(open) rough seas will be calm
WHO: Jaeger (eventually) and you!
WHERE: Dreamscapes.
WHEN: 8/25.
WHAT: Dreamdives!
WARNINGS: Suicidal implications, threads are warned accordingly.
[You find yourself on a grassy plain. It's nighttime, and while this whole thing is probably incredibly surreal, the scenery is at least peaceful. You can see a dark building ahead of you.
If you look behind you, you'll notice that there's a large, thick forest. Listening for a moment will tell you that there's plenty of wildlife there, and it doesn't sound happy to see you. It's probably not a good idea to head that direction. But hey, if you really want to, there's nothing stopping you.
If you choose to approach the building, you'll hear the distant sound of waves crashing, but otherwise all is silent. It would almost be serene, if not for the ominous look of the building. It appears to be a very large manor. There are plenty of lights on inside despite the late hour, which gives you a little more light to see the building itself. For some reason there are massive chains decorating the left side of the building that don't actually seem to be there for any specific purpose, and above that are flags for... some reason. The whole thing is kind of an experience, and the gloomy atmosphere and isolated nature of the house probably aren't doing much to make you feel at ease.
Since the manor is most likely where you're headed, you might want to get a bit closer to the front door to check it out. Be careful, though - you won't be able to get too close without two guards spotting you. They're dressed in yellow uniforms complete with masks that hide the upper halves of their faces. They don't exactly look friendly; one of them has a crossbow in hand and the other has some kind of large daggers that look like they're attached to the back of his hands.
You'll find that there's a solid wall around the perimeter of the manor; you can hide here for a moment if you'd like. Climbing over the wall seems to be out of the question given the height of it and the spikes on top.

As much as you hate giving control back to him, it's not as easy as just taking control of his body in real life, is it? And the type of person that both of you are hates to just sit around and let the world go on without you. As bad as giving up control is, staying asleep forever would be worse.
So... please.
[Shuji bows low to Yeager.]
Please let him wake up again.

I suppose I can appreciate the courage it takes to look at me and try to argue that, but do you really think it'll work?
no subject
[Shuji bows even lower, with his head nearly touching the ground.]
Like you said, you're similar. I would argue this for Jaeger and I'll argue it for you.
no subject
[Despite the words, he doesn't sound angry. A little stiff, perhaps, but not angry.]
tw: suicide mention
[Shuji straightens up and glances behind him at Gauche and Droite, then turns back to Yeager.]
You said Jaeger doesn't have the will to be the person he's supposed to be, but... I don't think that's a bad thing, if the person he's 'supposed to be' was suffering so much that he sought death. You couldn't even tell your family about it - so you left them hurting to end your own pain.
Can you tell me, honestly, that you want him to be an exact copy of you, down to that suffering?
tw: suicide mention
...I did what I believed was necessary. Gauche and Droite...
[But he decides he doesn't want to continue that thought, so he shakes his head.]
Whether I want him to suffer or not isn't important. You've seen how Retrospec is, ja? It really is only a matter of time before he becomes me.
no subject
If you believe that, then there's no problem giving back control to him, is there? Because he'll turn into you sooner or later.
[So either he doesn't really believe that, or he hasn't thought about it, or it's more complicated than that.]

But hearts aren't logical, you know? He's someone precious to me and I want to ensure his happiness. Even if he hasn't been forthcoming with all his history - and I can't blame him for that, who starts friendships with 'so I may have gotten some people killed'? - he's my dear friend.
[A friend he loves, for whom he would bow to Yeager and say please, please let my friend be happy.]
Is that so hard to understand?
no subject
[He sounds almost sullen, though, like he's realized he's not going to be able to change Shuji's mind, no matter what he says.]
What will you do after this, then? You've learned quite a bit about him in here, haven't you?
no subject
I'll reach out to him and we'll talk. There's parts of my heart I want to share with him, and parts of his he'll want to clarify. We didn't mean to learn this much about each other, but I feel safe sharing my heart with him, and I want him to be able to feel the same way about me.
He doesn't open up easily. But that's something that can be worked on.
no subject
It certainly won't be easy, but I doubt that will deter you any. Fine. I'm done dealing with this.
[There isn't any sort of physical shift to let you know that Yeager's gone, but he blinks for a moment before staring at Shuji in mild confusion.]
...Shuji?
no subject
[Guess who doesn't care that you're still holding a gun probably TIME FOR HUGS.]
I'm so glad you're okay...!
no subject
I mean, it's not a comfortable hug, but hey, at least it's something.]
Yes, I'm fine. I... Thank you. That was...
[A lot?? That was a lot. He shakes his head instead of continuing.]
Well, I think we can head home now, ja?
no subject
Let's go home. I think we've earned ourselves a break.
no subject
[You'll find yourself waking up where you were before all this. Well done, Shuji!]
