come on and slam
WHO: James "Bucky" Barnes + YOU!
WHERE: the police station and later prison
WHEN: Sept 21 onwards
WHAT: James turns himself in for attempting to murder Zee, gets arrested for his actual murder.
WARNINGS: probably some melodrama, lbr
A. 9/21 at like 1am, police station, OTA

[ It's 1am when James Barnes walks into the police station holding a trash can lid. And it had been a quiet night, but it won't be any more, because James walks up to the front desk, starts banging his metal fist against the trash can lid to make a truly unholy racket, and immediately starts bellowing at the top of his lungs: ]
My name is James Buchanan Barnes and I'm guilty of attempting the murder of and assaulting Zee Carlisle!
[ A pause to wait for reaction, then he starts up again: ]
Hello? I said, I'm a murderer who needs to be arrested!
[ He sticks his arms out, wrists together, ready for handcuffs.
And he will continue on, repeating himself as he walks in circles causing a ruckus until someone with a pair of handcuffs takes him in. ]
B. any time on 9/22, police station, police and police-adjacent characters only

[ James sits in a holding cell, sighing and idly picking at the grooves of his metal arm to give him something to fidget with while he waits to be processed. He's not sure exactly what follows here--an interrogation to verify his confession? Or will they toss him straight into jail as soon as they get the paperwork in order?
He doesn't know what's coming next, but he's ready for whatever it may be. ]
C. 9/26 onwards, prison, OTA

[ By now it's been several days since he turned himself in. He's had his trial, he's been sentenced to 15 years in prison, and the news has already reported on it. He's even already been transferred out of a holding cell and into the federal prison that he expects to make his new home for the next many, many years.
But hey, he's got visitation rights now.
Anyone who comes to visit him will see him sitting at the table in the visiting room, wearing the prison uniform, uncharacteristically lacking his eyeliner, and looking more calm than one might expect, given his situation. ]

TRIBUNAL TERRACE -- A military dependent from Fort McCoy was found guilty of the murder of Zee Carlisle after turning himself in earlier this week. The culprit was not a suspect in the case, but had a history of public violence as well as a personal history of previous altercations with Mr. Carlisle that came to light during his confession. He has been convicted of murder, first degree attempted murder, and aggravated assault and has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Fort McCoy officials have declined to respond to calls asking about the convicted dependent or the murder of Mr. Carlisle.

[ wow turns out he's still really sensitive about the whole murder thing, who knew ]

You should. They should, [ he adds, gesturing to the room at large, ] because as long as you're in here getting blamed for killing someone you didn't, the actual murderer is still free.
Do you even care about that, or are you too preoccupied with this whole self-destruction thing you've got going on?

Of course I want the actual murderer to get caught. They deserve to rot in here with me. But it's not like the cops were going to find them anyway--they're killing people with some mystery magical Retrospec-given thing! The only way this person is ever going to get caught is from Retrospec people finding them. So long as people on the app don't stop searching, it doesn't matter what the cops do or think.

[ you're being stupid!! ]
How do you even expect us to find them, anyway? Just because we know you didn't kill Zee doesn't make the rest of us the star detective in some film noir.
no subject
Yeah, like one or two of each, tops. And even if they do find the killer, who else on the police is gonna believe them? They'll just throw out all the real evidence because they can't even see it, or whatever!
[ He's seen how Retrospec-related activity gets marked down in police files--that is to say, not at all. It's how James got off the hook for trying to burn a severed arm, after all. ]
I don't know, just--work as a team, or something! There's gotta be some way to figure it out, someone has to know something. You guys have a way better chance of figuring it out than the police do, anyway.

I don’t understand why you want to take the fall for this so badly.
no subject
I don't think the cops are gonna buy anything when it comes to someone who committed murder with some kinda Retrospec-related stuff, whether I "took the fall" or not. It was always going to be up to us to take them down ourselves.
Well. Up to you guys. I can't do much to help now.

[ Leo heaves a sigh, clearly frustrated despite the light demeanor he came sporting. ]
If really wanted to own up to what you’ve done, you’d be out there right now helping us try to find Zee’s killer.
