[OPEN] Hazards of being a big sister

WHAT: Émilie deals with some of the downsides of having younger siblings...
WARNINGS: One grumpy heiress.

Émilie had quickly learned to despise the first of April. And so far today, her disdain quickly extended to sand.

Finding it in places it shouldn't be will do that. So far it's turned up in her bed, in her unmentionables drawer, and in her shoes...
...as she just found out now after essentially fleeing her home, meaning that before long she has to sit, take them off and shake it all out. A sitting duck if there ever was one.

"One more prank and that brat is in so much trouble..."

Chloe had been coming over to see Emilie as she'd gotten out of the house for a bit. She was currently leaning against the wall outside the mansion, a curious look on her face while she watched her friend grumping. "Oh? Dare I ask what is happening?" she said in an all too innocent tone. She had no idea what it was, but she was pretty sure it had something to do with the date.

There were advantages to being an only child, far from home.

"...Dani is a bit too fond of pranks, especially today." She gets the sand out of her shoes, at least, her pockets are a bit more difficult.

She laughed and shook her head as she looked over at her friend, seeing her dumping sand out of her clothes. "Ah yes, I am not entirely surprised. She is still quite young, after all. They all have this strange fascination for pranks at her age." It was, admittedly, much easier to forgive when the sand wasn't in your shoes.

"I do wish she would behave herself more..." She manages to get most of it out and off her clothes... But now she expects more Dani related trouble coming her way.

She laughed and shook her head, her eyes twinkling when she did so. "Come now, this is what little sisters are for, is it not? To disappoint and worry their big sisters while they protect them from the evils of this world." Once again, there were her romanticized versions of everything that was 'supposed' to happen in the world. It was like she existed in a fairy tale version of reality sometimes, where pranks were just part of the norm, because that's what little sisters did.

[obscultator]

... Miss Écarlate?

[And whenever she looks up from shaking out her shoes she will notice a familiar priest standing nearby, a Garden Gate Farmer's Market bag in each hand and a look of polite concern on his face.]

Is everything all right?

...Yes. I'm just dealing with one of the downsides of having a little sister like Dani.

[ Émilie, for the most part, looked fed up and resigned to her fate. She, a 21 year old woman, is pouting. ]

[As he walks a little closer and sees the sand, he smiles and chuckles.]

Oh, I see! Well, having sisters does come with its own particular set of hazards, that I can personally attest to.

It's worse since Dani is too clever for her own good...

I'm sure she is, given the caliber of her sisters.

[Karl transfers the lighter of the two grocery bags to his other arm, ready to offer her a hand up if she's done emptying out her shoes.]

How are you all doing?

Going out to draw in the open for a while had been, while unplanned, worthwhile. For once not with his nose stuck in a sketchbook while he was on his way back to his apartment in Birch Hills, he heard someone speak as he passed on the sidewalk.

"...are you alright? You seem a bit, um, ruffled." Like a disgruntled bird that's puffed up its feathers, or something.

The young woman pauses and looks up, giving this newcomer a tired look that says 'of course I'm ruffled!'

"April 1st is not recommended if you have younger siblings."

He gives a sheepish smile.

“Ah...I only have older siblings, so I don’t really know what that would be like.” He pauses. “Right, no, I have a younger brother now.” Not that he has ever met Yura, or talked much about him because he doesn’t really talk to his family, and it’s not been a long time since his father remarried so it’s hard to get entirely used to it. “Is it hard to have younger siblings on April 1st?”

[Oh...Dani isn't quiet done yet. She's got a bit of deniability on this one but still. She's going to be in her room by the time she's caught up to and there is a game already going on her system. INCOMING WATER BALLOONS!]

[ A pity no one had a camera ready, or they'd be able to catch the shocked look on Émilie's face an instant before a water balloon impacts against her face, making her cry out. She should have expected this... ]

[At least that one doesn't have any colored water in it but the others around her are rainbow splatters. Dani's never stuck with one color when doing her pranks..mostly because she's not one for letting people know it was her, given her history with bullies.

There is one last barrage of balloons, aimed around her sister before she darts off back to her room.]]

[ Émilie tries her best to avoid the barrage of balloons that head her way, trying to escape the multicolor assault. ]

Danilellé Écarlate! You are in so much trouble when I get a hold of you!

[appraiser]

The wind picks up the scattered sand and carries it along the pavement by Ryoji's feet. He looks up and over at Émilie, not catching her words but veering off her direction anyways, because that sure is sand she's dumping out of her shoes...

"Mn... Had a fun beach trip?" he asks, because sand, beach, is the only logical connection he can make.

"What? No, some little pest has been putting sand in places it shouldn't be."

Émilie's expression was that of annoyance with the entire situation. She expects Dani will get her with something else soon...

[appraiser]

Ryoji laughs, but it's short, as he's unsure if it's something he should be laughing about. If not sand from the beach, then... well, that's what he finds amusing.

"A sibling... or a friend? I'm imagining somebody carrying around a bottle filled with sand, just to sprinkle into another's shoes." He laughs again; he can't help it. Pranks to him mean fondness. "That takes a fair amount of dedication."

Well, they went to the beach in March, which will explain where it was found.

"My youngest sister, Dani. She is quite the handful at times..."

[fashionable_yapping]

"Hey, dearest sister..." There's that expression on Nina's face. "Guess what?" She has her hands behind her back.

[scarlet_devil]

"No. Drop whatever you're holding, Nina."

[fashionable_yapping]

"Only if you guess what I'm holding." She's almost humming.

[scarlet_devil]

Émilie, though, isn't amused. "Water balloon."
