I FOOD + MINGLING
[Today's Nanashi's birthday and he's finally sixteen years old! If you're a friend or an acquaintance he probably invited you to come over somehow. The second you walk through the door he'll greet you with an explosion---- BOOM!
A small firework blows up right next to you!! It smells like smoke inside the house and that's concerning. Great way to start the day, right?
If you haven't yelled at him for making a mess inside the house already, he'll suggest you go try some food. There's home made BBQ, sushi rolls and a giant bowl of salad if you're not into eating meat or fish.]
II- GAMES
[Once everyone's settled in he'll suggest playing terrible party games to past time.
Options include:
Charades
Musical chairs
Uno
Mafia - This is probably a questionable choice because he comes from a family of yakuza, but hey. It's all fun so come enjoy yourself!
You're always free to bring your own form of entertainment too. There's a tv for video games and movies. ]
III - POST PARTY CLEAN UP
[ Nanashi is trying to keep things tidy around here. If you aren't in a hurry he may ask you to help out just so he isn't so loaded with chores afterwards. Please let him live... ]
Can you hold this for a sec? Thanks, I appreciate it.
[He passes you towel and a pair of gloves.]
Maybe I shouldn't have set off those fireworks indoors earlier. This stain won't come off.... [#regret]
[Sorry, Jouhei.]

[Sorry, Jouhei.]

[ He feels like he knows someone that is, but doesn't seem to remember. There's been a lot of confusion in his memories—parts where he feels like they're real, others just deja vu. Then remembering things that have never happened.
Whatever, he settles next to him. ]
I want to be Boo.
no subject
[Nanashi nods. If Ren's anything like Akira he'll be good at video games. He's going through the roster wondering what to pick.]
Go for it. I'll be Peeka......now we match.
[Haha. Peek a Boo. He thinks it's hilarious.]
no subject
[ Peeka and Boo high five each other as they pick out a car, then a route. They're cute and ready to go—he decides he wants to be the driver. ]
Mind if I ask you some questions while we play?
[ Ren has questions since... There have been so many strange things about Recolle. Nanashi continues to be someone he doesn't remember. He's so well-behaved, a lot younger, and doesn't instantly recommend hijacking a sports car. ]
no subject
Nanashi's fine with questions. There's a slow nod of his head.]
Sure. What's up? I'll try to answer what I can.
[Ren may be a little different from Akira, but they're still friends. That hasn't changed. ]
no subject
... So who are you, Nanashi? You're kind of different from what I remember.
[ It's his opportunity to lay everything out. It'll lessen whatever questions Ren has, too. ]
no subject
I'm still me....Even if I don't like it, I'm the son of a criminal in another country. I have a sister and a shitty father. He's an asshole.
[There's empahsis on the 'asshole' part, but hey. Nanashi stares at Ren in concern. ]
How's it different from what you remember?
no subject
... Well, you were more Yakuza than you are now—even more excited about being Yakuza. I remember you used to hotwire cars and give them a joy ride.
[ Pretty. Different, if you think about it. ]
no subject
[He knows that Ren isn't lying. There's no way he'd make a joke about something like that. Nanashi's staring at those cars on the screen and he's imagining himself do all those things. His expression changes into a dissatisfied one. ]
I'm too young to drive. I can only drive in video games like Kario Kart.
no subject
[ Don't worry, Nanashi. Ren is driving the kart like a pro, though their luck with the boxes are kind of... Eh. ]
Then again, I don't think not knowing would stop you.
no subject
[Ren's such a good video game driver. There's a banana peel in the road so he'll have to be careful and go around it. Still, It's weird how Ren remembers Nanashi being eighteen. How does that even happen unless he's got some kind of clone running around?]
My dad had plenty of secrets. Maybe I have an older brother and you're friends with him.
no subject
Unless his name is Nanashi, then maybe, but... I'm getting a feeling it has to do with that Retrospec post earlier.
[ It usually doesn't stick so much, but with their identity being juggled around. While they're talking about Nanashi, Ren is wondering about himself, then his friends. ]
no subject
[Wow, that sucks. They're losing in the video game and to retrospec. Nanashi doesn't look very happy.]
I have a question too. How did you meet him? That other guy who seems a lot like me.
[So what's the story behind that one? He wants to know about it more. Things aren't really matching up and it's concerning.]
no subject
[ His eyes dart to Nanashi every now and then, but doesn't have any trouble with catching up to where they used to be. As long as his partner throws what he needs to throw and uses what he needs to use, they'll steal first place. ]
I wouldn't say that was a model Yakuza move.
no subject
[That's troubling. ]
Were you close to your family?
[Nanashi throws a shell at one of the karts next to them. They're making their way at the top again.]
no subject
[ At least, that's what he thinks? It looks like they're hanging tight onto third for the second lap. Not bad, but they need to maybe cheat a bit. Ren's quick to take a shortcut this time, despite how dangerous it is. ]
... In these dreams I've been getting, no. [ It's weird. ] But from what I actually member about this life, yeah. My parents are really bright and doting.
[ The exact opposite of his dreams. ]
no subject
[Ren does seem a bit different from Akira. He's more distant in some ways. Nanashi's looking at Ren like he's got food on his face. ]
Those dreams sound terrible.
[Hopefully they haven't been too bad!!! Wow, they're really killing the race by cutting corners.]
no subject
[ Ren's parents are loving, maybe even too enthusiastic and it tired him out, but he does love them. Even if they're both in jail. ]
It didn't seemed like I minded it too much, but he felt alone. [ Different from lonely, but very similar. ] In these dreams, you looked like how you do now.
[ ... ]
A shrimp.
no subject
I hate being called short. [He pouts at Ren all like HEY...hey...!!]
Am I at least bigger than a fish?
[SHRIMPS ARE SUPER TINY. Oh, look who forgot about the race.]
no subject
Hmmm. ]
Jumbo shrimp exists.
[ Is that better? ]
no subject
Okay, fine. I'm not gonna get any bigger than that. Jump shrimp are delicious anyways.
[SPEAKING OF FOOD.]
Do you wanna go get something to eat after the race?
no subject
[ Don't give up, Nanashi! They're finally edging to first place, but they need to make some plays here before they can take it. ]
Sure. What is there?
[ He's assuming there's food here already. ]
no subject
We have shrimp and sushi.
[Oh no. Nanashi pokes Ren's side before he can say anything funny in return. ]
Do you feel like eating fish?
no subject
Ren is smiling so smugly and Nanashi must hate it, but he doesn't care. He can't help it because it's so funny. The poke doesn't even stop him, he's still snickering behind a hand.
He's trying his best to stifle it so hard. So. So. So hard. ]
I do... Love shrimps.
[ And he busts a fucking gut goodbye. ]
