i'm too impatient for the event so play something small with me maybe
WHO: Minato/ota
WHERE: Wiffle-Waffle
WHEN: Friday, 8/3, all day
WHAT: a """stake-out""" aka eating waffles and talking because nothing will happen on the 3rd like it usually does. some info-sharing to get people up to date (or alternatively, non-productive wheel spinning with Minato because he knows NOTHING haha)
WARNINGS: none
i.
[ Shit goes down on the 3rd every month --> we don't know what's going to happen aside from something being wrong with Retrospec --> the waffle house used to be where the Retrospec building is and its mailbox is outside --> stake out the waffle house just in case something happens
That's basically the thought process that went into this, but word might not have gotten around that it's happening. If anything, what draws people's attention, if not by word of mouth, is that whoever's on the way to the waffle house early Friday morning may see Minato on his way there too, struggling to push a wheelbarrow up the street.
It's a covered wheelbarrow. There is definitely a blade or three poking through the cover where he'd tried to tie the fabric down so it wouldn't blow off. But don't mind that; help him push. ]

[ The Wiffle-Waffle is a respectable business which wouldn't appreciate loitering, so head on inside and let's have a waffle party. You're also paying for your own waffles, because Minato isn't made of money. He tries to keep his head down, mostly, finding a far away corner booth to sit at and waving people down with a credit card in one hand, the other hand held by the side of his face as if it does anything to obscure his identity from the workers there who shoot uneasy looks his direction from time to time. ]
Four waffles. Plain. If you can order that for me...
iii. (chronologically after prompt i.... I so clearly edited this in after the fact without reading)
[ He's just stuffing a mini-armory of axes and swords into the mailbox, don't mind him. ]
iv.
[ Time trudges on with nothing happening— a good thing, really. But Minato fiddles with his phone a lot during the time, pulling up a message he'd sent to Zee, checking and rechecking Wednesday's post from Joanne in hopes that it'd corrected himself.
With people here, it's a good a time as any for some info sharing. If anything, it'd be good for people to catch up on what happened last August that'd gotten so many "veterans" riled up, and Minato's one of those who wasn't there and is interested in learning more about it all. ]
So... Summer in Recollé sucks, huh. [ yeah ] ...I was talking to Zee a little, and he mentioned something about old maps, if you know anything about those. I guess it's of the city? Or Retrospec itself. I'm still a bit lost on it all, actually.

[ The truth? But he's still staring at Arsene, waiting for the Persona to push the wheelbarrow. Instead, Arsene floats and crosses his legs, showing off his blade heels as he tilts his head to one side. It's a staring contest, a battle of wits. When Shiva appears, they both turn towards the god.
How cool—such confidence. A great guy that knows a pretty sexy dance. Ren applauds. ]
You tried your best, Minato. I'm sure Arsene can help us.
[ "Hardships will help build character for you two young boys." Nope. Maybe Ren was wrong. Arsene talks way too much and naturally that means more opportunities to be audacious. ]
no subject
The answer is no, and when it appears that Arsene's answer to pushing the wheelbarrow is also a no, Minato looks slightly disappointed, having let himself get his hopes up. ]
I don't want more character. My character's... having no character. Being quiet. Boring. Overlooked.
[ A nice, easy, quiet life where he doesn't have to push his own wheelbarrows. ]

Same here.
[ Looking at Ren, he is the standard unkempt nerd with hipster glasses and bad posture when he walks. Arsene merely sighs before switching places with Yoshitsune who smiles at them with all the charm of his body. To Minato, he nods, revering him as one of his summoner's strange friends. Don't Judge.
"My sword is yours."
The general, seeing Ren has one of his greatest allies, sees no wrong in helping them with the wheelbarrow. Of course, Ren is still pushing it with the help of the Persona. ]
I don't think you're boring, by the way.
no subject
You do a shitty job at all of those too.
[ It's a backhanded compliment? Yoshitsune, don't cut him down.
He appreciates the help, though, going so far as to shove his hands into his pockets with no intention of helping out in any capacity, watching where Arsene once hung in midair. ]
The Persona are a reflection of the soul, after all. Yours are cool.

[ Backhanded compliments sprinkled with insults. If only he wasn't helping Minato's cause or else he would have bumped their shoulders, hoping to push Minato off balance.
... On the other hand, he might fall down and just stay there. ]
The more time you spend with Arsene, the less cool he becomes. [ ... Which reminds him of something as they push the cart— ] What are Shadows like in Tartarus?
no subject
People are just like that. Cool until you get to know them. The Shadows in Tartarus... they're fun, I think. I used to like chasing them.
[ a bully ]

[ Uh... He's not going to comment on that considering some of his friends almost died to them in Mementos when they walked in out of nowhere. He can see how the blob is cute, but they did run them over with cat bus. Pushing that aside, he focuses on how Minako mentioned it's very different. ]
And the actual Shadows themselves don't always take the form of Personas?
no subject
As for the Shadows, Minato has only experienced them in Tartarus, whether it's in his memories or in the city here where it'd turned up one night, but he can't really say the feeling he got from them were like Personas. Personas to him are connected to a person, and Shadows— maybe he wants to live in ignorance, and keep believing he's fighting monsters, not aspects of people. ]
I don't really remember... The Shadows I've encountered all wear a mask. That alone differentiates them from Personas. But it's not like I've seen many Persona to know they're unique, either.

[ He remembers in a safe room, Morgana explained the concept of Shadows and Personas, how they take the form of figures of legend and myths because it represents humanity’s psyche. Catching himself, he isn’t sure if Minato would be keen on it, so instead he turns it around to the cute Shadows. ]
I’ve never seen one with a mask, so that’s interesting. I’d like to see one or two some day.
[ only dumb protagonists wish something like death ]
