i'm too impatient for the event so play something small with me maybe
WHO: Minato/ota
WHERE: Wiffle-Waffle
WHEN: Friday, 8/3, all day
WHAT: a """stake-out""" aka eating waffles and talking because nothing will happen on the 3rd like it usually does. some info-sharing to get people up to date (or alternatively, non-productive wheel spinning with Minato because he knows NOTHING haha)
WARNINGS: none
i.
[ Shit goes down on the 3rd every month --> we don't know what's going to happen aside from something being wrong with Retrospec --> the waffle house used to be where the Retrospec building is and its mailbox is outside --> stake out the waffle house just in case something happens
That's basically the thought process that went into this, but word might not have gotten around that it's happening. If anything, what draws people's attention, if not by word of mouth, is that whoever's on the way to the waffle house early Friday morning may see Minato on his way there too, struggling to push a wheelbarrow up the street.
It's a covered wheelbarrow. There is definitely a blade or three poking through the cover where he'd tried to tie the fabric down so it wouldn't blow off. But don't mind that; help him push. ]

[ The Wiffle-Waffle is a respectable business which wouldn't appreciate loitering, so head on inside and let's have a waffle party. You're also paying for your own waffles, because Minato isn't made of money. He tries to keep his head down, mostly, finding a far away corner booth to sit at and waving people down with a credit card in one hand, the other hand held by the side of his face as if it does anything to obscure his identity from the workers there who shoot uneasy looks his direction from time to time. ]
Four waffles. Plain. If you can order that for me...
iii. (chronologically after prompt i.... I so clearly edited this in after the fact without reading)
[ He's just stuffing a mini-armory of axes and swords into the mailbox, don't mind him. ]
iv.
[ Time trudges on with nothing happening— a good thing, really. But Minato fiddles with his phone a lot during the time, pulling up a message he'd sent to Zee, checking and rechecking Wednesday's post from Joanne in hopes that it'd corrected himself.
With people here, it's a good a time as any for some info sharing. If anything, it'd be good for people to catch up on what happened last August that'd gotten so many "veterans" riled up, and Minato's one of those who wasn't there and is interested in learning more about it all. ]
So... Summer in Recollé sucks, huh. [ yeah ] ...I was talking to Zee a little, and he mentioned something about old maps, if you know anything about those. I guess it's of the city? Or Retrospec itself. I'm still a bit lost on it all, actually.

Is it the execution of going to an execution?
no subject
[ But he'll never get there if he can't get up this hill, or past the roadblock that is Souji. It's taking everything he's got just to keep it from rolling down the 1° incline. ]
An execution is what I'm preparing for. That's the reason for all of this.
no subject
Is this because of the post from Retorpsec?
no subject
Yeah. Called some people together to see what's going to happen today. Woke up this morning and everything looked alright, but...
[ He shrugs, and lifting his shoulders eases the force off the wheelbarrow, and it slides backwards an inch. ]
no subject
It's always good to be prepared.
[ souji says solemnly, looking off to the side. there's a pause before souji looks back at minato. ]
... hey, let's grab some waffles. It'll be my treat.
no subject
That's the plan. I've got to turn these in to the mailbox first, though. I have no idea how my alternate universe self managed to carry several dozen weapons with him at all times, but that's not possible for me.
[ The closest thing he has to it is storage in the mailbox, but he still has to stay close by to turn tickets back into weapons. ]
no subject
Have you considered strapping them all onto a belt? Like a superhero utility belt?
no subject
He didn't need to go through with all of that to know that there's no way to strap the sword onto his belt. But he can use the belt as a rope to tie a knot around the hilt, though that leaves him with too little length of belt to wrap around his waist again. Hm. ]
Hand me another. I think I can fit two more, and tie the other end to my wrist.
no subject
Here, how about these two?
no subject
Now he's armed to the teeth and can never walk again. ]
...I think I understand why heroes wear capes.
[ To hide all their murder weapons. He'll never be allowed in the waffle house now. ]

[ souji stares at minato and then without hesitation, he just begins to unbutton dress shirt (who cares if it's hot out, he likes having the sleeves). once he has it off, he takes the sleeves and wraps them around minato's waist before tying them together. he would wrap it around minato's neck but it probably wouldn't reach ]
Hm... close enough, I think.
no subject
Right. Next step is transportation. Help me into the wheelbarrow?
no subject
[ there's still weapons in there, minato. ur gonna get shanked ]
no subject
...Shiva can block pierce. That should be good enough, I think. [ Lots of these things are stabby, so they should count as pierce, right? Regardless, he doesn't look too concerned when he opens his eyes. ]
Shiva also gives me a free pass out of death once, sacrificing his soul for mine to grant me full health. So I wouldn't worry.
[ He gets to fake!die once a day or whatever; there's no more reason to care about his life, after he'd found that out. ]
no subject
Does that mean when he sacrifices himself, you lose him as a Persona?
no subject
I don't lose him. I can summon him again if I want, but he's not happy when I do. He chides me like I'm a child, trying to wield a power I cannot handle.
[ They're finicky Persona! Even if they're a part of his own soul, they're the part that cares more than he cares, that doesn't want to see him fight so recklessly just because he believes he has a lifeline to waste. ]
