probably six times and has a digital copy as well, but there's nothing like watching a movie you enjoy on the big screen. So don't mind her as she sniffles her way through Taki finding out the truth about Mitsuha.]

[In between watching Your Name and Raiders of the Lost Ark, Li-Na can be found having some snacks. Cookies, a sandwich, and then she gets to the candy...]

[Li-Na has never seen this movie before. So the whole opening scene is kind of... shocking for her.]

[John's been roaming but as the movie reaches a critical point he ends up melting into a seat next to Li-Na. He's staring up at the subtitles and he's frowning because even though he's aware of how this goes...she's not wrong.]

This is all Chiyo's fault. [What???] How do people deal with something this tragic?

Ah, Chiyo suggested this one? She does love her romances.

I guess the pain in the middle of the movie makes the ending even better?

She did! And she does. I made a promise she would get first pick because we were supposed to have a movie night but then we all became a bunch of monsters. [Give him a second and he'll dig into his pockets for a travel-pack of tissues to offer one to Li-Na.]

You know what they say. Something about the journey and not the destination? [Shrug.] Even knowing that though it's still painful in the best way possible.

Last month ruined a lot of plans I think.

[Li-Na accepts the tissue, thanks John]

The whole... twist in this movie might resonate more with us too, since it has a lot to do with memories. Taki and Mitsuha's memories of each other and even their own memories about what happened. They forget like our friends who lose the app forget us. Like we'll forget the lives we're remembering if we drop off the app.

You're not wrong. [About any of that, actually, and he gives her a thoughtful look in return.] Sometimes I feel like our situation's similar to stuff like this and maybe we're just someone else's movie. That's a pretty dumb thing to think, isn't it? But at least it would mean there's a happy-ish ending waiting for us.

[Eventually John realizes that his cat is wandering and away from everything, a friendly and charming little mutant making her way around. As he looks for her, he finds Shuji trying to pet said-cat and overhears the comment.

Mewpac, to her credit, immediately headbutts into Shuji's hand. She's a people-cat.]

She is surprisingly a very chill cat. And the four eyes just make her even cuter. [There's a grin.] Glad to see you two have been formally introduced now.

I have to steal your cat now. I hope you can understand.

[He won't really engage in catnapping, but he certainly will give Mewpac all the pets she could want.]

Good luck with that. Mostly because Dave will hunt her down if I don't bring her home. [Mewpac purrs. Loudly. She's a glutton for pets.] On the other hand she's used to being stolen. I stole her in the first place, I think.

Don't fight my boyfriend. He'd--well actually he might really put in effort to save Mewpac. I am pretty sure sometimes he loves the cat more than me.

[Mewpac, seemingly knowing John's bitching about her, does the incredibly cute cat thing and rolls on her back to let Shuji pet her belly if he wishes.]

[ every transformers flick, every altrim blu-ray and even classics like the iron giant, 2017’s power rangers, godzilla vs mechagodzilla and more (so much more) comes prepped in a rather large bag eren uses to haul his maneuver gear around.

you can find him outside, where he has a t-shirt, and a hoodie, and a bright eyed look you’d never want to take away from a human being. it’s pure.

eren came too prepared, but he’s holding the bag in his arms like the next bouncy child in line for show and tell. except he’s 20 and he has a mega passion.

if you prefer to get straight to the films, welcome to the mecha room, where we’ll be streaming mech movies around the clock, and you’ll probably find eren there, standing through the entire movie (that i can totally randomize) because he just can’t sit still with the mechs.

[And because John promised, he breezes his way to the room specifically set aside for mechs and moves to stand next to Eren as he looks up at the screen. There's a semi-thoughtful look on his face even as he has a Red Vine dangling from his mouth that he's chewing on.]

There's nothing like experiencing giant machines on a giant screen. This was a good idea, dude.

[ eren isn’t allowed to eat during two times: sports and mech movies. this proves truth when eren is standing in front of the best seat possible to get all the imax quality sounds and imagery. he hardly takes his eyes off the screen when john whooshes to his side, only gesturing a little to the other’s shoulder as if he tried to pat it before giving up.

atlantic rim 2: uprising is just starting and he’s watched this who knows how many times but it never. gets. old. ]

Wait for the fights.

[That's fine, thanks Eren. John's going to pat him instead because he gets it. Mechs are pretty much the priority here and though he's never seen this movie he's gotta trust Eren's judgment here.]

Am I going to lose my mind? I never got around to seeing this one because I definitely do not remember any of this.

Holy shit. [Bluntly. Loudly. He's just staring because he can suddenly see why Eren's so enthralled. The comment after that is a little interesting as well and he gives Eren a curious look out of the corner of his eye.]
